Robin, sorry you still are a bit under the weather still. I hope you can go home today too!

LA, spices are wonderful. They can make or break a meal. My mother always loved using spice in her food. I don't know how people eat bland food, but some do. I don't have fresh spice like you, but I do have a variety of spices here in my cabinet. I used to love trying different spices in my dishes, but I don't experiment much these days. I do enjoy hearing about your adventures with it though.

Yep, spices can really enhance a meal. And it can also kill a meal (been there, done that). I admire cooks/chefs who know how to use spices..

Get out of there!

Definitely not happening today. Maybe tomorrow if I don't cramp up after doing the clear diet. Tomorrow morning, if all goes well today, I can actually have real food.

If I do start with the cramping, NG tube gets put in :(. That will mean at least two more days in here.

Bummer, Robin! Going without real food is horrible, I know from past experience. You never get any rest in a hospital either. Thanks for the update. I said a special prayer for the current circumstances.

Thank you for the prayer. Because of the severe pain I was in, going without food hasn't been that bad for me. Now that things are better and I am tolerating the liquid diet, now I am getting hungry.

They have chik filet here! I'm am so jealous!

Probably a misguided attempt to compete with the IPA's by some idiot . Bock should be Bock , not hop tea . No balance in IPA's , no art behind them , no finesse .

I'm not an IPA guy at all. Just don't like that hoppy taste. Too bitter for me.

hmmm... had a run today that put me on one of our famous ferrys... the wait time can be "lengthy" due to the number of vehicles that use the ferry... sometimes a double trip occurs before one can get onboard...
as I was sitting there waiting for the ferry to return from the other side I saw a rather large bird fly by... it then landed on a hi power line along with others of the same kind... I then noticed that they were turkey vultures.... o_O

I knew wait times could be long but...... ;)

Robin, how's the clear diet going? Hopefully, you're not cramping and can eat some real food tomorrow.

Clear diet is going good today. Trying real food tomorrow morning. I'm not needing morphine tonight.

If there were any cramping today, NG tube would have been placed.

Funny how just passing gas is celebrated here.

Passed some after 8 yr old granddaughter heard the conversation with the nurse. After me making a bit of noise  she turned and gave me a high five

I know....TMI. BWAHAHAHAHA!

The spices I got are seeds - is that considered fresh? I have no idea. Maybe they are dried before packaging. Cumin seeds I had to toast for a few minutes in a dry pan before grinding. Even that was an awesome aroma! They were not the easiest to grind by hand though.

Also, coriander seeds. A bit easier to grind.

Then cardamom. Had to read up on that one. In most Indian food you use the green rather than the black. I bought the decorticated which means the tiny black seeds are removed from the seed pod. Didn’t cost extra and saved me from picking out pod bits. I’m patient, but that’s more work than I wanted.

Cardamom is delicious in coffee! You put in around a teaspoon per mug with the grounds before brewing. Last time I added a bit of cinnamon too. Yummy!

Yep, spices can really enhance a meal. And it can also kill a meal (been there, done that). I admire cooks/chefs who know how to use spices..

Yeah, I’ve had a fail... or ten. :)
