We have been using porcelain heaters in the hallway near the House Bath, and in the Master Bath for several years now. I was just quoted $4.40 / gallon for propane so we will continue until it gets really cold. But our ceramic heater are both several years old.
$4.40/gallon!!! Are you serious? I freaked when it went to $3 some 6 years ago. I was spending $600+ a month to heat my home. That's when my neighbor and I got our neighbors together and got the gas company to lay some lines in our neighborhood.

I don't need the air heated. I need me heated. That's why I like radiant heaters.

I miss these old radiators from a house I owned in the 80’s in PA. A hot water system powered by a gas furnace back when natural gas was cheap. Nothing has ever worked better to offer deep warmth even in bitter winter.

It didn’t dry your sinuses like forced air. You had to bleed them periodically. Otherwise they just worked. Almost too well! And my cats loved them. :)

I rented an apartment years ago. It was a big old house owned by a funeral home. There were six units in it. The loft in the six car garage is where they stored the caskets. They had those old radiators...steam powered. They had those whistles on them to let out the excess pressure. Suckers would whistle all day and night. But they were very comfortable.

Too many political ads here, and people knocking on my door, leaving flyers. I’m so over it.

Those radiators are my favorite. Had them in my home growing up, apartments I rented in CT and Seattle. They gave off the coziest heat ever!

David thanks for the update on the toaster oven. I was st Costco this week and saw it and thought of you. Hope your ear is feeling better.

I did manage to finally get out of bed. Finished cleaning out a closet and tossed the ball in the pool for the pups.

You reminded me of a funny morning prayer a friend sent me:

Lord, so far today I am doing well. I haven’t gossiped, lied, lost my temper, eaten chocolate or used my credit card. However, I am going to be getting out of bed soon and I’m going to need a lot of help after that. :)

Afternoon...Been up since 4am. Had to because that cup tea caused major sweating. So been to the store and other than washing the bedding I'm doing nothing. Changed my mind on the toaster oven. I'd need a bigger stand to put it on and the cooler temps this week remind me I need a new radiant heater. Need to see if I can find one that will last more than one winter. I've had a couple of these and I really like it. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Radiant-Quartz-Heater-DF1511-AW-White/929613110 But it can't get through one winter before the darn high temp sensor makes it stop working on high. Have to do some looking.

I know this is a lot more expensive than what you are looking at at Walmart, but have you ever considered one of these:

EdenPURE® Classic

I have two of the older ones that we have used for several years and they are both still going strong. They even got us through the first week of January this year when our furnace died and we had to wait for the new one to be installed.

I had a heater once about 3 years ago that looked similar to that EdenPure one. I bought it at Sam's at the end of the season. It didn't make it through the end of the winter. It was nice while it lasted, which was about two months or so. I find gas heat to be better than electric heat though. I don't have gas here at this place, sadly. I'm not sure what I will use this winter.

As a matter of fact I was just looking at this one.. https://www.menards.com/main/heatin...941-c-5617.htm?tid=8230968435441297766&ipos=3
My house sits on a concrete slab. So I can have the heat up but the air by the floor will still feel cold. And I only use a heater when I here and up.

Pretty good price on that EdenPure.

Get a wood stove. Super reliable! And good exercise splitting wood.

I once slept on an air mattress in a warm room that had a concrete slab sub-floor. Woke up after a few hours knowing how it feels to be a popsicle.

Nothing in the world like a good wood fire! Sadly many locales have banned them.

$2.88/gallon here in KY. We filled up. I wished we had a much larger tank.

150 gallons, plus those little ceramic heaters, will get me through the winter. But I still have to call the office Monday and see about that price. Should be something they can do ...
If worse comes to worse, the Gas Pack is 19 years old. Replacing it with heating oil wouldn't be too terrible if the savings are decent.
