Thanks for the tip CMD. I learned on WordPerfect too. Also learned spreadsheeting with Lotus 123.
I probably really need to get a fresher copy of Office. I've known this for awhile. What's sad is lots of software is designed with MS platforms. So when you have to "connect" to , say, a speadsheet or word doc the only way for it to be seamless is if it's Word or Excel. Anything else and it either does not work, has quirks, or you have to go thru other gymnastics to make it work. I'm anticipating I could be seeing an increase in having to link to Excel spreadsheets so I should probably surrender and just get a new (or newer) copy of Office. My current copy of Excel is twitchy too. I link it up with AutoCAD and it does funky stuff it shouldn't be doing (and it's worse with AC2015 vs AC2012). The Apache stuff is even worse. If I were just writing the occasional document or a spreadsheet for personal use I would just use Apache. It works plenty good for that. Just anticipating I will need it beyond this.
I do the same thing.... I just let it ring thru. and when it happens and the wifey is sitting there she goes nuts because I wont answer it .... she feels that a ringing phone NEEDS to be answered... ( except when I call)

Same here! It’s rare for me to ever answer my phone. I check it throughout the day and call back when I have a break from coding or designing. Most things I do require a lot of focus. Calls interrupt and I might mess something up! (That’s my excuse anyway.

Sent you a PM. The version I have is from 2012. I haven’t tested it on Win 10, but it stands a better chance of working than the version from 2000.
I agree with you that with a background programmatic connection, AutoCAD would probably not work well with OpenOffice or others. I’ve had those types of issues. It’s why I stick with M$ for business use. It stinks, but they have us over a barrel.
If you won't . I will , I decided to change my MS account password a few days ago using the copy of Windoze and the email address linked to the account mind you . Result , account suspended due to suspicious activity . MS requires you to have a cellphone to receive a text message to recover the account , something I don't have due to me being unemployed . Emails to MS tech support went unanswered and a phone call resulted in a conversation that pizzed me off further . They refused to send the code to the email account that is linked to the MS account . I had to get BK to use his cellphone to recover the account . I am beyond angry at this crap , I'll have to push further into getting my games to run under linux as well as maybe getting an Apple desktop and souping it up a bit . I can't say what I really wanna say on here , enough F-bombs to set ya'lls ears on fire though .
There’s no excuse for that! I think they all enjoy frustrating us. All the big players do this crap. My 2012 iPad was running fine. Then suddenly I noticed a major slowdown. Apple admitted they do this to encourage sales of newer versions of their iPads and iPhones. What’s the consequence of their admission? Nothing! We all go buy more devices. Not me! Even if I had the money to do it.

Yes they do! And that's why they spend lots of time in court. FB, Twitter, Google and others are finding the same thing.
That's like when Apple slowed down the i4s to frustrate users into buying a new iphone. I'd be glad to get a new iphone if they give me the choice where I can stick my old i4.

Run into those vermin all the time. That's why I will never buy anything from Dell. The sales chick screwed me over some 15 years ago and didn't make good on it. No more Dell. I'll use a sun dial and my fingers before I buy a Dell.
I just need to stop being lazy about getting my games to run in linux and pull the plug on the SOB's all together .
I "almost" wish my Surface Pro would clunk. I would have a Linux laptop the next day. I have found that LibreOffice has excellent compatibility with Excel and WordPerfect.
I'd like to pull the plug on cable and satellite too. Another scam operation. They got us over a barrel and they know it. I'd seriously consider getting alternative viewing packages but if I cancel my cable subscription and keep only their isp services they up the price substantially. To the point where you don't save anything. And while I have isp options, they all suck by comparison (performance-speaking). Once we get some ISP competition these cable and sat companies are finished! The day will come once the lobbyists in DC wear out their welcome.
We have no competition here, thus the high prices. I gave up cable, then satellite, and finally Netflix. I don't plan to use any of them in the future either. The first two were just greedy, especially the satellite company. It finally reached a point when I said no. Now the isp is doing the same thing. The price has increased quite a bit, and I don't have faster speed either. I will say their customer service is decent mostly, if you can understand them that is.
When you finally do make the move you're gonna kick yourself for not doing it sooner . Linux allows you to be lazy compared to Windoze . Two games are keeping that POS on my HDD right now , I do everything else through Manjaro Linux . Linux is have it your way , Windoze is their way or else .
Your love of those two games exceeds your hate for MS. Based on how much I know you hate MS I'm guessing those games are pretty awesome. Some day there will be games that will make yours obsolete and you will be set free. I mean, who plays pong and asteroids anymore?
found some moldy cheese in the drawer of the fridge.... so, I ate it... it was awesome, but then again it was blu Roqufort ...... and why is it that "moldy" cheese ( blu cheese varieties) dont grow even more mold on them??? Ive seen unattended Gouda go "bad" and get moldy in several days... but yet the chunk of Roqufort I just had had been in there for about 2 months and looked the same as day 1.... things that make you go Hmmmmm or is it Yummmm
and why is sour cream okay but sour milk isnt
