Good information. Standing the bar was a great tip, I have an older saw that isn't used a lot anymore that needs that examination. I also found after cutting angularly (new word) that I had a tendency to push with my left when my han was on the top of the saw handle which sent the saw a little to the right, pure user error. Paying more attention to my left helped me a lot with a straight cut.

Never knew a chain dresser existed, it sounds like a great addition to my preventive care arsenal.
I looked at several of his other videos, he is a wealth of information.

Thanks, General, much appreciated
Here is related info. Forget about his techniques (do what works for you) but pay attention to the problem he is pointing out. In this case, teeth that are differing lengths. One can sharpen the teeth razor sharp but if the teeth are different lengths then you will get a screwy, inefficient cut. What he does with the caliper does not have to be done often under normal conditions but now and again you have to check it. Makes a big difference.

I have kind of a nice story to tell on Resurrection Day.

We have two dogs, a lovable black lab and a rather brilliant Beagle mix who goes by the name of 'Sheriff' and has a nickname I use, 'Madame Curie' as a tribute to her intellect. [I am generally glad that she lacks thumbs and the gift of speech, it might be more than an old guy could endure.] Sheriff is getting on in years and has had a round of sickness that has made her lethargic for several months. She got to feeling better and returned to her Beagle roots, ornery.

Her revitalized vitality has led her to head out and about, escaping the fence in ways the Lab can never master. Thursday morning she left and did not come back, we searched everywhere we could to find, hollering like idiots all over the county. We finally broke down and told our daughter the Sheriff ran off, not a good scene.

None of us are social media users, FaceBook, Twitter and the rest. But our progeny knows a lot of people who do use it. She sent them pictures of Sheriff and they posted them all over the place. About six hours after posting, she got a call from a friend saying a woman that she never met sent a picture back asking if this was the dog and it was. Sheriff had been found by a family about ten miles away who took her in and did some posting of their own while our mutt played with their daughter. We swooped in and brought her home this morning.

She had been gone for four days and three nights but was none the worse for her adventure except that she was tired and hungry. Social media (often the recipient of my criticism), a circle of our daughters' friends and a kind family saved our pup.
Damn dog! Them beagles get their sniffers going and they don't stop till they're in the next county. Glad a caring family found him and you got her back. She's too old for that crap. :)

@CMD-Ky @Bronze with all this knowledge between the 2 of you on cutting trees down I'm waiting for the post where you guys notify us that you've started a business together!!! :w00t:

Seriously, respect!!!

The problem with our business model is that neither of us are capable of working four consecutive hours. By alternating hours, between the two of us we might get in a good eight hour day.

Happy Easter, friends!

@CMD-Ky - Beautiful story! It made me teary-eyed. Thanks for sharing it.

Yes, it was kind of a neat story, I thought some might enjoy it. The women folk in the house got teary, too. I, of course, remained steadfastly stoic, unaffected by it all.

welll... no sign of the Easter bunny but I did find a bunch of tiny brown eggs.... ;)

What Easter Bunny in its right mind would come around seeking out a Bunny Killer for gift giving? The Easter Bunny does not have a death wish.

My Mountain
This is the mountainside outside the kitchen window...

A bunny lives back there, she has a den and all and is big and fat. She doesn't like me enough to leave chocolate though.. :(

My cat hasn't connected the kitchen windows to the outside location behind the house, so for the cat this is the television set, complete with birds and bunnies..

She's not bright enough to go back there and kill them, so it's daily cat television entertainment.. lol

I was attending an outdoor gathering at the river today. Lots of food. Kids running all around, I lost count of them. My precious grandboys were there. They were so distracted by the commotion they didn't want to take their nap. They fought it till the bitter end. I got some big smiles from the babies, they knew it was me right off the bat. Next year they will be able to sample all the food. They had a great time today.

BK no children were eaten. We had brisket, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, rolls, fruit, all kinds of salads, and various deserts. I didn't get any desert which is unusual for me. I know there was a homemade cheesecake there. I ate very little while there, because I already had lunch before I got there.

Right off the bat is an expression. Of course I am referring to baseball. The boys are used to seeing me at their house. So among all of the commotion, I show up. They see a very familiar face, and they smile for me. I am silly with them, so they seem to love it. The 2nd born twin eyes lit up when he saw me, and he would not stop smiling. They enjoyed seeing other kids running around and playing. The kids outnumbered the adults by a good margin.

Opinionated I am so thrilled to see the little one is doing well. What a gorgeous smile he has right there. I know you must be proud of him. I know he is close to my grandsons age. I can't remember how many months your grandson is though. He must be about 7-8 months old or so.

When was your grandson born?
