My heart goes out to you Classy. I wonder if the exploratory surgery hastened the end? I know I was expecting our sweet lady to be here a little bit longer, though I thought that it might be "sooner" than "later" with the constant blockages she was getting. That last week or so she was in more than out of hospital. Seemed like every time she sprang from hospital, she had to have Rick do a u-turn when they were halfway home. So I didn't wish that for her either but....

She never had the surgery. They did a CT scan and she was full of cancer, so surgery was canceled. I agree about the constant blockages.....I think the aggressiveness of her type of cancer hastened the end. Like you said, she was more in the hospital than out.

I really hope she had made it home. I know she had family in Michigan. But I thought of her daughter who moved to FL from Michigan to be there with her and help her. Then my heart broke some more thinking that her daughter may not have been able to be with her before she passed if she didn’t make it back to FL. It’s all so painful.
She did make it home, but went right back into the hospital. Her daughter was there with her. I don't know if she made it back home from the hospital in Florida.

I'm still on Windows 7 on my desktop.

Stay with it until support completely stops. Win 10 is a nightmare. It has nearly complete control of the update process. Some of the updates change your setting, including some privacy setting. My final event happened when Win 10 installed something that kept the CPU going at 25% with none of my installed programs running. I had to reboot a couple of times to slow it down.
@retic1959 got me going on Linux, I like it but can be rather complicated as you get into it.

We had a terrible storm here last night. I had to shut the computer down, unplug the modem with all wires, unplug the window unit, and eventually I even unplugged the fan. I lost power several times, and it kept coming back on, and surging. I was not a happy camper. After several minutes of my lights flickering, I called the electric company. They made a ticket for me. (The flickering continued until the lights went totally out.) About an hour and a half later the lights went totally out. I hope this is not the new normal. It seems after the "smart" stuff was installed, things took a downturn, especially this year. I lost count on how many times I've lost power this year alone. Today an even worse storm is supposed to come. They got my power back on in the wee hours. Now I'm running the a/c window unit wide open, just in case I lose power again.

Well guys, I'm still in a Robin sulk. I wont lie about it. I can't come to grips with it and I'm just plain exhausted. I suspect it will be a long while. My Mom always told me, Earth is for the living so as Andy Dufresne would say, "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'."

I ordered a new mobile plan today from Spectrum Mobile. Spectrum is my cable/internet company. They recently became an MVNO and they use the Verizon grid...same as my current plan with Verizon. I almost have to have Verizon here because it's the only reception that's worth a crap. The cost of my new plan will be $101/mo versus my current plan that is $138/mo. Additionally, I will have a new phone i8 and can ditch my clunker i4. I get more data too. And my bill will reduce by $58 in two years when the interest free phone loan is paid off. Can you say, "No Brainer"?

Bronze, it is not a surprise that you are still in a Robin sulk. I would imagine most of us are. (especially on this forum) This isn't something you get over after a couple of days, like nothing ever happened. Robin may be gone from this world, but she stays on in my memories. I will never forget her, or Chak. We just lost Chak a little over a year ago, and it still hurts.

Congrats on the new plan, and saving some money. That is always a good thing!

You're right. For now, however, Robin is nowhere near my memory. The thought of Robin in my memory scares the living hell out of me.

It's as complicated or as simple as you make it . You could have stayed with Kubuntu or gone to Linux Mint and the terminal would just be a listing in the menu . But where's the fun in that , you're too much like me , you like to tinker . Plus there's satisfaction in running an OS that doesn't hold your wallet for ransom and takes a smarter than the average bear to maintain . Manjaro is cutting edge , Mint is a piece of cake .

I do understand. That is why I haven't been able to access them enough to add to your thread for her. It is just too much, too soon. I know the memories are there, but they are just too painful to delve into more than I have already. I have to be able to put a wall there for a while. It isn't 100% by any means. I just take a little at a time. But right now even that is just too much to explore. I am trying to keep myself busy, and that has helped a little.

    That's horrible!

Damned "smart" crap -- figures it makes life worse, not better! :-x
