I didn't know you could even buy a computer with 128gb these days.128gb of storage is too little IMO , the operating system will take up a chunk of that , hard drives are cheap these days , ask her about a bigger hard drive .

My laptop is 4 or 5 years old. It has 750GB HDD. The C drive is about half full. The D drive is empty. Lots of room left. Had 6GB of memory. Added 2GB more for 8GB total to run AutoCAD. I haven't tapped out of anything yet and probably wont for a good while. I don't even know if you can buy a 750GB computer anymore.Me either , I have close to 2 terrabytes of storage in mine , cost about $120 to do that but I know Apple will charge a premium price for everything . Flip side is it's the most secure PC you can buy outside of a linux system .
We have a bulk trash day, and you can start a week ahead leaving things on the curb. Makes me so happy when people stop to pick things up. Much better than the landfill. Nice job!So I got a little motivated and cleared stuff from the spare room to the curb. Couple flat panel tv's. (broken..the 50in was heavy) Along with a box of circuit boards, a box of cables ,an electric heater, a small lamp , two monitors (one flat and one crt) , 4 chairs on wheels from the dining table I don't use. With some other odds and ends. Just over two hours later only the crt and a glass in the frame for a 50in remain. (If they are still there in the morning I'll bring them up to the house till trash day) I saw three different cars stop but could have been more. The city doesn't like people picking through trash but don't seem enforce it. Which is fine with me. If some people want to pick things from the trash to take to the recycle center to make a few dollars or fix to resale or use it's better than the stuff going to the dump. More power too'em.
I have a desktop that I basically built , dual hard drives for Linux and Windoze for gaming, 750 watt power supply running it . I7 and a fast video card . Would have cost a fortune to buy a laptop with the same capabilities .My laptop is 4 or 5 years old. It has 750GB HDD. The C drive is about half full. The D drive is empty. Lots of room left. Had 6GB of memory. Added 2GB more for 8GB total to run AutoCAD. I haven't tapped out of anything yet and probably wont for a good while. I don't even know if you can buy a 750GB computer anymore.

So in others words you figured out the easier way to do it after you did it the hard way...……(been there)
I aint messin' with you!
I'm thankful for the EZ ways I can dispose of stuff here in Wake County. There are all kinds of waste disposal/recycle facilities here. The county does a fabulous job with that. Not every facility takes everything so you have to look it up. But even stuff like TVs and electronics is easy to drop off...about 10 miles away. I recycle everything possible. Batteries, bulbs, spent oils n chems, appliances, etc. in addition to the weekly pickup of standard recyclable items. I'm no environmental extremist but I do try to recycle everything possible or have my disposables processed correctly.
More fake lawsuits from fake people paid a couple of bucks, I suspect. Funny thing is that they'd have lit up cigarettes anyway, and got addicted to a whole lot worse than a clean nicotine.Anyone else see this? This is bad. Upsetting. The attacks are forking out and morphing.

Don't be surprised if caffeine is next.......for a huge tax increase at least. gotta make up for the lost tobacco money doncha know.Yes! Especially the kid whose whole life is supposedly ruined because of his “nicotine addiction.” Ridiculous.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get in touch with my lawyer. We have a suit to file against Maxwell House for my caffeine addiction. It’s ruined my life, I tell ya!

Think I'd have to go with the Dell with Linux Mint on it then . Much easier to upgrade and that Nvidia graphics chip makes short work of video . I have no use for the cloud either , other than telling them where to shove the cloud . I don't like the trend of no optical drives included on laptops . Another ounce of freedom of choice going down the tubes .My 11” Air from 2011 has 128 gb. That was my one gripe with it. The 13” has 256 gb. Apple was just starting to push everyone to cloud storage, which I don’t dig.
The small drive was only a problem when I had all of my vast number of digital photos and my massive digital music collection on it. I moved the photos to backup drives. Apple’s photo library was part of the problem. It was nice for viewing and browsing pics - but its database was like a duplicate of every pic. So it was doubling the space needed for an already big collection. Stupid programmers!
I moved the music to an external drive. After that, the space was plenty. I mostly use that laptop for browsing and for Unix access to website servers that I manage. It wasn’t until I installed MS Office on it that the space shrank a lot.
Depending how you use it and how many apps you want on it, 128 gb is plenty. Apple does charge ridiculous amounts for upgrading the hard drives. And with Airs you had to purchase the size you wanted. It’s an integrated SSD drive that can’t be swapped out later. That part is a nuisance too.
@PapawBrett - Pay attention to the connections (USB, etc) because the Air is typically limited in those. Regular MacBooks (non-Air versions) are more flexible in connections. The Air is loved for being super-portable. Slim and lightweight. Also, the screens on both Air and non are glossy or at least they were. You want to make sure you’re okay with that. Some people prefer matte screens. Airs also have no internal DVD drives. You can’t pop in a movie or a CD. Regular MacBooks should have DVD drives.
That's where I get my parts from and I know BK does business with them as well . Definitely recommend them for PC's and parts .I've personally had a good experience several times with "Newegg.com" if that's any help. I still find the PC suits my needs better than a surfing machine. No doubt that MAC's are better made, but they do fail eventually. At least with the PC laptops, I can haul all those screws off the back and can replace "bits"![]()

Agreed. It's all based on the principle that the people shall own Nothing. Not your car (leases) your home (the government can stomp in on it any time for any reason) your music, your movies, your other software and so on.Think I'd have to go with the Dell with Linux Mint on it then .
