Well my mother did not get discharged today. I requested an evaluation from physical therapy folks, before she was discharged. I talked to many people today about the best thing to do for her. The evaluation recommendation was rehab, so I decided to go with that. I also discussed this with my brother, and he is on board with the choice. Mom wasn't happy about it at all. So most likely tomorrow she will be moved to a rehab facility. She could be good enough to come home in a few days. I told her to work hard at the rehab, and she could be well enough to go home quicker. Fingers crossed on that.

Storms tomorrow so here we go again with that. Hopefully the work I did on the drainage will hold. I won't be able to be home that much, so I am dreading it. Rain through Friday, but tomorrow will bring heavier storms. I haven't been able to see river levels lately.

Where the heck is Papaw? I guess he is snowed in without power. I hope to sleep like a baby tonight. I haven't spoken with my daughter today to see how the twins are doing. My daughter goes to bed early, so I can't call her. I hope to have a good report on the boys tomorrow.

Opinionated, how is the little one doing now?

It hasn't been easy, but I think I can do it. I still have urges to vape that are almost overwhelming sometimes. The nicotine gum takes the edge off just enough to get past those urges.

I can’t even imagine...

Opinionated, keep us updated on the new grand baby please. I have had him in my prayers.

I'm trying to gather my energy up for today. The dogs don't know what is going on, but they don't like
the situation.

PapawBrett is running around the forum, he's got a thread he made elsewhere on forum and is managing that from the looks of it.. he seems fine.

I'm glad to hear your mom will be getting rehab before coming home. It will put her in a better position...

On my end there is no change in the baby's condition, he is stable. As I said before it's likely going to be a few days before we know much more.. for now, his condition is stable.

When I quit vaping I went a month vaping without nicotine before trying to put down the hand to mouth aspect.

And even then after about 6 months or a little more of not vaping I started wanting a cigarette (although high levels of stress was contributory) so I went back to vaping 0 nic whenever I have a craving, which isn't often but it's better than potentially caving.

I understand your son and all, but it's a process to quit vaping... and if you need get you a mod and some zero nic

I read that nicotine withdrawal symptoms can last far longer than you'd imagine.

welll... another ruff one done... Im starting to think the dispatchers dont believe that drivers need any sleep...

for example, today ( well the last 30 hrs).. hell, lets go back to Monday..

Monday 4 am wake up
wait most of day waiting for call outs, nothing until 2pm
my standard run is cancelled so I get 2 hotshots to Slidell and Franklinton ( 190 miles RT)
get done at 7:30pm, change vehicles, go to airport pick up the Baton Rouge run stuff
go to BR and drop and back home at 11:30pm
as Im on the way back home I get a call to do a Sulphur ( lake charles) run ( 9 hrs, 500 miles RT) told them no, I was already crispy
in bed for 1am Tuesday morning.
so I get an order to do a run to Thibideaux for 7am delivery Tues morning ( 110 miles RT) had 4 hrs of sleep ( woke up at 5am from the phone call)...
get home and try to get some rest... no go, too wired to sleep. Spent Tuesday evening cleaning house, doing laundry...
get a call to do a Sulphur run for 11pm pickup, get that done and home for 7:30 am Wensday morning, had to be in traffic court for an expired brake tag for 9am Wends.
get back home for 10:30am... tried to get some rest... the wifeys friend comes by for a visit ( and she doesnt know how to talk quietly) no rest until 12:30 pm..
1:30 pm get called to do a run to Covington, Slidell, Bay St Louis ( 200miles RT 4 hrs) AND to be ready to do a run back to Sulphur for an 8pm pickup...
told them its 1 or the other, cant do both... so they gave me the Sulphur run... I sneak in about 3 more hrs of sleep, wake up around 5pm..
leave the house at 7:15pm to pick up the coke ( 50 lbs of it) and get to Sulphur for 12 midnite and deliver to the lab... ( and no Im not running drugs... coke, the stuff used in steel/iron melting)
deliver the product and return home ( 3:30am Thursday)

so the moral of the story is... somewhere between Monday 4am and now, I managed to get maybe 8 hrs of sleep...
and yall wonder why Im such a strange person ;)

lack of sleep does weird things...
time for another beer and hopefully 5 hrs of sleep/rest... I might be wound down enuf by 7am to do it... I might even go fire up the grill and cook some filets... ( my neighbor is gonna think Im nuts BBQing steaks at 7am in the morning..)
if all goes well... I wont get a call until 2pm Thursday to do anything...

Opinionated, I see what you are saying. So if there is a change, please update.

I am feeling rough this morning. Thunder woke me up I don't know how many times. I desperately need some more sleep, but that won't happen today. Getting ready to go back to the hospital. I have no idea what it will be like when I get there.

Moisture is being fed in from the Gulf again. This storm system will feed into something else. I haven't had the time to see the whole picture on that. Well, y'all have a good day today. I really don't like being on the road, but I have no choice. Traffic has been rough lately.

I am so relieved you’re going the rehab route. I know you (and her) would prefer her to just be home with appropriate help, but that didn’t sound like it was going to happen, so this will certainly take a small amount of pressure off of you. I’m sure you will visit often. Plant yourself right in her room, ask ?’s, engage with the workers (nurses are suckers for donuts or other treats). This way they all know you. We love a nice card too. Thanks for taking care of my mom, sort of card to go with the treats. Of course I treat everyone with the same care and diligence, but those who give a little extra appreciation are known to ALL the employees, housekeeping, secretaries etc... and in the end that is very helpful.

Keeping the prayers going that her recovery is swift and uneventful.

Okay, Baby Jackson update.

The tear on his lung appears to be healing so good news on that. He is not producing pulmonary surfactant yet, so they have given some to him three times now and have put him on a ventilator at this point.. he also appears to be developing pneumonia. They are giving him fentanyl for pain.

I figured since everyone is praying for him etc. I'd show everyone a picture of him. This was taken after he was born, day 1...

What a cutie!!

All things considered he looks pretty good. I know all those tubes look scary, but he’s got good color and fabulous chubby cheeks :)

Thanks for the picture and update. Keeping you all in the morning prayer ritual.

I think that is why they are saying he is a healthy baby, he just has these lung issues. I wouldn't know why, his mom is so exacting on taking care of herself while pregnant, gluten free, all this healthy stuff.. shes worse than I ever thought about being, and her other two children were quite healthy so its just a thing I guess, sometimes there are issues.

so this is his introduction to life, come into this world and start fighting for his life from day 1. Hes gonna be grandpa's boy.. :)

@Opinionated, yep, sometimes there are just issues. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cared for women thru very easy healthy labors, where according to all the monitors baby is doing great only to have him/her crump out after delivery. Unpredictable.

That’s why we are always prepared for the worst, praying for the best. And a good hospital has all the higher acuity staff right there so the transitional challenges are as short lived as possible. Hope your son and his wife are holding up ok. It’s a scary time, no matter how many times you’re told he’s stable and doing well. Until he’s off all that support and in their arms they are going to be scared. Hugs
