I'd bet there is a 18650 in that Sonicare too. And they probably designed the thing such that you wreck the case if you ever tried taking it apart to get to the battery. I suspect if you get three or more years out of a Sonicare you're doing pretty good. Keep in mind the refills for a Sonicare are only 80 cents.

I need to do some more on my truck too but it's only 40's and wet here today. 60's and sunny tomorrow so think I'll wait. :)

Legend benefits from some aging even more than DF. But then that's all opinion.

That reminds me! We bought those replacements from Amazon based on your glowing recommendation. Therefore, if they fail us, I’m blaming you. You’ll owe me 100 mL of Dragon’s Fire and we’ll call it square. Aren’t you glad you spoke up? :p

So far so good. Heh heh.

Hope everyone’s Friday is going well. In my morning dream before the phone woke me up, I discovered that I had done some design work for the University of Kentucky. I had forgotten all about it. In the dream, I couldn’t wait to get to ECF to tell @CMD-Ky and ask him if he knew the gentleman who had hired me!

Y’all need to stop invading my dreams!

Y'all.. this is good. Add 2 tbsp of siracha if you want your nose to run. I added garlic and black pepper.

Making myself go to a bunco fundraiser tonight. Like Lori I'm happy to be a hermit.

That soup looks delicious! I’m adding that to my recipes to try soon list. What is bunco?

Here’s to happy hermiting! :toast:

Speaking of recommendations... Has anyone here ever owned a vacuum sealer that worked well for them? I have some gift money and was looking at a budget level FoodSaver model. The reviews are all over the place. I don’t want to risk it if it’s not worth it.

Disclaimer: You won’t owe me any juice if you steer me wrong. ;)

I had a Sears one awhile back. It was OK but I don't think it lasted as long as I was expecting. But that's typical of Sears crap. I replaced it with one from Cabela's. I have their credit card and bought it with points. I got a no frills one because all those bells and whistles break anyway. It sucks bags and that's all I use it for. Didn't cost much. And you can get fancier ones that suck canisters, tupperware-like stuff, marinade steaks, etc. No idea who makes the Cabela's one because they have their own name on it. But Cabela's has always been good value stuff. They're outdoor outfitters but because that includes hunting and fishing they're big on meat and food processing gadgets.

You can buy Ziplock brand sealer bags at WallyWorld for a lot less than FoodSaver brand. And I suspect if you look a little harder you can do even better than the WallyWorld Ziplock price. Them bags are expensive.

Much obliged. Since you’ve given a recommendation, if I go with it and it fails me... there *may* be a juice debt involved.

Seriously, though, I’m not sure if there’s a Cabela’s near me. Last time I looked they didn’t do online selling. But that was a long, long time ago. Going to the store in PA was a family event. It’s a huge store with an entire taxidermy section like a mini-museum. I posted a pic on here years ago outside Cabela’s when I bought a hat there. @Bunnykiller has the same hat. That makes me happy.

The one I looked at is $60 on Amazon. I go through a TON of Ziplocks with the freezing of meat and bread I do. This seemed like it might be less wasteful. Also, it would give me a way to preserve my homemade crackers so i could send a batch to J’s parents. They loved them.

I have never been to a Cabela's store (and there's one about 40 minutes away). I've ordered everything online and have for a long, long time. They were always a mail order company who (like all those mail order joints) transitioned to online web sales. I have to think Amazon would be a good source too and I would likely start there before Cabelas. More choices and you can go off the reviews.

Mrs CMD has warn one of them out, not due to defective products but she uses the thing constantly. She is working on number two. She uses the bags in all kinds of very creative ways, likes the attachments and, quite frankly, they save a good deal of money by keeping left overs fresh in the freezer. Make a big dish, stick half in a bag, vac it and freeze it.

She doesn't buy the bags pre-cut, she buys a box of the stuff and then cuts it to size, kind of like aluminum foil, pull some off, cut it and make your own.

That’s exactly how I planned to do it - rolls not bags. What brand does Mrs CMD have? Was it more than $60?

Food Saver. She may make a huge turkey, we eat a bunch, she vac's the rest - Thanksgiving in July.
I don''t know the cost, I know we don't waste any more.

Bunco is a dice game. It's been a while since I've played. Not much thinking involved, great for a big group of gossiping women. (insert eye roll)

My apologies if asking about cost is rude! I'm trying to figure out if buying a $60 model would be a waste, and better to save for a slightly more expensive one. If it were $25 like your new toothbrush, it'd be an easier decision. :)

We are vac-n-sealing and trying to get paid by the University of Kentucky for work done in a dream.

yeah I saw the vacuum sealing conversation.

I used to have one but I lost it in the fire and don't remember the brand, never did replace it so I've got nothing on that front.

As for getting paid by University; if there's potential profit I can start dreaming of work too.. haha

nah.. we are close knit here. Only natural we invade one another's dreams from time to time ...
