How about @PapawBrett? Will your area be affected by the hurricane?

Hugo in '89 nearly leveled this area. Most houses were lucky if they only need new roofs.
But we are 200 miles inland, and 600 feet above sea level. It would have to a strong 'cane that tracks directly for us. Latest we've heard is arrives this area Thursday / Friday, then a High Pressure to the North stalls it over the Carolinas. Probably localized flooding, maybe wind / rain damage as well.
And the company I work for will still be shipping treated lumber on Friday. They just will ...

Nearing the end of my pool/landscape extravaganza! It looks beautiful and I’ve been being a handyman, installed some self closing hinges today. Not in my skill set, but they work and are installed! Also potted a few plants for accent touches.

Inspector comes back again tomorrow then I can get the final finishings lined up (pebble sheen for you pool folks), then water!

It’s been a painstaking project and I’ve learned so much. I subbed out all my own contractors so I could afford my dream backyard, scheduled all my permit inspections and picked out every detail, right down to the color of the grout. Pretty darn proud of myself.

Bronze, been thinking about you as I'm watching Florence barrel towards your area. Do you put up hurricane shutters like we do in Florida?

I've been keeping an eye on it because they can fake all the forecasters out and shift directions.

I'm again back at my son's house and taking it very easy in the food department. No solids until after my consultation tomorrow. The appointment is scheduled for 2:45.

I honestly don't think the hospital blocked this site. I think that the guest wifi can't handle a lot of people on it. On another forum, not all the icons show up. I was able to see ECF and post if I was up really early (like not having a good night lol) and most people are still sleeping. It was only after things got busier that the site quit loading.

At least I know how to create my own hotspot wifi. ;)

I don't know if I ever mentioned that the cancer creates a liquid that builds up in my belly. It's called This liquid creates a sometimes unbearable pressure. Since I've been off chemo for a few weeks, the liquid isn't being slowed down. On Thursday they drained 1.8 liters and today they drained another 1.3. Last night the pain/ache kept me from getting much sleep.

Came home and took a much needed nap! :D

Chaos reigns here with three kids ages 8, 5 and almost 3. Loving it ....... for now. BWAHAHAHAHA

Just gotta make it through tonight but this time I did accept a prescription for a pain med... just in case. ;)

Everyone in the path of this hurricane hunker down and stay safe !!

I will update again after I get back home tomorrow.

Hey, that’s quite an accomplishment! Well done. There really are a million and one details that go into such a project. I admire your tenacity. I hope you enjoy it all thoroughly.

I’m impressed that you could nap with all that commotion! You were tired. I know water retention is painful, and I can’t imagine how much fluid like that would hurt. Stay strong! We will give you prayer cover to get you to that doc and for the best outcomes all the way through.

Yes, they can reach us. If it is a strong, fast moving cane headed at us we will get slammed. Like I say, it's happened only three times since 1954 but it does happen. Most of the canes that hit the Carolinas just dump a half foot of rain and maybe 40 - 50mph winds here while the coast gets ravaged. We dodge the worst of it the large majority of the time. But if a cane wants to trash us it can. This one has all the makings of one of those. Floyd dump a yard of rain just some 30 miles from here. We got like 10". Seems like we're on the good edge of bad as opposed to devastating.

Stats show that both canes and twisters are less the last 5 - 10 years versus normal. Twisters are way down. We just hear about them more because our population grows affecting more people and plus the wacko tree hugging press likes to play them up to make us believe there is global warming.

I knew you boys would say, “Meh. A little wind and rain.” You just don’t want us old hens clucking over you. I see how it is. ;)

I subscribe to, "It is what it is". I can't stop a hurricane so bring it on and we'll deal with the fallout. With any luck we'll be on the southwest side. Not as floody on that side.

I’m so bad at uploading pics here, but you get the idea. I did a built in BBQ too.

I think Charleston might miss the worst of it. But it's still nutty to be there. My neighbor and her sister are going to Bald Head Island tomorrow. That's right in the path.

They’re all flying in, flights are booked and hotel reserved... sort of glad I opted out.

Thing is, the canes are lining up one after the other. Looks like the night sky around O'Scare airport. A line of planes landing. Each two minutes behind the other.

Most of the canes over the last 5 - 10 years seem to have gone in the gulf. We've been relatively light on the east coast. We're due.

We have had more than normal tornadoes and bad weather. When Harvey came in, it wasn't alone. Jose and Katia were also along for the ride. The thing about Harvey was it just stayed there and did not move inland as fast as a hurricane normally would. I don't recall this happening in the past.

The hurricane that came in your way, was tailed by two more storms. I instantly thought of Harvey, Jose and Katia. I haven't looked to see if they are still tailing the first one though. I think global warming is blamed when weather manipulation is the real culprit. Sure we all know this is hurricane season. Most people have their nose so far into their phones they have no idea what is going on. I have noticed a huge uptick in geoengineering here. From what I've heard it is pretty much worldwide. It is going on here almost daily.
