Way to go David! Our bed frame is a boxpring, plus mattress but we shove thin wooden boards between them to keep it firm. Another tip is to flip the mattress every 3 months or so. Personally I prefer the low count sheets as they let your body breathe. The higher the count, the more "artificial material" they feel to me, almost like that microfiber. In other words, the "high count" is not necessarily better, because the comparison should be the quality of the fibre itself. In fact I often go to Etsy where I can find unused percale sheets. The vintage ones are softer, prettier and cooler despite having maybe only a 250 threadcount. Of course low thread count probably doesn't work so well in the deep freeze of winter, but that isn't a problem I have here.:D LOL. I purchased one of those rolled mattresses and a simple bed frame for under $300 total with free shipping from Amazon for my sis and her hubs when they came over, and they were most impressed. Said it was very comfortable, but I doubt it would be for a long haul (i.e. 3 years). Here's hoping you get better rest. Another thing to consider if you're not feeling rested is to check your habits, do you drop off easily, eat to stay awake and so on? If so, then you need to see a C-Pap expert and have a sleep test done. It's easier to diagnose sleep/breathing problems if you have a partner but not so much if you're hogging the whole bed to yourself. A wife will tell you if you're snorting snoring and choking or sound like you're not breathing, but corgis don't, because they're too polite:lol:

Afternoon.... It is afternoon isn't it? Not sure cause I was up after 3 hours sleep. Stayed up awhile than laid back down for an hour. After that said heck with it and went to the store for food. Went to American freight to check out beds. Didn't like what they had. They were cheap enough but didn't look made as well as I would have liked. So off to another store where I saw a plain platform (no head or foot board) on the website but no info on it. Well it was just what I was looking for. No head or foot board, slats spaced just over 3 inches and less than $200. ($193.45 out the door):thumb: So if the mattress gets her Tuesday as FedEx is predicting it'll be prefect. See I'm taking four days off work starting Wednesday and go back on the 5th. That means I could get the old bed to the curb before the trash guys get here. And the new mattress would have most of the day to expand.
Something else.. I had a code for $150 off. Well that was $100 on the mattress and $50 for free sheets. Well I looked at the sheets and they were a 250 thread count. The sheets I have now are 600 thread count and I have a new set of queen sheets I bought a number of years back when I first was thinking of getting a bed. And they are 400 thread count. I didn't want their sheets but couldn't take them off the code. A search gave me a page with codes and I found one that worked. So I got the whole $150 off the bed or $21 off the mattress and a free mattress protector. Have to watch coupons and discount code stuff. It's not always a better deal.:)

I've been on a sleep machine for over 12 years now. Flipping the mattress would be a problem but I can turn it now and then.. Alexander Signature Hybrid

Good morning in here !

Tidbit...some may find useful, some useless...but it's one of the reasons I am not one to grab a fever reducer when I get a fever and just ride it out (unless it gets really high)
Robin's upcoming treatment made me think of this.

The purpose of a fever is to raise the body's temperature enough to kill off (certain) bacteria and viruses

Yes fever is also an attempt to knock out infection too. I don't wait until it is super high though, it just depends on what I think it is stemming from.

Same here! Our bodies have certain important tools built in and I prefer to let them have a go at illness before trying other options.

Our food, air and water have been polluted with junk, and IMO that makes it harder for our bodies to fight back.

Years ago I had the most wonderful physician. I went to him when I had a sinus infection that wasn’t getting better. He had frequent sinus infections too. He told me he did an experiment on himself where he took antibiotics for one infection and then didn’t for the next one. In both cases, he got better within about 7 - 10 days. This was before everyone carried on about overuse of antibiotics. It’s one of the things that encouraged me to let my body heal itself before turning to other approaches.

one more time... Ive known about the fever thing for years... I would add on a couple more blankets, line the bed with beach towels and sweat it out... on the other hand, the wifey hates to sweat so she wont even consider the overheat process... and she wonders why it takes a couple more days to feel better...

and.... when one becomes really "sick", the shivers ( feeling cold when running a fever) also increases body heat to help burn up the bugs... and it also fakes one out to find a warmer place since one is feeling "cold".

So many little things that we ignore but are sure signs that we should recognize....

since we are on the subjects... pinched nerves and the mysterious effects...
for those of us with a pinched nerve ( somewhere) know the pain involved, but it can be quite confusing as to where the source and end results culminate... I get a pinched nerve in my neck on the right side about 2" below the skull... the results, a migraine style headache, sinus swelling, earache, and a general pressure pain along the jawline... all on the right side of my face/head... sometimes I feel it coming on and go into my "therapy" motions... I tilt my head to the left and look at my left shoulder and rub the Bjesus out of my right side of the neck... about 30 minutes later relief...

what gets me is there is no pain at the point of the pinched nerve but alot of pain where that main nerve leads to.... and its ability to cause physical changes even tho there are no actual stimulants to cause those changes ( swelled sinuses with no irritant ) when I first got these headaches I thought it was a sinus condition and tried all sorts of sinus related meds to combat the pain... nothing worked.... I started paying attention to how I was sitting/posture when the headaches kicked in and found that reclining on my left side on the sofa while watching TV was the prime condition to kick these headaches off... and an AHH HA moment occured... my head was generally tilted to the right shoulder ( pinching the nerve) I put 2+2 together and found the answer was 7... yup it didnt make sense then either, but still, pinched nerves cause pain in entirely different areas of the body.... the hard part of this all is trying to determine if its a pinched nerve or if the "pain/condition" is actually at the point where it hurts...

One of the worst things to do is sleep with a window open and have the cold air blow on your shoulders and neck. Sure fire way to screw up your neck. Wear a t-shirt at night if you're gonna have a window open. That's what my chiro always told me.

Absolutely true! Referred pain is not limited to nerves either. Our muscles can have what are called trigger points. They are like knots or nodules that can be massaged out to get tremendous relief. And the locations are surprising. I used trigger point massage to heal my “frozen” shoulder that brought excruciating pain. I was sure I needed surgery. Thankfully I got relief without it.

interesting.... probably why I do the massage on the neck when the headaches kick in... there is no pain there at the pinched nerve point but there is a hard lump that gets "special" attention....

I guess I have the suboccipital group...

Suboccipital Group | The Trigger Point & Referred Pain Guide

the X marks the spot is exactly where I massage and the shaded pain areas are where I experience the most intense discomfort......

now if I can find the nerve that causes the pain where that metal rod in my leg is.... ;)
ohh ummm ;) I think the metal rod is the reason :)
