I installed ssd's in my dual boot beast yesterday . Unbelievable the difference it makes . Manjaro KDE boots completely ready to go from pressing enter in 5-7 seconds . Loading an app is instantaneous , it runs at the speed of memory . Winbloze 10 boots completely ready to go in 20 seconds . Loading an app takes 1-2 seconds . No spinning blue circle anymore . Apparently I ordered the correct parts , wonders never cease .![]()
There is an SSD in the Win 10 Surface Pro that was retired due to inadequate cooling and a Win 10 update that caused it to run around 25% CPU with only MS services and processes running. I never could find a fix in any forums; some experienced it, some did not.
That SSD was lightening. I never measured load times; I was just amazed at it speed. I'd like to get one for this refurbished Dell that I run Linux/Win 7 on. Once you use and SSD it is angonizing to wait and wait on 5400 rpm drive. I am spoiled with a real first world problem.
