Mornin All...
Nah , I'm no expert Hula . The real experts are the guys that create the Linux distros and maintain them . I'm good at building computers and setting up systems though . When it gets to the point that all you need to access is email or websurfing , then make the switch . It doesn't matter if you're running Linux , Apple OS or Windoze , email is the same on all of them , so are browsers . Firefox is Firefox , Chrome is Chrome , they look and work the same on all of them . What's different is I don't need anti virus , anti malware , registry cleaners , or disk defraggers on linux , and the updates are much faster and done on my schedule . That last Windoze update reset all my system settings and disabled Bit Defender on Windoze 10 . I sent the SOB's at support a flaming email about it . It's my damned PC , not MS's .retic is an Expert on Linux, and I use the word sincerely. You will have one of the best to help you out. Only reason I'm not into Linux yet, is because at work, everything's on MS, including mail. Therefore I need to access from home or any other place I may be.......hmmm....nah....I'm a boring old fart, so there really isn't "any other place I may be". I draw the line on MS mail on my personal phone however, as those 1984 MS creeps conditions include the ability to erase everything on it (for one freaking app? Hahahahhaha) So, my dear and beloved co-workers, if you're here anonymously and reading this, if it wasn't important enough to tell me during the work week, then Phhbbttt, it's unimportant enough for me to even give a fig when I ain't.

Running very fast under Linux Mint , Thanks David !On the tech side I came across something last night. And I've changed my DNS serve away from google to a new DNS....1.1.1.1 — the Internet’s Fastest, Privacy-First DNS Resolver
No issues so far and seems to be just a touch faster...Time will tell how well it does...
The dirtbags at AT&T have blocked access to 1.1.1.1 already , could well be your ISP .I am still having trouble with that new DNS deal. I think my ISP might have something to do with that. Not to mention I think I may try to update the firmware on my modem, maybe that will help...I don't know.
Not really. Don't know who Cade is and don't know what the top five is.Bronze, are you hinting that we need to talk about music? Cade made the top 5!! I wasn't overwhelmed by Sunday's jewel song that he chose. I love the song, but I don't think it was right for him. The second song was better, and Sheila E was an outstanding surprise, I love her!
Rube BowlingI'm playing a new sport these days , need a name for it . I run into idjits with the electric scooter at Walmart . People cut in front of me and expect me to slow down or stop . Nope , nada . Ramming speed , full speed ahead . Hitting their carts is worth 3 points , hitting legs is worth 7 points . If I knock'm off balance , I automatically win . If they so much as look at me wrong I grab my cane and prepare to repel boarders , think I'm gonna have BK melt some bullets and weight the end for me . Still need a name , any suggestions ?![]()

Not really. Don't know who Cade is and don't know what the top five is.Jewel is the daughter of Atz Kilcher who is one of the people in one of my favorite Alaska shows (Alaska: The Last Frontier). Atz is the son of a Scandinavian who took advantage of the Homesteader Act and established a homestead in Alaska. He was fleeing the Hitler scourge in the late 30's. Atz, (along with his brother) continued the old man's homestead legacy. Atz taught music to Jewel. I watched the show for several years before I even knew Jewel was his daughter. She just showed up on the show one day. They didn't even make a big deal out of it. She was just another Kilcher. Jewel's mom is a derelict. Her dad mostly raised her.

Where did you go in your router to make that change (seeing we have the same router). Also, will it apply to both the wifi and the ethernet? I connect my laptop via ethernet cable from the Nighthawk.I changed my DNS to the four 1's in my router rather than the computer and so far, very good. Also, did you [ipconfig/flushdns] after the change to 1.1.1.1?
Is yur modem/router propitiatory to the ISP provider? Mine is a Netgear that I own.

I have never used ethernet for anything except peripherals like a printer, so I don't know BUT, playing a geek on the ECF without a single credential to my name, I'll bet it does. For WiFi, I entered [routerlogin.net] entered my user name and password. Then under "internet advanced" there is a "DNS Server" settin in which you deselect getting it from the ISP and enter your own numbers. [1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1] It is easy to revert back if all does not go well. The router stores the original DNS server numbers when you deselect ISP and enter your own - if you don't do anything except deselect using the radio button.
Thank you kindly, Sir. I use an ethernet connection to my laptop because it is significantly faster than the wifi. At least that's what the speed tests tell me.I have never used ethernet for anything except peripherals like a printer, so I don't know BUT, playing a geek on the ECF without a single credential to my name, I'll bet it does.
