Well I think we might've gained one degree in temperature this afternoon. They said it will be a high of 28. It is 22 degrees. (real feel of 12) I doubt seriously if it is going to make it anywhere close to the earlier projection. That makes me wonder what it will get down to tonight! At least I have power. I just hope it stays on during this cold snap. We are probably near record lows right now. The sun was out earlier, but you can't really feel it, which is unusual around here. It just makes the snow more bright! It is a little windy, but not too bad right now. Hood up with gloves on, it'll be that way until probably Thursday.

Well guys I'm home... :(

So, car broke down on the way to West Virginia, so we are now home - the car is fixed, thank goodness, but we aren't going to try and finish the trip.

Therefore, the rest of hubbies vacation will be spent lounging around the house, enjoying looking at all this new snow, and not going anywhere!

Am sad about not seeing the kids, but at least we made it home safe and sound and got the car fixed. ..

I'm not going to try catching up on the thread, I fell too far behind I think...hopefully everyone is doing well...

welll... it got even more icy... the ground level roads are even iced over... went to the corner store for my mornin Monster and yup... its slick, saw a Kenner Police car exit the gas station and do a full 360 spin across 3 lanes... that will teach him for showing off. I called dispatch and let them know of the conditions down here... they did a quick check and verified with me that no one here will be working..... I got the day off :) ( until it melts off) this is the first time Ive ever seen the roads get iced like this... looks weird, not really black ice ( the dark wet looking stuff) more like dry sugar, can be decieving cuz it looks like dry cement.

ohhh... saw a wicked Karma thing yesterday evening on the way home from Baton Rouge... I was following a big rig ( about 200' behind it) and was getting spattered by dirty water and was wondering where it was coming from ( since it was totally dry weather) and I realized it was melting ice... so I backed off and slowed down to 60.. the car behind me began to become an idiot and tailgated me something serious, he started flashing his head lites and pulled in even closer... I pulled over into the left lane ( which was doing 55-60) and off went Mr tailgater to close in on the truck, he began tailgating the truck in short order... as the truck came to the end of the bridge ( there is a nice bump there) the trailer bounced a bit and must have loosened a sheet of ice that formed on top of it.... a 3' X 4' slab of ice ( at least 2" thick) caught the wind and peeled off the top and came slamming down onto Mr. Tailgaters hood... he instantly backed of from the truck and eventually pulled over... good thing I moved to the other lane or I could have been dodging an ice slab that would have been sliding down the road...

Good Morning Army. I never tailgate a tractor trailer. One, it annoys the heck out of me when I'm working. Two, the cheapest tires on the entire big rig are almost always the recaps companies use on trailers. You're lucky if they shred apart, usually they get hot and blow apart in on big tread, or "Gator" as truckers call them. Then is winter conditions it you can only hope that it's not some rookie getting pushed down the road by an ambitious dispatcher.
Money is nice. Living is better.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)
