I feel like I’m missing something regarding the windows update. I don’t mess with my computer much. I open google chrome, check my emails, and that’s about it. Sometimes I
shop on amazon or research something. Then I close my laptop and that’s it. Windows hasn’t asked me to update anything, I’m guessing it should?
It’s working fine so I’m not going to go looking for trouble.
What version are you on? I have Win10 Home. It won't ask you to update, unless you put in active hours. Even then it may not. It will download it, and then apply the updates off of active hours. If you have that window open, you can select restart now, to begin the process. I have active hours set, but I usually check myself. I usually just put my computer to sleep, so it doesn't always get updates right away. So I manually check them, especially on Tuesdays. I used to hibernate my computer, until it had trouble after an update a good while back. It wouldn't wake from hibernation, so I just put it to sleep at night these days.
I don't have a Mac, nor can I afford one. I was a hair away from going to Linux, but chickened out. This was a couple of years ago or so. I have been mad at Microsoft now for years. I guess it started with Windows 8. After I figured out version 8, I was happy with it. Then the fiasco major update to 8.1 ruined my computer. It took days of getting help to get it straightened out via pc manufacturer. Luckily I was well within my warranty period. Of course now it is out of warranty, and been that way for quite some time. What they have been doing lately though, has my dander up.
This afternoon I downloaded the Media Creation Tool to my usb flash drive. I needed a newer one than I had. That went without a hitch, but took forever. The problem was burning a dvd off of the usb. They have changed stuff up, and made burning dvds like jumping
through hoops. It wouldn't accept my old dvds, because they were probably too slow. The newer ones I've had for years now too. There wasn't enough room for the massive ISO I wanted to burn. So there ya go. I can still burn one, but I have to use a 64 bit computer like I have. I would need new dvds, which I cannot afford. Everyone I know now practically ditched their pc for a smart phone. I never went that route, and prefer a desktop for my pc experience. It is much easier on the eyes for me.
