almost got run into this morning.... I was at a lite waiting for it to turn green... which it did, so I proceeded to move thru the intersection.. I looked to the left just to make sure things looked good and noticed the girl ( 20 ish) headed towards the intersection and not slowing down...I slammed on my brakes ( scared the person behind me) and the girl just went sailing thru the intersection...
while she was texting ( looking at her phone with the thumb bouncing all over the screen) missed me by about 3 feet o_O

someone needs to create a forced download that uses the phones gps to measure the speed of the phone and disable everything but the map apps, phone ( speaker mode only)... all the social stuff ( twitter, facebook, internet, etc)wont work between 4 mph and 210 mph.... ( if you are moving faster than 210, your probably on an airplane or in a Lamborghini ;) )

I have predicted for a long time now that my death will come at the hands of some young chickie who t-bones me while she's texting on her cell phone. I'm convinced it's not a matter of if but instead a matter of when.

Below-replacement population growth is not a good thing primarily because it means those societies are gradually being depleted of the younger, productive citizenry needed to provide for not only themselves, but all of the (increasingly older) population. An aging, graying, sickening society is massively weaker (against disease, invasion, natural catastrophe, etc.) than a young, thriving society. When 70% of the population is no longer working or paying taxes, but is consuming taxpayer funded healthcare, "retirement monies" and other goods -- how well/long does that math work out exactly??

As for worldwide population growth since 1958: why is that a scary thought? How many people should there be on this vast planet? (And make no mistake: for the most part, the ground surface of Planet Earth is very thinly populated or even completely empty.) Who gets to decide that? And what should be done with the "surplus population"?

Malthus was dead wrong. I thought everyone knew that. Paul Ehrlich is an old fraudster who was also dead wrong in all his "population bomb" predictions.

Bah. People can drive me crazy sometimes, but it is not for us to decide there are just "too many of them" (while, of course, there are "just enough" of us).

Rant off./

and why is that not a good thing? I was born in 1958... at that time there was 3 billion on this planet... just during my lifetime the population has more than doubled... to 7.3 billion.
makes one wonder how much bigger that number will get during the next 60 yrs... it is estimated that there are more people living today right now on earth than there has ever been alive in the history of mankind ... thats a scary thought...

it never works out... it takes about 6 working people to supply enuf taxes to cover 1 of the elderly population.... so as the working class begins to age, it will take 6 more times the people to be working to support that group add infinium... and the numbers continue to escalate to keep this growing snowball rolling... so where do we stop?? 100 billion,1 trillion 5 trillion people? eventually there wont be enuf agricultured land to sustain the food issues. We have pretty much depleted the oceans already...

about 45% of the earths land surface is considered hospitable for human habitation on a long term basis...
the other 55% consists of deserts, mountains above 8000', rain forests, perminent snow cover ( Antartica ) etc...

This would be good, except if you are the passenger or kid in the back seat killing time on the road...

Robin, I hope the creams give you some relief. Just having dry hands is bad. I can't imagine them being sore and hurting all the time.

Rained all day here too. We need the rain, but if we could spread it out a little it would be nice.. Forgot how fun it is to grocery shop in the rain.:nah:

BunnyKiller, I apologize for my tone.

It's just that any discussion even tangentially related to "population control" is a very touchy subject for me. Culture of Death, and all that.

Friends? :vapor:

no prob :)

I have a tendancy to look at things in a mechanical sense... numbers and the outcome and results ( the engineer in me I suppose)
Im not a proponent of killing off old people, but Im not too enthused about people "breeding like rabbits" either...
there was a girl across the street who had 5 kids in a row ( she stayed PG for nearly 5 yrs) until they tied her tubes... her mom called her " her money pit" since she was on welfare, wics, ebt, and "disability" ( she was quite capable of working) and was netting about 5K$ a month o_O
I have to bust my .... to make that much...

The one that will give me the most relief isn't stocked. They had ordered the small tube but, after it didn't come in today, she called and found out that it only comes in a larger 'tub'.

Also my insurance doesn't cover this product. $300.00 is what I'll be shelling out on Monday:shock:
I think it's because it is a combination of meds mixed in (?)

Should last through the rest of my treatment (however long THAT is going to be)

Morning everyone. We have had torrential rains here for days. No sunshine, very few breaks. Just almost constant rain. Some heavy, some storms, some drizzle.

I was making a little bit of progress in getting my land in shape. Now, I don't even want to know what the lower end of my property looks like. It may have all washed away.

Good Morning Army. Sleeping with the window open still. Cool, fresh air makes for some good sleeping. Until those stupid birds start marking off territory amongst the trees in my front yard, then I have to get up. But my house faces west, and the afternoon sun bakes this house so I planted trees about 12- 14 years ago. Now I should look into "Shade" grass seed. Always something.
Lawn Mower battery on charge, looks like today will be the first mow.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

I'm sorry David, I just couldn't like that one. I know you will understand!!!

Pappy, I do hear you loud and clear. Today we have a chance for just about anything, and then it should calm down. Flooding, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, high winds and hail. We could get any of it or a combination of it today. It hailed a little bit here a couple of days ago, I think it was. Luckily it was small and sparse hail. The rivers are in bad shape. The bad thing too is they are releasing water from the dams. They have to do that, I know. But that makes it harder to push that water out here. My nerves are getting frazzled. At least it should be over with before I go to bed tonight. It will be a relief, I'll tell ya that.

Morning....In for rainy Saturday for awhile.....

Here ya go dear. I see this at the health food store. I bet you have some around your area too.

Sea buckthorn protects your heart, offers antioxidant health benefits

<<<
Sea buckthorn oil is also used for slowing age-related cognitive decline, limiting the toxicity of chemical cancer treatment such as chemotherapy, treating stomach and intestinal diseases including ulcers and acid reflux or heartburn.

Some people apply sea buckthorn berry or seed oil directly to the skin for preventing sunburn, treating radiation damage from x-rays and sunburns, healing wounds, burns, and cuts, clearing acne, dermatitis, dry skin, eczema, and other skin conditions.>>>
