I open the garage door and a bird flies in. Turns out, it is a bluebird who had built a nest on that same broom a couple months ago. Probably the same bird. What the heck! She had to build it over the weekend while the door was open much of the time. I never saw her. She was out all night cuz she flew in as soon as the door opened. Was probably perched outside watching the door the entire night. Anyhow, I took the broom down. But this time the nest was complete...including an egg sitting at the bottom. Didn't know what else to do so I just propped the broom up against the side of the house. It was either that or fry up some bacon and have some breakfast. I see no way that egg will hatch. She didn't sit on in all night. No idea if she'll ever find it again. I certainly cannot keep the garage door open 24/7 for her. What a dopey bird!

Gonna see 'em tomorrow, hop on a plane and join me. Reds are on a run, and last time I checked the White Sox weren't, so .... :D
They just swept the Cubs in four. White Sox suck...bad! Real bad! But they are in total rebuild mode. Their farm system is replete with great young talent. Among the best in MLB. Mark my words...they will be a major force to reckon with in a few years. Watch for Yoan Moncada. He will be a star. #10.

You have noooo idea how much I love love love sourdough !
Fresh hot bread - slathered and dripping in butter !!

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

Yes! Exactly!!!

The baguette recipe I use is so easy. Flour, salt, starter and water. Mix it up and let it sit overnight. I don’t even have to knead it. Shaping into baguettes is the most complicated part, but again, easy. The hot, sour result is to die for. I like mine drizzled with honey.

It’s fun and easy to make your own sourdough starter too. (Hint, hint ;) )

LA, no I don't live anywhere near a desert. FranC doesn't either. She doesn't live in my state though. Tomorrow should be better. I saw haze again this morning. I haven't even looked at the sky this afternoon, because it is too hot and the sun is very bright. You feel like you are cooking out there, even in the shade. I live in a humid place in the summer especially. Dry air isn't as bad as humid air, when it comes to the real feel. As I write this the temperature is 100 deg F. I didn't even look at the real feel. Tomorrow the high should be in the high 90's, but we have a slight chance of rain.

Congrats on the sourdough, I love it. Sounds like you are trying new things, and enjoying life. You can't beat that.

7:05p-still 100 deg F. It should've dropped at least a degree by now.

I know FranC is way up in the Northeast. Really, really strange. The sun has been extra bright! I noticed that especially this week. WTH?!?

I am having fun. The orange I cut for my smoothie had beautiful peel - very fragrant. So I looked up how to make orange peel tea. Really easy and tasty with a bit of honey (of course!) It’s good for congestion and has lots of vitamin C. Much more gratifying than throwing it out! Mixed with my ginger tea, it’s better than any juice I ever had.

didn't know they swept the Cubbies.
tell me about rebuilding. can't believe the Reds play the way they do right now. they were stellar in June. we have some nice youngsters in our farm as well. Maybe we meet in a world series in a couple of years :)

Glad you made it safely! Sounds like you’re having a grand ole time! Enjoy!!!

I’ll be less annoyed at noisy shenanigans on the 4th knowing you’re over here enjoying your first 4th. :)

Woita, glad you are here and enjoying yourself. That is a cool looking dog!

Yes, that is what they say about the dust. It is extremely hard to believe that dust traveled so far across large expanses of water, all the way here. (enough to put an amber haze out there too) I've never heard of it coming here before, but they say it happens a few times a year. I don't know about that, but of course I could be wrong.

If we don't get some rain, I sure hope people here refrain from any fireworks. My neighbors will probably send some in my yard, they do it a few times a year. No common sense whatsoever. He was burning vegetation one day on a windy very dry day. So, I plan to be home for sure. I will probably diffuse some lavender for Bella while the festivities take place.

Tbh, I hate that firecracking biz, too - at least in germany (we do it on New Years eve and, illegally, on the days leading up to it). But what can you do, gotta go with the flow. (The dog hates it for sure. Took some convincing to get him out of the house today.)

Was a nice ballgame @Bronze, wasn‘t it. Sure liked the outcome. Let‘sall root for the reds tomorrow, haven’t seen a win in ages :)

I appreciate that my cats don’t freak out at it. Last year someone’s illegal fireworks set a palm tree on fire. The fronds fell on someone’s roof and caused some awful, costly damage. It’s drier this year and they are cracking down on it all. They’ve set up a website for reporting illegal fireworks. Things get crazy when people have no sense.

When Johnny Bench played for the Reds in the 70’s I was a big fan of the team. He was one cool guy and a talented player. The Phillies were my hometown(ish) team. It was exciting when they won the World Series in ‘80. Haven’t paid much attention to baseball since then. In fact, everything I know about any sport of any kind, I learn here on The Big Thread.

Wonderful! So they will live with you? Temporarily, or for the long haul?

The plan is 2 months tops. Gives her time to get a job and figure out where to rent and then pay for that rent.

We'll see... To be continued ROFL!

Good morning, Army. :)
