soooo.. garage door goes down, then right back up. It's been doing that for a while, but intermittent. Finally got fed up yesterday and called the overhead door peeps. They went right out, fixed it in about 10 minutes. Mud dauber nests packed in the box.. I should have investigated first. But, it's working properly so good $60 spent I guess. They serviced it too, whatever that means..:?:

Mine did the same thing (albeit a different cause) some ten years ago. Turned out to be costly. I was driving home from Florida. Wife went to work that morning and the door popped back open after she closed it. So the garage door was open all day with no one home. Someone else who doesn’t live here noticed it too and took the liberty to come in my house and steal my revolver. Ever since then I lock the door from the kitchen to the garage too.

I count that a win! They make it look easy because they know what to look for. Servicing the chains and whatnot... yep. $60 well spent.

@Bronze that sucks! The kids are in and out so much during the day right now, I don't think anyone would try.. but it can always happen. I need to replace a door frame too. It goes from the back of the garage and it's been broken for a long time. The deadbolt still catches, but it wouldn't take much to break through.
(initially) I was more concerned with leaving the garage open when its been so cold.. and we did a few nights after fighting with it.

I drill holes in my window frame one on each side where the two windows meet in the middle (fully closed and latched). Then I push a nail thru it. No way anyone can get it open from the outside. Those cheesy latches are worthless.

Evenin’ Arm!

The hardest I ever saw my dad laugh was a scene in mash when Burns flattened Potter’s jeep with a tank. Potter pulls out his service revolver and put it out of its misery like a good cavalry soldier would do. That was in the mid 70s. I just watched that scene again and it always reminds me of my dad. :)

One of my favorite Christmas presents from Mrs CMD was the M.A.S.H. series on DVD, I never tire of it even when I can quote what's coming.

Haha! I can quote what is coming too. Then I ask myself why I keep watching. But I do.

As the show went on, I noticed each episode had two themes, one of which was laugh out laud funny and one of which was rather thought provoking. I doubt I will ever stop watching. When Mrs CMD and I were trying to court and later when first married there was one night every week that had a four M.A.S.H. night - three re-runs and one new show on. The highlight of our week, we didn't have a lot of money then but that was a real treat and we could afford it.

The Hawkeye character remains one of the most unique in television. 95% of what he said was in joke form yet he was always "saying something". My all time favorite character was Winchester. The guy just makes me laugh looking at him. He died a year or two back. So did Father Mulcahy. And Col. Potter not long before him. Not many left. Saw Alan Alda on CSPAN a month or two back. He's like 82 or something and looks every bit of it. Houlihan looks ghastly with all her cosmetic surgery. Klinger looks good. Just has snow on his roof but still looks strong and healthy. BJ is around but he usually says something radical that spoils it for me. Haven't seen Radar in awhile.

Hawkeye, every show had some kind of thought provoking comment. I really liked Henry Blake but very quickly saw Potter as even better. Losing Frank Burns and getting CE Winchester was a great improvement, like Hawkeye, his character was multi-faceted. I will never forget the episode when we learned, by way of a recording, that his sister, Honoria, stuttered. And then there was the one where Charles could not bring himself to have a relationship with the French woman whose name escapes me. His family would not approve of her and he needed a bit more of "the little boy". Both were poignant. Sidney Friedman was a character that I never tired of. Perfectly played.

I enjoyed the evolution of the characters, they all changed a lot from when the show first started. I think it is the only show that improved with age, most shows needed to end a year or two before they did. Not M.A.S.H., it was better when it ended than when it started.

Totally agree. The show kept improving. I look back at that first season and wonder how it survived because it really was stupid. Maybe just enough laughs to keep it going until the bench players revived it. Potter was an improvement over Blake and Winchester was an improvement over Burns (big time). Blake and Burns were just too unrealistic. Potter and Winchester allowed the show to be more serious. BJ replacing Trapper was kind of a wash. Both did well I thought. The timing was also good for Radar to leave. Klinger did a nice job filling in. And I also enjoyed how Houlihan evolved over time. My least favorite episode was the one where Hawk n Houlihan were getting all lovey dovie. Made my skin crawl. Wish they never did that episode (actually it was two episodes I think). My favorite (tough choice) was the one where Winchester was playing his French horn to the point where Hawk n BJ retaliated by not showering. Another one was when Houlihan had the prickly heat .... rash. Potter was hilarious! One of the better serious ones was Winchester encouraging that kid to play piano one-handed. Geez, I could go on and on.
