I just let one of my neighbors have it. He just returned from the animal shelter. He brought his three year old cat in and dropped him off there...permanently. Got tired of him spraying all over the house. He never got the thing fixed and everyone told him to. He's too cheap. A few years ago I had to help him pick up his 8-1/2 year old lab out of the house and haul him out to his truck. He was taking him in to get put to sleep. 8-1/2 years old and he lived the majority of his life in a cage. His muscles were not exercised near enough and atrophy set in. Couldn't walk anymore. The poor dog looked horrible. I told him flat out to never get another animal. If you're not going to take the time and expense to have an animal then don't have them. Not that hard.

Animals are not trophies or possessions. If you can't be responsible enough to genuinely care for one, you shouldn't have one.
Urlacher is not the most adorable pet in the neighborhood, but he has full run of the house, goes outside for exercise at least three times a day, goes to the Vet every year. And he is loved to the point of being spoiled rotten. My Home Security System, with teeth :thumb:

It just frosts me, Pop. I wanted to go off on him after he made me help him carry his neglected dog to his truck to be put down. I refrained then. Now he tells me about this cat and I couldn't hold it in anymore. Abuse a woman, a child, or an animal and it gets my back up right quick.

Rightfully so and that behavior displays a certain taint of character.

That’s just sad about the pets. My dogs drive me up a wall, but I love them to pieces. My labs are almost 8 and they get a nice 3 mile hike just about everyday. If I’m busy it’s a little shorter, but they go everyday. In fact... I need to get them outside for the hike now (before the olympics get too good)

Dogs have got to get exercise...especially the larger they are. They need to be walked or be able to go outside and run around if they want. It's just cruel to keep them in a cage all day. I walk the neighborhood every day and there are always neighbors out there walking their dogs. Big ones, little ones, skinny ones, fat ones, yappy ones, quiet ones, cute ones, ugly ones, all kinds. One guy reads his book while he walks his dog. It's a low rider who goes with the flow. Others drag their owners around nearly pulling their arms out of the socket.

That's awful Bronze. There are usually free or reduced price spay and neuter clinics, but from the sound of his history with the dog, maybe the cat is better off. Remember me 'live trapping' the barn cat to have her spayed?:lol::lol:
My lab is 11-12 years old (rescue, no exact birthdate). Arthritis is setting in, and he drives me batty some days with the in and out, in and out.. But I'll miss him when his time comes.

Robin, I got some of the hand cream you mentioned. My fingertips split open from hand washing so much.. They are feeling much better already and I just got it today. I hope yours are doing better too.

April, very cool on the triplets!

Papaw, it's been cold and miserable all weekend here. No snow or ice thank goodness. So ready for spring.

General, my hat is off to you for giving the guy an earful. I simply don't understand some people.

How can they treat animals that way? Don't they develop any emotional attachment to them? Is there no empathy that makes them think "How would I like to be treated this way?"

The stuff helps a lot. I do have to keep using it damn near every hour though. Woke up this morning and almost couldn't pull on my sweats. Hands hurt too much to bend the fingers. I think I need more water in me. I've been slacking lately.

@MostlySunny I'm hooked on the Olympics also!!! Was up until 1am watching them last night. Go Team USA!!!

Those Russian female skaters....OMG so talented and strong!

I know! Just beautiful. I love that it’s live. I can’t get into the curling or hockey games though. Did you see the snowboarding when Red won? He was just adorable. Can’t imagine being 17 and winning a gold.

Thing is the guy has plenty of money. He just doesn't want to part with it. He comes from that segment of the populace who are often referred to as tightwads. Wont say who and spark a fight. :)
