I need to do some errands. I didn't do it yesterday because the weather was supposed to be possibly bad. Today was supposed to be cleared up after 1p. So I postponed my errands. Then last night they talked about downpours and storms. Today I am getting some conflicting reports about it. I don't think they know for sure what it is going to do, and there is a reason for that. I started running the a/c a day or two ago. I hated to do it, but it was that or suffer. Last I heard we were going to have cooler nights for a short time, that will help the inside temps. We shall see.

TGIF and happy Friday from Vegas. Our temps are climbing again and we’ll be breaking 100. Then staying up there. Hoo boy!

@kkay59 - I’ve been avoiding the a/c as much as possible too. I’m thankful for it, but the constant hum, the dryness and the lack of fresh air... ugh. Not to mention the higher power bills. I hope your errands go well! I try to be stocked up before the weekends so I don’t have to go out among the even crazier drivers on the weekend. :)

Weird random question for y’all - Has anyone ever had a mothball smell under their sink? I’ve been searching all kinds of ways but can’t find a reason for it.

There are very few household cleansers under there, so I don’t think that’s it.

There’s a fire extinguisher, but it’s not out of date and the gauge indicates it’s not leaking.

Just had a plumber here to install a new faucet and replace the hot water valve. No plumbing issues found.

It’s a mystery. I did read that there are chemicals in the water supply that can smell like mothballs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

100 degrees stinks. At least you don't have the humidity, that makes a big difference. Still I know that would have to be HOT. Anything over 90 deg here is hot in my opinion.

I didn't get my errands done. I did one, and it took so long I didn't have time to get the others done. The rain is coming down. I would've done the errands earlier, but I had appointments. I didn't go yesterday because that was supposed to be bad weather, so I held off. I had to get the monthly heart worm treatment for the dogs, and I had to wait an hour to get out the door. I can only afford to get one months worth at a time these days. So they will get their dose for the evening meal. Cassie's hair is a hot mess too. I need to give her a hair cut. I haven't been up to doing a regular cut, until now. Maybe I can get it done tomorrow or Sunday. I would do it today, but since it is raining, I cannot. I do most of the trimming inside. Then I do the rest of it outside on the table in stronger light. I am going to trim it down pretty good when I finally get to do it. Her hair grows like weeds!

I don't know anything that smells like mothballs, except for mothballs. Maybe the person who lived there before you kept some under the sink. The heat might make the smell pop out worse. I have some mothballs under my sink. They are in a box, and I have it wrapped in a plastic bag. You can still smell it when you open that door. That smell will linger for a long time, even if the mothballs are thrown out.

All true! But when I moved here, the temps were 105 - 116. And no mothball smell. It just came up suddenly. That’s what has me mystified and on the hunt for some logical reason. I’m not worried about it. It just triggered my obsessive nature. ;)

Wish I could do yard work now , I'll trade ya . :(
The way I feel I would trade you. If we're both gonna be sore then I'd rather do nothing to be sore than spend all day busting myass. But on a regular basis...no.

LA, maybe a neighbor has some stored right next to you on the other side of the wall? Either that or maybe you have a maintenance guy who sprayed something like that under your sink, to keep bugs out? If not either of those could be the issue, I am out of ideas at the moment.

    1) Your pesticide man has been round the units, 2) mold/mildew,problem with drain pan 3) your neighbors are using mothballs/camphor as an insect repellent and it's coming through into your unit, 4) pilot light off with a gas appliance

Sorry for the late replies, but I was standing on Kilauea for a while this morning. Hey! How'd y'all know that? :banana:Actually it's Pele doing what Pele does best, and media doing what they do best - making a 10 course meal out of a mouse turd. If anyone does live in the vicinity, it wouldn't be pleasant though. I will say that. Rotten eggs smells and very hard for asthmatics and other bronchial sufferers to breathe, so they have done an evacuation to be on the safe side. Undoubtedly some people will lose their houses. Hint. Don't build a house in the pathway of an active volcano.
