Decided to change my DNS to the one Ret gave us the other day IN MY ROUTER ONLY. I left everything else as is including my laptop and iPhone. I confirmed that anything that communicates through my router (hard wired or wifi) will go through that DNS server system regardless of what the DNS settings are in the connected devices. So far so good. My pages are snapping in and out just fine so far. I will monitor it for awhile before calling it a win but I'm liking what I am seeing so far. I think the slow downs and problems I was having yesterday were related to something other than the new DNS setting. Perhaps messing around while changing the setting caused issues but it wasn't due to the new DNS servers. Rebooting my modem, router, and devices solved whatever problem I was having yesterday.

Hello Army. Back from Ohio, Mamaw had steak and angel hair noodles ready when I got home.
After truck stop hot dogs and sandwiches for two days, that was delightful !

Pappy, no need to worry, for Speaker Pelosi is going to Save The World :pervy:
I will be 60 next year. Maybe by then I will be ready for the "camera up both ends" treatment. Maybe ....

It was probably AT&T's outages that caused the issues yesterday , I'm back to normal with it as well . BTW those b.a.s.t.a.r.d.s. block Cloudflare if you're unfortunate enough to have them as an ISP .

if things keep going the way they are, we will end up with a military dictatorship in about 15 yrs...

uniformed people asking to "see your papers".... o_O

OOOOOOH, BK, I fear that you are correct. Societal entropy is increasing at an alarming rate and Rosseau's social contract, which once kept us a civil society, is not just breaking down, it is no longer enforceable.

I'm thinking my issue was not ATT related only because as soon as I rebooted the problem went away instantly.

Does ATT block others or just Cloudfare? Wondering if they attempt to force their customers to use their dns servers.

Does anyone know what dns is assigned when the setting is on automatic in my laptop? I’m assuming it assigns my isp but then I’m curious who my router assigns (which is also on automatic). And if the router rules then it doesnt matter what windows assigns to my laptop. I’m guessing my isp also assigns my router because its their signal. Did that make sense or did y’all give up on this conversation long ago like I would of?

    bad joke time...

lady returns to the Dr's to get the news of her tests...

Dr asks her if she wants to hear the good news or bad news first
the lady sez the good news

Dr tells her that the very rare uncurable leathal desease she has is going to be named after her....
Oh jeez! Woman walks into doctor's office to ask her husband's condition. "He's in a very, very serious state, but he'll survive only if he gets nookie daily, three hot meals daily and props his feet up all day" Woman walks out of office to husband's hospital bed. "What did the doctor say?" asks husband. She replies "You're going to die".

I think the router rules due to it being first in line and if all is automatic, I'll bet the ISP is your DNS server. But I'm an old guy and probably know nothing and so my bets will be losers.

I will forsake the internet, email, cell phones and all other online connectivity before I'll ever use AT&T again or knowingly give them another dime of my money.

I hope they go bankrupt. I'm the founding member and chairman of the AT&T Graveside Urination Committee.

CMD is right . If your set to automatic your ISP set's your DNS .

I dunno about others but it wouldn't surprise me at all . AT&T are as arrogant as MS when it comes down to it .
