Syringes?....Needle nose bottles?.....EQ pods....what is all this strange stuff?.....

LOL! I know what you mean. I'm shopping for stuff and I have no idea what it is. Just taking a shot in the dark with this stuff, and I'm willing to blow $30 to find out if it works.

Well yesterday was a full blown nightmare. My brother may come down to visit Mom today. We shall see.
Mom was saying how there were things she had at home, that she doesn't have in rehab. So I asked what things. I made a list. Then I got everything on that list, and more to make her more comfortable. The guilt trips were just about intolerable for me. The actual rehab is only M-F, which I didn't know that originally. She doesn't like the food there, and they have no fresh fruit. So I got her some fresh fruit as well. I'm trying to cut down on the excuses.
Last night I brought her two Christmas cards. That helped somewhat. My brother had sent her a card. My daughter sent her a card with 3 pictures of the twins. I put them on the nightstand by her bed after she saw them. I left her paper and pen for a new list. She already wrote down something before I left there last night.
At least she didn't wake me up this morning, and I haven't received any phone calls. I'm going to start getting ready to go back. I'm taking my time, and trying to get myself together for the next round.

Remember, she's doing this from a place of anger over her loss of independence and feeling of dependency upon others. (Thats a difficult thing no matter who you are)

What helps is to give her things to do - knitting, crochet, word puzzles, art supplies, books to read... that way she has things to do with her time and might also make her feel useful in some way..

She needs that. Sitting there with nothing to do but think about your loss of independence (and fear of never getting it back ) is never good for the mind. The more things she has to do the better, and the happier she will be..

Also, just a thought - but give her a call at a random time and ask her for advice for something, you can make up the what but in all seriousness ask her for her advice for something... this will help to cement the idea in her head that she is needed and useful, and that she still has something to offer....

As the saying goes, “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

RIP, Breville espresso machine. We had about 6 amazing cups from it. Now it has failed. When I plug it in, the pump runs continuously even before I press the power button. From what I have read, it’s a failure in the electronics. Parts for it are no longer made.

    C’est la vie. :)

    So sad!
I'm loving my little French press.. but I've been making iced coffee in it more than regular.. Just plunge and pour in the AM.. shake it up with my fixin's.. voila! ;)

Christmas and grocery shopping done, 1 trip to Walmart later this week. Packages wrapped, house (was) clean.. ready for the Hubs on Saturday..

Well done! Now you get to enjoy the holidays. I’m so happy for you.

You can see why I am even more thankful for my consistent little French Press. That absence of moving parts and circuitry is a good thing. The screens are looking like they may tear, which makes me sad. It was a gift from J for our first Christmas back in ‘05. I can probably find a new screen to work with it though. The screen is removable.

I make my coffee pretty strong. It’s espresso-like in richness and depth. Life is good.

From one beverage to another! Latest quest was to find a good Orange Julius type of smoothie. Anyone ever had an Orange Julius? I used to love them, then they changed the recipe and it was too sweet and artificial.

I have 3 bags of frozen satsuma segments in my freezer, and this is a good way to use them!

I modified a healthy recipe. This has Greek yogurt, vanilla, a fresh orange and a cup of frozen satsuma segments. A bit of milk and a few ice cubes. You can add honey or sugar, but I wanted to try it without first.

Loved it! You have to like the sharpness of Greek yogurt. I really do, so this recipe will be a keeper.

Today my brother and my daughter came to visit my mother. I got another list of stuff to bring to my mother, and was finally able to get some clothes washed. Mom doesn't get to see my brother very often, so she was in a better mood.

That’s good! You deserve a bit of respite. You are doing all you can to care for her. Her upset is understandable. Even so, guilt trips are not cool. I hope she can stop and just focus on getting her health improved. That will be good for everyone!

    Wifey update...
she's still alive, on pain pills, so she wants to do things she isnt supposed to do, as in standing up, walking, putting a weight load on the knee...
never realized that she pees that often, but with her being on Lasix ( diuretic) I suppose its gonna happen ;) and the dog pees way too often too ;)
Im on light sleep mode always listening for that thump ( if she falls) I pop up when I hear a car door shut and listen for a few moments just to make sure it wasnt her.
Ive forgotten how tedious it can be "babysitting" the wifey...
my main worry is her falling and breaking a wrist, if that occurs, then the walker she is using will be useless ( ever try using a walker with one hand?? ;) )
and crutches are out of the question.... ever try balancing a pencil on its point?? thats what she looks like when using them...

    its been a ruff weekend...
