Dayum, kkay, I sure hope you are using a little space heater to at least keep your feet and legs warm!!

Yikes! I totally missed that she said that was the temp in her house. I agree @kkay59 - I hope you’ve got a way to stay warm. Besides a blanket of pups and kitty.

Lord, my brain . . .

I'm sorry, I forget, there are just so damn many of theses bureaucrats . . . Was Gottlieb a plus or a minus for us?
I honestly don't recall. I think there was some optimism to start, but he changed coats pd quickly - he's the one who passed the "no flavors" on the Juuls sold in corner stores for example and even suggested banning menthol. I always thought he was a major BP weasel myself.

I think you’re right. He started off pushing pause on a rush for banning. He’s even said favorable things about vaping. Then he led the charge along with tobacco control groups, public health advocates, etc. whipping everyone into a frenzy about supposed youth use. None of it passed the sniff test, IMO.

He came from pharma and is no doubt headed back there. It was massive overreach to ban flavors in convenience stores and retail chains. You know, the same places that have flavored alcohol still on their shelves.

Calling the youth vaping issue an “epidemic” was profoundly irresponsible for any govt official.

What his resignation might mean is really unclear.

One big positive: Gottlieb did oversee the delay of the PMTA deadline. That’s why vaping hasn’t been shutdown. And why HHV can still be here. For that, I’m grateful.

If Gottlieb had done the simple thing he would have done nothing and allowed the Deeming regs to take place on schedule. If that’s what he chose to do the vaping industry would be gone right now and we’d all be vaping thru the black market if at all. Yes, he is going after youth vaping but considering the overwhelming pressure he faces to ban vaping all together he has still allowed adult vaping to remain legal.

Personally, I believe he has saved vaping for us (so far). The next person? No telling. But there is a real possibility those who have ripped Gottlieb will wish he had never left.

The forces against vaping remain far stronger than the forces for vaping.

He had an interest in a vape shop before he was the head of the FDA and BP is no fan of the Trump administration.

Eleanor I have a space heater, but that is it. It is in my living room, where I spend most of my time. That is all the heat I have this year. My central heat & air unit kicked the bucket last spring or early summer. I had a tech come out, and he said it can't be fixed. I can't remember what he said a new unit would cost, but I think he said it would be six or seven thousand dollars. I do have a small fireplace, but it needs to be cleaned with a new chimney top. Plus I have no wood. Times have been tough, but I am surviving.

Evenin’ Arm!

The hardest I ever saw my dad laugh was a scene in mash when Burns flattened Potter’s jeep with a tank. Potter pulls out his service revolver and put it out of its misery like a good cavalry soldier would do. That was in the mid 70s. I just watched that scene again and it always reminds me of my dad. :)
