and REALLY started smoking a few years later when I joined the Navy.
Definitely feel you there, it was pretty much impossible to quit while I was still in. Besides it being all around, and the only way to get a real break was going out to the smoke deck, there were just way too many decisions/changes that happened "offline" or whatever out on the smoke deck to be able to give up that access. I swear some people didn't get kicked out just cause of being able to talk things out somewhat informally on the smoke deck with their chief. It's part of the culture and I still don't know how they expect to really change that.
