HAHA, I thought it was Wednesday too. I checked after I read your post. Time flies by when you are having fun. Okay, I'm being a little sarcastic. I was potting up some cactus babies. That might/might not be fun, depending on who you ask.

Yikes! I'm gonna go ahead and say my Thursday-not-Wednesday was more fun than yours.

Robin, it's huge that it isn't in the lymph nodes! That's wonderful news. You go girl! Keep us updated on the surgery. I'm kinda shocked that you weren't moved on to an oncology surgeon, given the serious type of cancer you have. God! I've got so much hope and prayers going over to you right now.

    Yes, still had blood drawn.

Soooooo, I didn't want to say anything until I had a more definitive answer. I had sent my records to another doctor. This one is more aggressive and an oncology surgeon, not a general surgeon, and he has looked over my records and we are going to proceed with HIPEC surgery. OMG I am so happy and thankful for this hope that he has given me.

Tomorrow morning I will call his office to schedule the consultation and get everything set in motion.

Tonight I'm having a glass of wine to celebrate.

The Doctor is in Flint Michigan and only about forty five minutes from my son's house. We will have to fly cause hubby hates those long drives. LOL

I will be asking the doc if I still get chemo or just drop the Avastin. Whew. I'm on a roller coaster of emotion right now but so very happy yet scared. It is a Major surgery that will take five hours at the Minimum. Can go much longer and the recovery time is longer too. It will be so worth it to get this cut out of me.
Prayers that this works for you:wub:

The first doc wasn't an oncology surgeon. Just a General and has a board to answer to or get approval from?

Could be my tumors shrunk enough, in this time frame from starting the new chemo, that allows the surgery to happen?

I honestly don't know the answer but I do know that surgery is the only chance I really have. The mutation almost guarantees that the new chemo will stop working in time.

My saving grace is that it is not in my lymph nodes.
Sounds like this oncology doc is the way to go. How did you discover him/her?

It was never in my lymph nodes. That is why I'm hopeful that surgery is my answer. *saying prayers, crossing fingers*

When I find out time lines I will be sure to update :)

My daughter in law works for a gastroenterologist. His name was mentioned by one of the doctors and it was out of the blue, not knowing about me or my situation. He stated that this doc was aggressive. She happened to be seeing a patient that had the same surgery done by the Flint doctor and had he high praise for the doctor.

Daughter in law is a nurse practitioner. It's nice having an inside scoop on doctors ;)

The 'seeding' was so extensive that surgery was not an option in the beginning. Honestly, in the beginning, HIPEC scared the bejeebus outta me. Funny how desperation can change ones perspective.

My mother used to call this "dangling Divine Providence". I hope that it is for you.
