One last on the 'Beer' debate- The Best I've ever had (for my palate) was Foster's Draft Ale. Edinboro, Scotland while on Liberty Call.
The Worst- Red Stripe. Served at room temperature in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
When Stateside- Lowenbrau (preferably on tap). Better than any AB or Miller products.

Worst beer in my life....Southpaw...an Australian beer.

My baby is getting married on June 12th - just got the date from here last night! It had to be June - a month after school opens. Oh well. Such is life.

More later, I'm late.... and need a shower!

Awesome news, Chak! How long are you going to be stateside? My folks fly in around mid-june and I'm planning a trip to Nawlin's after that.. Would be awesome to hook up!!

Although my son has been "cooking" things for a while...(he can make toaster oven pizza rolls and an awesome PB&J sandwich)...I have been stepping it up a notch with him because of Robin and Retic mentioning it. I mean sometimes it's easier to just do it myself. But he made his entire bacon, egg and cheese sandwich this weekend with my direction and he puffed all up with pride!! Tonight I made him help me. It offers us some one-on-one time together and it's been awesome. My son is an awesome cook! And he's learning from a good one I think. ;) And she learned from the BESTEST! My Mom cooks her hiney off...........and she learned it from HER Mom who was the best cook around until she had my Mom! And she even admitted it...that my Mom blows her out of the water. My son is really enjoying it.

:)

I don't think I said beer was for women did I? I know I rattled on about a very light ale that stood stead for water, but that doesn't relate to today's versions. I did say lager is considered a woman's drink in England though. :D My favorites used to be "Bishop's Tipple" and "3X"

Ok I have to weigh in on the beer issue being one of two home brewers on this thread as far as I know . Beer in the U.S. changed radically during WWII with a large percentage of the men involved with the war the breweries moved away from the darker , heavier brews to the lighter ones in an effort to appeal to women that's how we wound up with the horsepiss that the major breweries produce today . Hula telling people in Ireland or Germany that beer is for women will get you a less than pleasant result . The difference between lager and ale lies in the yeast , ale yeast ferments from the top down at room temperatures , lager which is the german word " to store " ferments from the bottom up under refrigeration , using lager yeast at room temperatures will give you nasty undrinkable beer , The germans invented modern refrigeration for the purpose of brewing lager beer year round , prior to that it was only brewed in fall and winter , the german name for ale is Altbier or old beer meaning before lager yeast was developed . There was and may still be men only bars in Munich where the entire front of the bar is a urinal , they don't want anything cutting into their beer drinking time . My favorite brew is Guinness on tap followed by Sam Adams Boston lager on tap neither of which is made in Canada and no Buttwiper beer is allowed in my house or fridge or in BK's either .

We vacationed in Jamaica once. DH says we can't go back because Red Stripe sucks..

Good for you RJ! My boys are pretty proficient in the kitchen.. Bacon, eggs, spaghetti, tacos, sausage, etc. They helped me get dinner together Sunday evening. It's a good distraction when they are starving, as well as good family time.

Ok sorry troupes. COPD kicked in to over drive. Drolling and still have to feed the old hen. Man I don't know what I did to deserve this.
I was a good boy all day.
As for beer. It reminded me of my dad.
Bought some saint Pauline's girl beer from Germany. Dad let it sit till it got to room temp. Took one taste and said. " now that's what beer should tast like. Not that p water you drink".
    RIP DAD. !!!!!

I'm gonna say one more thing about mass produced american beers , AB , Miller etc. The large american breweries were and still may be using something called fish finings to clarify their beer quickly , it's essentially mucous from fish and snails that is pumped in to the top of a tank of beer and as it settles to the bottom it collects microscopic particles and clears the beer which is then pumped off the top and filtered , In homebrewing I used something called Irish Moss which is a dried seaweed that takes days to clarify the brew but at least there is no animal by products in my brew , The major breweries produce millions of gallons of beer and they want to do it as quickly and cheaply as possible . Budweisser also uses rice in their beer which is a lot cheaper than malted barley so I give it the ultimate in crap award , if AB tried brewing it in germany they would have gone to jail because of the purity law in germany that was on the books there for hundreds of years , they have dropped that law in germany so they can mass produce crap like us but at least Beck's and some of the other german breweries still adhere to that law . Know what your drinking !

We can only hope, huh ? :). Tons of praise makes them puff up proud and makes them want more. :D

Meh. Cracked open my heavenly army and set it up on my r91 because I got too impatient. Must say I'm fairly disappointed.

Smelled from the bottle, I thought it has a fragrant profile almost identical to DF, although I also caught a whiff of something I can't place my fingers on. Cookies? Something dessertish for sure but I can't figure that out.

Vaped it, 1.5 ohms, used 3.7 to 4.2V, I got the familiar HHV tobacco flavor and the faintest and most mute other note to it. This time it reminded me of a mix of some kinda pastry and vanilla. But it was super muted and faint.

Baby's going into the dark abyss of my steep shelf for a long, long time.

Good Morning Army, made it to work. No class till 10:10, however have grading to do. May not make it back till next week. I never could understand the management here, this happens every term - we have two more weeks before the finals, but Academic (admin) wants grades to be turned in at the end of next week!

Ahhh ! But if you try a nice unpasteurized , unfiltered abbey ale like Chimay made by the trappist monks in Belgium you might change your mind , nothing nasty in them just water , malted barley , yeast and hops . Chimay has a sediment in the bottom of the bottle that is live Brewer's yeast which is very very good for you , it contains all the essential amino acids we need , you can buy Brewer's yeast tablets at Whole foods or a health food store , Chimay is literally alive and can be used to start a batch of beer fermenting , the monks have been making it the same way for hundreds of years , excellent stuff and good for you too .

Your HA will wake up with steeping , I find 6 weeks a good starting point for it , but if you're impatient like me , order it with extra extract next time , either way HA is a damn good vape , creamy sweet graham flavor with hints of cocoa and a stronger tobacco presence than Shadow IMO .

Yeah, I use the same principle to refill my Huntsman T2. I have a right ol' "sour dough" type thing going on in there. LOL
