Being that I am a tad older than you all. I loved the late fifes and all of the sixties. I had a '66 Ford Mustang, 289 with a four barrel carb, four speed. Oddly enough the color was Bronze. Loved it, then the fastbacks came out as a"half-year" and I knew I jumped too early.
I really like the Plymouths and Dodges, too. They had an automatic was was better off the line than a stick. That 318 was an engine and I liked the body, not a lot did. A friend had a Dodge 2 door with the 318, what a hellcat. If I remember, it was a '65.

Well, it wasn't lime green. It was more like this...

But yeah, they had the lime greens, oranges, yellows, etc.. Colors that popped out. Nowadays, they all look the same. No charm, no character. There were lots of Cudas with 383 Hemis in them. And yes, the occasional 440 Hemi. And yes, both overkill unless you had some kind of racing package on it. Couldn't keep the wheels on the pavement. The 340's were the right engine for that car. Even the 318s. What an awesome car. Mopar makes some great engines. Got a 318 in my truck and that is the best engine I have ever owned. Smooth as silk. Tried and true. Had a 69 Dodge with a 318 in it too. Great engine. The rest of the car sucked but that engine rocked!
