Retic, after reading your latest posts, I see why I haven't made the leap to Linux yet. I want to, but not right now. I haven't the time right now, and courage needed to start. The Linux Mint dvd I bought a while back is already obsolete. When I first did Windows, I would be on that thing for hours at a time, trying to figure it out, and tweak it. Luckily I met a friend online who helped me when I had questions. The internet is very useful, but it is also a big time double-edged sword. (in my opinion of course)

Linux Mint is very conservative and DD is a gamer , I'm telling DD how to get around some of their safeguards because he is a gamer . If someone was to run Mint using it's software manager and drivers one would never need to see the command line . Also since the installation only takes about ten or 15 minutes and I don't know what exactly DD tried to install I recommended to reinstall the OS and start the right way . Installation is very easy .

All you need is reading skills to install it , the installer is straight forward .

There you go, retic, you require a skill set in which I am deficient. I have been looking at some refurb's on line. It seems like a cheap, risk free way to get in.

ok-back in Linux Mate-firefox is indeed 60.0.2,it does say for Linux 1.0-but below the 60.0.2
Everything else works great still have to work on printer
    P.S-posted from Linux-hehe
I always use a cable for hooking anything up , networking printers isn't my forte . You might try looking in the Ubuntu wiki , Mint is Ubuntu underneath and it will apply for Mint 99% of the time . You should see Firefox 61 .0 in a day or two in the update manager .

The guy that wrote that is a forum regular on mint's forum . Generally good info but I don't agree with some of it , proceed with caution . Generally the only things I really agree with is enabling the firewall and changing the settings in Synaptic , the rest I don't bother with . You might want to look here for lot's of info Linux Mint Guide - The kindest blog about Linux Mint
The Nvidia section will show you the command for optimising the driver with your kernel .

A classic comic!!! I’ve used this joke, but it’s funniest to see it. I think this was from The Far Side. I used to be a huge fan of that.

I love this! Thanks for posting it. Now I can save it. :)

Oh, and call me Ginger too.

Exactly. Her kitchen (and the house) stays cool while I recline in under a shade tree ten feet away from my new toy.

Good Morning Army. Up and about, already been to WalMart. Wanting Mamaw to get motivated and pull her car onto the ramps so I can do Oil/ Filter on her car and my pickup before it gets hot. Lawn once the dew dries. Then Grilling. Burgers and Potatoes for lunch, Boneless Chicken Breasts and Veggie Shish Kabobs for Supper.
And Mamaw still complains. But that's her job.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

Good morning Army! More fin detail early for me. The upstairs AC unit this time. The downstairs unit is cooling like a champ. Upstairs, not so much. In fact, it is horrible. Only a 10 degree differential between the return air and the register air. That unit has been massively overworked and I think the lines have cholesterol in them. Probably will never be right again. I mean, it is 20 years old. But maybe all the fin straightening will help. Lots of flattened ones on this one too. Did both inside and out. Rinsed it with steaming hot water and letting it dry for now. I'll put it back together in about an hour and give it a whirl. I was up at 5:30 for my walk and on fin duty by 6:15. Beating the heat!

I'd love to have one of those fancy telescopes. I have a low end telescope. Everything is manual. I can track the moon halfway OK but forget trying to track planets. You get it in view and in no time it has moved out of view. Those fancy telescopes have automatic tracking ability to follow the planet so it is always in view. Big $$.

Oh well they are calling for 100 deg high today. I don't know what the real feel will be. I don't imagine I will be doing much with the plants today. I am going to move them to the porch here very soon. I saw the haze in the sky yesterday. I need to go to the store later, that ought to be fun. (I'm being sarcastic)
