2 hi speed pick up truck stories this morning....

#1 earned the Darwin Award...( aka no more PUtruck driver) traveling southbound on the Causeway ( the old bridge) was speeding and lost control... over the side he went and into the lake... thus, all the traffic that normally crosses the bridge was diverted to I-10 along with a 2 hr delay.

#2... I was in middle lane on Williams Blvd, lite had just turned green and an old lady was scurrying across the walkway as the light changed... PU truck behind me got impatient ( since I was slowing down to let her cross) and shot over into the right lane and floored it... he missed the lady by 1-2'... my heart literally jumped into my throat expecting the truck to lay her out all over Williams blvd... I guess he realized what he just did as he pulled into a parking lot of a Pizza place and sat there for a couple of minutes... ( I was at the next red lite and watched him) hope he learned something from this!!! o_O

Oh my God!

I hope #2 learned a lesson. I'm glad that he was so affected by the close call to NEED to pull into a parking lot. The real dumb :censored:s don't give a flying fig and just keep on going.

On that note I will divulge a stupid move I made once. Totally my fault (who admits their own mistakes these days?). I'm tooling along. Light turns yellow. Thought I better stop for it but was probably a little late so I had to push the brake fairly hard. Still crept out into the intersection a shade too far. Looked behind me and saw no one. So popped it in reverse and crept back a few feet just to be sure my front end wasn't sticking out too far. Waited for the light to turn green again. Only problem is I forgot to slap it in drive after I backed up. By this time some dude on a motorcycle was behind me. I stopped with no more than three inches to spare before giving the dude a full frontal with my tailgate. All I could see was a "DODGE" logo indented in his face. Of course he freaked and let me have it. And I let him because I deserved every bit of it. But to the point, I was pretty shook up myself and pulled off into a gas station and sat there for five minutes getting my :censored: together. I could have easily made a pancake out of that dude. It wasn't like he was in a car. He was on a motorcycle with nothing to protect him.

I seem to always watch those backup lights when I see a car do what you just described. Only because I could see myself forgetting to put it back into drive.

I've done a couple of dumb things.

{{{hugs}}} L. O. N. G. DISTANCE for bonus girl! I do hope none in the rest of the family get it. I heard it is a brutal flu year. So far we've not had a widespread outbreak around here.

I'm really limiting my public outings. I'm definitely in the category of being vulnerable.

I saw pictures of her that you posted on FB. She is lovely! You can see her happiness and contentment in her eyes. You've done a fantastic job with her. Kudos!!

Thanks so much! She's a great kid. She's happy here, no emotional and physical abuse to deal with anymore.

DH has the flu:(.. I'm still feelin' fine..fingers crossed and praying!

And yes, you stay away from the public!

With Bonus Girl around you probably don't feel so outnumbered, eh?

Watching some video reviews of Netgear wifi extenders. I'm on to these reviewers these days. You can quickly tell the difference between the novice reviewers and the serious reviewers. Most are novices...usually kids who use a review as an excuse to make a video. They'll do a 12 minute review on a router and all they do is unbox the thing and show you what you get (between them yelling at the dog). Nothing about how it works, setup, how it performs. comparisons...nothing. I ask, who wants to spend 12 minutes watching a kid unbox a router? Furthermore, why isn't mom or dad coaching them? Or do kids divorce their parents for that these days?
