@LAwaters I made my own kombucha tea for a while. I eventually got tired of the maintenance and currently just buy a bottle every now and then. Anything fermented is good for the gut, and I've read lots of good things about turmeric and inflammation.

The thing that worked for me (with my foot) was getting off the grains and sugar. I still use honey, but it doesn't affect me like sugar. I cheated a while back and had a big slice of cheesecake, gluten free. Went for a run that evening and the swelling in my hands that night was unbelievable. Do a little research, you'll be surprised.

Sorry.. Crunchy Hippie when it comes to food!

DD, I am glad you weren't hurt. Sorry to hear about your vehicle!

Well I just found out another hurricane is supposed to be striking Mexico from the Pacific side. Then it is supposed to move across Texas. The local weather guy said moisture from the Pacific, and no mention of another bad hurricane. They have been spraying here for days too. I hope this one poops out before it can do damage. After this, supposedly we will see dry weather for a little while. The ground is still spongy here. So I am not happy at all to hear about this. We don't need another drop of rain for at least 2-3 weeks. Texas has had more than enough of that.

Sorting thru drill bits or whipping out your magnifier?

My drill bits are permanently sorted.

When I did use them, I took out the one I needed and when done, put it back into the slot it came from. This is easily done when you hardly ever drill.

And I just snap a pic then zoom it in

Thats not exactly the same thing.

I’m with April. Zooming in live and on the fly requires a steadier hand than mine. Most often I do this to read the fine print. When did they start making the fine print so doggone tiny?

Oh wow! I’m really glad you’re okay. Sheesh! You’ve had a time of it lately. Sending hugs to you with the request that you pass one along to Mrs DD, who’s had a bit of stress worrying about you.

Yay for Cunchy Hippies! I was wondering recently how your feet were feeling. I’m glad you found a solution. Good for you!!! I’m also mostly off of sugar and using honey instead.

As for gluten, so far being off of refined bread products has helped inflammation and my gut. The sourdough approach (being fermented) helps break down the gluten to make it more easily digestible. Doing a long period of proofing (rise time) with the bread I make is the key. At 36 hrs, it’s best of all for the gluten sensitive. Right now I do 12 hr.

You are right though - grains are causing bad health issues for a lot of people. I’ve looked into it some. There’s a lot to learn and a lot of it just makes you mad at how our foods are being tampered with and ruined.

This was the actual wheel. I asked what would have happened had I managed to convince myself that the loud jet-engine sound was normal, and just ignored it? They said it would have eventually become very overheated, jammed and would have busted the blower motor -- making it a $725 repair . :)

You win the Smart & Thrifty Sherlock Award! It’s seriously an accomplishment to be observant like that. The time, hassle and money saved is a darn good feeling.

So this is what I did Sunday. Cleaned up the fire pit area and split firewood from the oak I took down in the Spring. Ready for weenies and s'mores. And when I run out of firewood I have a 100-foot dead poplar just 25 feet from the fire pit that I can take down.

Weenies & s’mores at Bronze’s house this weekend! We are all invited! (That’s what I heard.)

I heard about that hurricane too. Some are saying it’ll be the first time a hurricane traveled across the desert. I guess they usually lose moisture and get downgraded to a regular storm. I haven’t seen the recent forecasts on it though.

mead and beer are fermented :)

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Good Morning Army. Or maybe not...
Cruising along with a load of steel, heading home...
Never made it out of Ohio. Dropped a fan belt, and the coolant, around the 15mm on I-77 South. Might have to spend another night out, and lose a days work (tomorrow).
Just a reminder that this is the trucking industry.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

I do the same thing but I'm still sorting through my Dad's drill bits. He died 25 years ago. Can you say procrastination? :)

that or he had ALOT of drill bits :)
A bit of both actually.

I had an idler pulley go out. It, in turn, tore up the serpentine belt which wrapped around the radiator neck and ripped the radiator apart. A $10 idler pulley caused $750 in towing and repairs. I was in the middle of East Jabip, SC.
