We will stand back to back against the on rushing hoards. I have a large jump drive plugged into my Tacoma. I has everything from Abba to Enya and Sinatra to Julie London and Beatles to Three Dog Night, Brubeck to Davis, Cole Porter to Ella and Glenn Miller - on and on. Eclectic to state the obvious.
Makes it easy to always find something you're in the mood for. :)

But not this.

I said I like a lot of different music, but not everything. Case and point. :)

Oh my gooodness KKay! How are you doing now? Sounds very severe. I had that problem in January, not early as bad as you, but was out a few days waiting for "things to go away". If you've never had them, army, let me tell ya there's a whole new degree of pain out there, just laying in wait! OWWOWWWARRGHHH.

Hula, I feel tired. It is hard to keep up with so many medicines. This wasn't the worst kidney stone pain I've had. This is probably in the top 3 though. (maybe two) Some stones aren't too painful, others are severe. The first time was the worst. I didn't know kidney stones caused back pain, as I had never had one, until a decade ago or so. I remember that time well. I had to go to ER, after suffering for hours. The pains started getting closer similar to birthing pains of labor. I was embarrassed to go to the ER for some back pain. That is when I found out what was wrong. That stone was small, and it was killing me. The big stone was on the other side, and I didn't even know about that one. It was so big it was ridiculous. It was the size of a Robin's egg, the doctor told me. I had to have the blasting job done twice to break up the stones, so I could pass them. It was like sand for several days. That is also when I found that I couldn't tolerate pain meds well, they made me very ill. A long time ago they would keep you in the hospital for that stuff. Now the cost is so high, they don't keep you that long at all.

So you loved Uriah Heep? HAHA. That is what I mean, some bands attract some people, and repel others. I didn't like it when I was very young, but I just listened to some of it, and it wasn't too bad. I do miss the keyboard/organ music that was all the rage for a good while, in the rock bands.

One of my favorites when I was a kid was Tommy James and the Shondells. I played that over and over on the hifi player my aunt gave me.

I wish that I had been a kid when I listened to Tommy James and "Crystal Blue Persuasion".

I said I like a lot of different music, but not everything. Case and point. :)

Exactly! This is why I have a vast music collection too.

There have been a lot of studies on the effects on the brain of various music keys. Pythagoras developed a system for identifying the effects and taught his followers about it in “secret teachings.” Some music soothes, some excites, and some can literally drive you mad and make you highly aggressive. It’s fascinating stuff.

I try to avoid Eb minor and Bb minor!

Here’s a summary about Western music keys:

"... descriptions of keys from various writings ... (quoted from a book by Rita Steblin):
C Major:
"Completely pure" (Schubart, 1784)
"Cheerful and pure" (Knecht, 1792)
"State of nature, virginal chastity and purity, lovely innocence of youth" (Heinse, 1795)
"Naturalness and nobility" (Gervasoni, 1812)
"Cheerful and pure; innocence and simplicity" (Weikert, 1827)
"Simple, unadorned" (Schumann, 1835)
"Concerning the physical expression of this key, it appears to be completely pure" (Schilling, 1835)
C-sharp minor:
"Penitential lamentation, intimate conversation with God" (Schubart, 1784)
"Despair" (Knecht, 1792; Schrader, 1827; Weikert, 1827; Ebhardt, 1830)
D major:
"Gay things and grandeur" (Rousseau, 1691)
"Joyful and very militant" (Charpentier, 1692)
"Pleasant, joyful, bright, songs of victory" (Masson, 1697)
"Songs of mirth and rejoicing; grandeur and magnificence" (Rameau, 1722)
"Martial ardour" (Hawkins, 1776)
"The key of triumph, of Hallelujahs, of war-cries, of victory-rejoicing" (Gathy, 1835)
Eb minor:
"Horrible, frightful" (Charpentier, 1692)
"Feelings of the anxiety of the soul's deepest distress, of brooding despair, of blackest depression, of the most gloomy condition of the soul. Every fear, every hesitation of the shuddering heart, breathes out of horrible Eb minor. If ghosts could speak, their speech would approximate this key" (Schubart, 1784)
E major:
"Uplifting" (Junker, 1777)
"Bright" (Gretry, 1797)
Bb minor:
"Gloomy and terrible" (Charpentier, 1692)
"Mournful songs" (Rameau, 1722)
"Preparation for suicide sounds in this key" (Schubart, 1784)

I'm not that sophisticated. I just put shuffle mode on and take my chances. It will be Jimi Hendrix one song and Karen Carpenter the next. :)

Loved Sabbath! I used to creep my sister out (we shared a bedroom) by vocalising the whoo-ing in "Children of the Grave" in the middle of the night snicker  To my purist horror I also rated Heaven and Hell after the big split. :D
    Wayback when for you Hula.

I've had the damned stones several times , the doctor told me he could cut my leg off without anesthesia and it would hurt less than the pain from the stone ......... I believed him , they hurt BAD !

I finally mastered the cold extraction process for my new "Rare Ribeye" flavor. If anyone wants to be a beta tester, let me know.

Retic, sorry to hear about you having some bad stone pain too. About that same time frame with the first stone... I also had gall bladder stones, so I had to have my gall bladder removed. Now I wish I had tried some natural remedies first.

The weird thing about this is I have heard it is genetic sometimes. Neither of my parents ever had one. My brother started getting them when he was in his 20's. I got my first one in my late 40's I think it was. I guess the combination of my parent's genes might have something to do with it. I don't drink enough fluid, and that is probably one of the biggest issues. I don't drink a lot unless it is very hot outside. I stopped eating cereal for breakfast, and I almost completely cut out milk. Cheese is a weakness for me. I used to eat a lot of roasted peanuts, and I quit that too. I do like several varieties of nuts, and have a snack with them often. I have to force myself to drink more water, and I guess I got lax in that. To top it off I have had many dinners with Ramen Noodles, but I don't use the whole seasoning packet. I am sure that was a factor too. Yes, it is not good for you, but sometimes that is all I can afford.

What your doctor told you surprised me! My first baby was very big, over 10 pounds. So I know how labor pain feels. Not all stones hurt like labor pain, but some do. It seems you had the severe kind, and you have my sympathy. I know Hula gets them too. I hate those stones, they are a royal pain.

You talked about Black Sabbath. I did like some of their songs. I also liked Ozzy when he went solo. I saw him in concert back in the early to mid eighties I think it was. This was after the bat incident, but not long afterwards. When I was young, I went to a lot of concerts. The last concert I saw was Kenny Wayne Shepherd at The Strand. My son went with me, and he still lived at home then.

They were right about that antibiotic being a problem in the sun. I wore a hat, long pants, socks, and a long sleeved shirt. The shirt had extra long sleeves too, and covered most of my hand. This evening I have some fingers that burned. It was cloudy out there today too, almost the whole day. I don't have sunscreen. I guess I am going to have to put on gloves until I can get to the store and buy some dang sunscreen. I wasn't out there long, just taking the dogs in and out for a potty break. That was all it took I guess.
