We were in debt to ourselves to pay for the Revolution. It's a miracle this country ever won a revolution much less survived after it.

The info I read was something about how a thorough reading of the Consitution and all founding documents reveals that Britain ultimately assumed the debt and became the creditors for us, France, and Spain. So even though they “lost” the debt made them winners in another sense. Who really really knows?!? History, as they say, is written by the victors. :)

Good evening, Army. :)

Finally have the fingerprints off the doors and all beding done and have the bathrooms all cleaned.

Now we get ready for our adventure to the northwest. Portland Oregon first then driving to Yellowstone. It's going to be colder than what I'm currently used to. :p

I hope you have a beautiful trip! When do you leave? We were in the 90’s for a bit there. Back down to low 70’s now. Watch out for those Portland hipsters. They’re a tricky lot. ;)

We leave Thursday next week. Yeah, my stepson and his girlfriend are those Portland hipsters. :p

He did the facial animation for the movies Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings and The Box Trolls. His girlfriend is the manager of the hair department in the same company. They do stop animation. Adam has actually moved to the stop animation department with the next movie that is coming out.

Very talented yet quirky individuals. I absolutely adore them

Got a pileated woodpecker out back jackhammering the side of a tree. It echos throughout the woods. How do they not get concussions is beyond me.

Woodpeckers get up in our trees looking for baby doves in their nest. If they find them, they peck their heads until they kill them and then eat their brains. Seriously.

When I found that out, I regretted liking Woody Woodpecker all those years when I was a kid.

Bronze yes, I heard that too. I don't think the leader did that. It has been one heck of a night, that is for sure.

Pappy, I hope the storm didn't do too much damage where you are. Thousands around here have lost power from downed trees, and power lines. We had one heck of a storm blow through here. I decided to shut my computer down, and unplug the modem. I looked up and Windows said not to shut the computer down. I had already hit the shutdown button before it said that. I wasn't happy about that. I had already installed updates on Tuesday. So that was weird. Start it back up, and it finished whatever it was, but it was not in the update history. My power dimmed a little, and I know the electric company must be experiencing trouble. We had some hail, but not too bad. The wind was very high at times. I thought I heard the siren, but the storm was so loud it was drowning it out. I hope my mom did not lose her power. If she did, I hope she has it going by the time she gets up in the morning!

I think the worst of the storm is over, but another is approaching.

Robin, sounds like a great trip. ENJOY!!!

kkay, the wind has been blowing like crazy here since about 10pm last night. I hate to go look at my new fence down in the woods. I suspect one or more large overhanging branches have fallen on it and messed it up. One step forward and two steps backwards.

At least we have no rain the forecast for a few days. I'm tired of it.

Barbarians! Works both ways though. One mid-winter day I come out of the house and look over next door and there's a Flicker (basically a woodpecker...beautiful bird) with her feet frozen in a puddle of ice/slush. She couldn't move. Perched on top of her was a crow pecking her brains in. I went over and chiseled the little feathered sweetheart out of the puddle and keep her under a laundry basket overnight...complete with water, wood chips and a little branch she could perch on. She looked none the worse for wear and the next morning I released her. She seemed VERY happy! :)

We have Flickers here too, they are lovely. I had not heard that the woodpeckers go after baby doves, that is awful. I hate Blue Jays, even though they are beautiful. They will kill Cardinal babies just for fun. I also hate English House Sparrows. They will go to a Purple Martin house, and kill the babies, and then put their nest on TOP of the other nest. They often beat the Purple Martins who try to defend their house. I had one of those houses, and it was great for about two years, until the sparrows decided they wanted it. Then it was a war during the spring. Once the English House Sparrows won, I took the whole thing down.

For years I used to feed the birds here, then I quit. My mom enjoys feeding the birds at her place. Oh, and thankfully she does have power! That makes me very happy indeed.
