Before I go to play mad scientist with dough... I must applaud @PapawBrett for the generous batch of DIY tobaccos! I know I was supposed to allow longer steep, but I went for it. Stoved Virginia mixed into HHV Nada is delicious! Satisfied that tobacco craving that hit me thanks to my downstairs neighbor’s cigar breaks on his balcony. Many thanks, Brett! :)

You really should allow those about four weeks for the flavors to mature ....
And don't forget, my extracts are no where near as clean as Adam and Heathers. maybe a couple of tankfuls, then dry burn and rewick. Not a big deal for me with REOS and the rda's I use, but keep your tanks serviced often with those flavors I sent you.

Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving and are enjoying the long holiday weekend.

I worked the actual holiday, so we celebrated last Sunday, had a house full of family and friends, turned on the pool heater and everyone had a great time, including myself, which is always a nice bonus when hosting :)

Have the rest of the weekend off to get caught up on all the sales I missed, as well as some leftovers. Might even put up some outdoor lights.

I know! (hangs head in shame & kicks dirt)

I can be so impatient. Or maybe I was just sampling to see how the flavor deepens over time? Yeah, yeah! That's it! ;)

Mad science experiment was a moderate success! This second recipe was better tasting and the nooks & crannies were there. It seems that genuine English muffins are slow cooked on a griddle rather than in the oven. Takes 16 mins per side in this recipe. They were still a little under done in the middle. But toasting will remedy that!

Every new recipe I try seems to require some kitchen gadget that I don't have. Pairing down my life has been so great that I don't want to keep adding more things now. I don't have a griddle, but the pan worked fine. I also don't have the muffin rings. Those I may pick up sometime. However, misshapen English muffins still taste lovely.

Today’s mad kitchen adventure was Butternut Squash Ravioli in Browned Butter & Sage. All from scratch, including peeling & dicing the squash. Phew!

I just wanted to see if I could make ravioli. Turns out I can. I won’t be doing it often though. Wot a lotta work!!!

It made around 16 ravioli in the batch. I probably overstuffed them. Rookie error. Only one blew open when I cooked them. Not pretty raviolis but they were almost paper thin. I could use this dough recipe to make dumplings!

They were delicious, but super rich. I ate around 7 of them. I defy anyone to eat many more than that without exploding.

This was my overly ambitious bowl. The recipe called for pinenuts, but I’m not a fan. I used pistachios instead. That’s the topping and there was some in the stuffing too. Garlic, Parmesan and sage in there with the squash

And browned butter. Everything is better with browned butter on it. :)

@LAwaters that sounds delicious! I cooked up a few things today too. Minestrone soup (from scratch, not just opening a can! Lol) and I dove into a gingerbread loaf, using fresh ginger. That came out very nicely.

I like cooking on Sundays when football is on in the background.

My daughters boyfriend helped me put up all the outdoor lights, my shopping is completed for the holidays. I have 1 box to mail tomorrow and that’s it! So glad to have gotten that done early this year.
