I got my SB. I opened it once and placed a battery and closed it. Used it for the last 4 hours or so(never charged the battery). WORKS GREAT :D

Now I'm trying to open it again to charge the battery and the top will only screw off about half the way and it wont thread anymore.

Any tips on how to remove the top?

I cant screw it back up or down. It's not moving at all. I'm getting blisters trying.

First off go to LOWES and get the NOALOX, while you are there get some rubber grip gloves to aide in working the threads in. If there is slight movement it will work loose. Please do not use any type of tools to try and get it apart, if you can not get it to work apart using NOALOX contact me via PM.

Will a little soap work until we can get to Lowes?? Plus I am not sure as to which direction the batteries are supposed to go? Positive side towards the atomizer? No directions came with mine..

The batteries go positive up towards the switch. As for the soap, just asked chad, he says that soap will work temporarily. :D

In your bushes, watching you undress
Ohhh man, oh man!! I went for a batt change (with Break-Free in hand) and I BARELY got the sections apart!! After only one day it wanted to seize up completely!

It is much better now with the Break-Free, but not as gliding smooth as the first time I cracked her open upon receipt. I am going first thing in the AM to get that Noalox.

  • Anti-oxidant and anti-seizing compound
  • Reduces galling and seizing on aluminum conduit joints
  • Suspended zinc particles penetrate and cut aluminum oxide
  • Carrier material excludes air to prevent further oxidation
  • Improves service life of aluminum electrical applications

basically it will keep your main threads in good condition and stop your threads from seizing. Stops your top piece from getting stuck to the bottom piece of your SB. The threads were made very tight and makes the threads prone to seizing. Not a big deal if you use a product like noalox or something similar.

I would recommend buying the product (or similar product) before your SB arrives. So when you get your SB and unscrew the top piece for the first time, you can add the compound right away.

If your threads do lock up, it can be a real big pain in the ... :D

Bought noalox(Ideal) and Mother's Mag Alum Cleaner last nite and applied both. The Noalox makes it a pleasure to screw and unscrew the SB(smooth as silk).
The Mother's Mag and Alum Cleaner, well, what can I say. I thought the SB was pretty when I got it, WOW, what a difference. It's Mirror polished now. And it seems to discourage further smudging(although they still do happen). Also, the feel to the SB now is sweet. It's like running you hand over a newly polished, waxed automobile on the showroom floor. And the amount I bought(both were small containers-that cost less then $10 for both) will last several generations.
