Got asked if I wanted to take off today.. Silly question.. YES!.. Still dealing with this cold anyway..
I can't find the site that told me where the DNS servers were. But if you look at the bottom of this page it tells where they are. Fast, free and uncensored. DNS.WATCH. - DNS.WATCH

I’m still thinking this dns thru. More curiosity than anything. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. If I set up the dns in my router then anything that communicates with that router will go thru that dns. If I set up my device with the dns then all communication in that device goes thru that dns regardless of where that device is used. Have I got that about right?

Yes, you are correct. I have DNS set on the Net Gear router and not through Windows. That was the only thing Win 10 Update did not mess up; it even turned my camera and microphone back on. That is when I left Windows 10.

wellll... its gonna be "one of those days"...

went to apply for my TWIC card...

my birth certificate has holes punched in it due to being stored in the city's binder, and the TWIC place cant use it since one of the holes has nicked part of a single written letter on the certificate. o_O
was told to go to the courthouse and get another ( 65$) one or... get the copy I have "legalized" ( 15$) ( that raised stamp thingy)... well since its Election Day... the courthouse is closed. o_Oo_O
The TWIC place charged me 30$ to verify my birth certificate online... and only then to find out there are major network issues at the moment and nothing can be done till the issues are solved...
so now Im down 30$... o_Oo_Oo_O
soooo... I need to go to the courthouse tomarrow, spend even more money to get it done ( the stamp thingy) and do this all over again...o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

so basically something that should have only cost 125$ and 20 minutes of processing is turning into 160+$ and 2 days of BS... o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

I should have slept in....

I got a certified copy of my birth certificate from the state vital records department. It was $21.50 at the time. I had to have it when the TSA changed the rules on the ID they would take. Still have it cause I'm going to need it again soon.

OK, set up new DNS in my router. Also set it up in my laptop and iPhone. Nothing exploded so all must be OK for now.

Is there any need to clean out the cache?

You should probably flush the dns cache
Did you set your computer network to DNS automatic?

Exactly! I'll bet there's nothing new or important on those updates and really think that the recent ones are nothing more than the equivalent of inviting a telephone caller with a funny accent to pop in and make you turn on remote assistance......to "help you" of course.

All the best. Today's prep is by far the worst part - though I hear there's some new meds so we can avoid all those gallons of salty yuck water....hope so anyway. Yep Robin's got a smile and patting your shoulder, I'm sure. Way to go girl!
Thanks for the kind words!

I survived, my prep was different than the usual, but only had to drink miralax and a few laxatives. No gallons of salty drinks. I’m all set and healthy so that’s off my to do list. So glad that’s “behind” me :)

Well, that failed. The new DNS setup was sloooooooooooow...... Like 10 - 15 seconds for a new page to snap in. Went back to automatic on my laptop and went into router and put in 1.1.1.1. Back to being snappy again. My wifi shut down when I went to use 1.1.1.1 in my laptop. DNC.WATCH just doesn't like me for some reason. May try it again at some point but for today it was a fail.

General and all the rest of us Private's Last Class,
I did this to find a good dns resolver. Go to: namebench
Take a peek, the namebench program will find a server that has the fastest resolution for your location. It can take about forty-five minutes on a slow connection (the only kind I have) but when it is finished, you will have what is considered to be the best DNS server for your connection and your location. I did it and it was worth doing because it was an analysis of my individual situation.
I took the DNS server namebench recommended and put it into the router, set my network on the computer to automatic, did the dns flush and presto-changeo, good stuff.

Either they're down or blocked one of the two . Back to the drawing board with this one .

I dont think it’s out of the realm of possibilities that DNC.WATCH works better in some areas than others. I think this is what CMD was alluding too. Probably depends where their servers are and how they are set up. DW might be a whole lot better in LA than it is in NC. I’m still not certain hiw well Cloudfare is because somewhere along the way my settings got switched back to auto. So I have some playing around to do. I’m interested in that thing CMD for speed trials but there is more than one factor in choosing a DNS. As we know. My pages were snapping in and out just fine under auto so I guess I was looking for something that was more incognito.

I was having the same issues with Cloudfare last week as I am now with Dnswatch . Could be their servers , could be the ISP 50-50 chance either way .

Agree. I just went back to auto on my router. Cloudfare wasnt very good either. Maybe it’s just a bad internet day. I see my new iPhone was set on 8.8.8.8. That’s Google, no?
