I shut down for those 10 days. Write them off knowing I will never get them back. Shut my face and stay as far away as I can. It's all about survival.

Like clamping down on your finger with your teeth after getting shot so the killer can't hear where you are.
I try to look at the bright side. It's only for 10 days. Some people do this with their spouses.

I’m sure your wife will enjoy the time with her mom. And you might too.

Should I mention the name Aurtho Fuentes ?

Sure. Go ahead. Make it worse! :p

The only cigar I miss is the Ashton Maduro. Made by Chateau de la Fuente and wrapped with Connecticut broadleaf maduro. Dark, chocolatey and spicy. Probably why Dragon’s Fire is the flavor I settled on. I need to blend up some Dragon’s Booty.

Oh wow. You’re bringing back some memories. I didn’t know which was better: no more ex, or no more of those particular in-laws. I wish them well... and thank the Lord every day for my relief from all of that.

My mother in law was not one of my biggest fans. My wife and I had been married for several years. All of sudden she started getting calls from several former flames of hers, essentially asking her out. Once she ask how this guy found her and why call now. Turns out, my mother in law had tracked them down and told them the marriage was collapsing, had spoken of him and she would soon be free of me. Today I can chuckle about it, at the time, well...

You were close to a Jerry Springer episode.

I was absolutely dumb founded when it happened, I had never ever heard of such a thing or even near it. Looking back, I admire my self-restraint.
I knew she was a little batty.

The fact that she really was a nut helped me. Add to that the surprise or shock kind of left me speechless. The call I heard was not the first but this one was the first that my wife thought to inquire about the reason for the call. Now Mrs CMD's expression when she got off the phone and was telling me the conversation was priceless. That expression helped, too.

IMO, this is how you avoid getting “hooked” when a genuine nut casts their bait. Fighting back, getting angry and such never helps. That’s just going deeper down their rabbit holes and through their looking glass. Once you do that, you are on their turf. As the Queen told Alice, over there “All ways are MY ways!”

The only way to win is not to play. :)

We borrowed Ready Player One from the library. Watched it yesterday. Movies these days really assault your senses! It was a lot different from the novel, but the overall theme was the same. I agree with @PapawBrett that the CGI was well done.

It’s really an update of Willy Wonka. Spielberg even looked into getting Gene Wilder to play Halliday, the genius programmer who created the VR that everyone lives inside.

The movie has a theme of how we we should live in reality too, not just virtual reality. But it makes VR so much more appealing.

Then there’s the real point: as Elon Musk and others are urging humans to be ready to merge with machines. Halliday has died, but first he uploads his consciousness to his virtual world/AI. He was “never comfortable in reality” and “couldn’t figure out how to connect with people” - which pretty much describes snowflakes. The rest of us are losing that ability too quickly too. In the VR, you get to look like you want to look and do what you want to do. You still need to win gold coins to do it.

It’s all a gilded cage if you ask me. The real path to joy is in reality.

I have not read nor seen Ready Player One. It sounds like something I would be interested in though. I like to SEE dystopian movies, but I don't care to experience it in real life. It seems there are some who are making their life work bringing it into reality. We live in scary times.

FYI - just had my first cup of that fermented turmeric tea. Took a few days longer to ferment maybe because of the ultra dry climate here. Fermenting like this with honey & lemon smooths out the bitterness of turmeric. I added about half a teaspoon of honey to my cup.

Results: Very good! It’ll take a little while to see the reduced inflammation benefits.
