You did well,Bronze:)
Well, after Sue and Bridget encouraged me to get a second opinion and the shock of the first diagnosis wore off I was able to think it thru and the more I thought about it the more it stunk. The staff there nearly turned over completely from two years ago when the previous doc had the place (Dr. D). The one old lady who was still there said ole Dr. D never called or stopped by after he sold his practice (thought that was odd). I sensed something in her voice and body language that suggested he was glad he was away from there as if he couldn't stand to see what had happened to his practice. Just a vibe I got as if she was winking and nodding at me. The numerous "no charge" photos of my mouth (had to be for affect to scare people when they see how hideous their mouth looks). The numerous teeth he said were messed up knowing my teeth can't fall apart like that when they never had before. The whole thing just stunk the more I thought about it. One thing about aging...wisdom that comes only from time and experience starts to have a payback that becomes quite obvious. Our bodies might start crapping out but our antenna become more receptive. :)

Me too. I'm glad Sue and Bridget talked me into it. They're looking pretty good right now as far as I'm concerned. I just hope they don't recommend I jump off a cliff any time soon. :)

If this bores you then don't read it. I know Sue and Bridge are probably interested (maybe not).

Well, well. So I went to Dentist #2 for a second opinion today. That was eye opening. With regard to the tooth that the cap came off of (tooth #30). He did the xray and said it looked OK and he should be able to put the cap back on no problem. Then as he was preparing to do that, he said he saw one other tooth where it looked like a cavity was in its beginning stages but it was nothing that needed doing now. Basically, he said let it run its course for now and he can drill n fill down the road when if/when it becomes more apparent. Said he saw no other cavities. Just as he was about to shove his dental tools in my face to put the cap back on I stopped him. I told him I was actually there to get a second opinion. I told him all about Dentist #1 and how he thought it was possible that tooth 30 root was fractured and he was gonna send me to an Endo to confirm. And that tooth 30 also had a cavity. So he backed off and lifted my chair to look at his xray of tooth 30 again. He walked me thru it. He said he sees no signs of a fracture in the root. Dragged his mouse over the area and said usually you see more definition of the root whereas mine was rather faint at best. Said it wasn't that unusual though and said there were no signs whatsoever of a fracture. Additionally, he said there are no signs of a cavity in tooth 30 either. I said are you sure? He asked a few more questions about pain. Said it had a root canal. He said he understands but there is also ligament like stuff around the root that has nerves and if there was something significantly wrong with that root I'd feel pain in the surrounding area. Basically, 2+2=4. Showed me the xray of the tooth and said he could see no cavity. So he put the cap back on and told me he's done and to go home.

So Dentist #1 had me with a possible implant and four other teeth that needed anything from a drill n fill to as many as two crowns. We're talking thou$and$ Dentist #2 put my cap back on and said it looks like I have the beginnings of one cavity that we can watch in the future. $250, thank you very much. Bye. See you next year. Now get out of here and don't let the door hit you in theass. Yes, Sir!

There was a MASH episode where Hawkeye said he got to be a good surgeon through repetitiveness. With all the wounded soldiers constantly coming in day and night and doing so many surgeries he just practiced himself into being a great surgeon. Dentist #2 was a dentist in the Navy. I'm sure the Navy made him work like anyone else. In other words...no doctor's hours. You work a full load. And he probably saw many dozens of sailors every week. Like Hawkeye, he just got damn good through repetitiveness. Do the job, do it right, move on. Don't do any more or any less than is necessary. No frills. He spoke my language and I spoke his.

    Thanks Sue and Bridget. :)

Great news! I’m very happy for you. It’s a wise man who listens to sound reason. :thumb:

Evening...… My phone got an update the other day to give it access to 5g. Noticed tonight that it was receiving 5g. Not that tit matters..

No, your AT&T phone doesn't have 5G yet
David, if your phone isn't 5G compatible, you aren't getting a 5G signal. I don't know what carrier you have. I have heard other companies are doing this as well. Some cities have 5G now. If you have a 5G phone, but are out in a 4G area, you would only get a 4G signal. At least this is my understanding of it.

I think I am finally about over with the upper respiratory stuff. I still have the ear ringing issue going on, but the headache is better today. My throat was trying to get infected, and I was hoarse. Thankfully I have my regular voice back now. We had nice weather the past couple of days, but a cold front is moving in. Cold rain in the forecast. I hope my mother can be released from rehab soon. She is feeling pretty good now.

I'm glad you checked in! I was beginning to be worried about you. Now I don't have to hunt you down to make sure you're okay. Glad you're feeling a bit better. :)

There's someone over on the New Members forum who's upset about Greensmoke going out of business. I quit smoking thanks to Greensmoke! The member who posted has been vaping Greensmoke exclusively for 5 yrs. Members are giving good advice about going with a pod system.

The new member especially liked Greensmoke's Signature Red Flavor at 24 mg, which happens to have been my favorite flavor and strength too. It's a sweeter tobacco flavor than the regular flavor. Similar to Serendipity, or even close to Dragon's Fire.

I'm not able to post there to say so. I totally understand the panic that poster is feeling! If anyone here agrees and feels inclined to help over there, here's the link:

@Bronze YES!! so happy you found a good one!

Kal will be driving the $500 civic that we bought for bonus girl-Abbie. We will not buy him a new or used vehicle. He knows he screwed up, he feels terrible about it. Today scared the :censored: out of him. Abbie is working now (and going to college) and ready to buy her own car.

The truck is probably ok mechanically, but the body is totaled. We only had liability so we won't fix it. We will keep it for parts for Kade's truck, same model and year.

Maybe this is a major step in transforming from a boy to a man. We boys seem to have this need to push everything to their limits and beyond. More power!! Something to do with testosterone and invincibility I think. Then we get our wee wees caught in a wringer that redefines our limits. Or as Dirty Harry summarized, “A man has got to know his limitations”. Send Kal that You Tube clip.

good idea on keeping the trash truck for parts... I had to talk the wifey into keeping the yellow Smartcar for parts ( both my and her "new" Smartcar will be able to utilize the parts from the yellow one)

I already used the motor from the yellow one when mine blew the middle cylinder piston rings, just that alone saved me over 8K$...
things that can be salvaged from the yellow one may include ... water pump, alternator, A/C comp, radiator, condensor, computer, 90% of the interior, windshield, tires, and a load of other stuff to boot. Even tho its only worth 100$ as "scrap", its worth well over 5K$ in parts... and we only paid about 4500$ for it "new"...

His truck had brand new tires, less than a month old. We also put new ball joints, upper and lower on it last month. My brother has a nice trailer for car hauling so he's going to go get it for us this weekend. We'll store the tires in the barn to keep them good, and the truck behind the barn out of sight.
I really feel like if he pays for his next vehicle he'll take better care of it.
