That is definitely the issue you're having Repent When I ran 2.0 ohms @ 3.7V in the iAtty, it would gunk up within a day. Running 1.2 ohm @ 3.7 volts, I have been running 7 days now, still vaping great. No noticeable gunk buildup running a sweet rice krispity treat juice from KBV custom mixed to 50/50 PG/VG @ 24mg. The juice in the tank is not getting darker yet which is usually my clue that it's time to clean the coil again.

In case anyone is interested. I finally got that 1.8 ohm 32ga kanthal a-1 coil I was talking about to "pop". It was running for a good 6 weeks or so so I wanted to see just how much more it could take. I emptied everything and let it dry burn for close to 5 minutes (dunking in water every now and again to keep the delrin from getting overheated and cracking or melting). I thought the battery was going to give before the coil did It's really good stuff!

And what are you using for wick in it?

No I wasn't referring to crimping, In the beginning I was twisting the 36g on it's self to get a longer coil. It wasn't getting hot enough and I would get carbon deposits by day 2 and it tasted bad. I stopped twisting the resistence wire on itself, and just used a single strand and now I don't get massive carbon build up until about day 8.

Rick are you saying that you crimp now instead of doing the Chubby Checker (twisting)? I ordered 3' of silver wire from COV and 15' from an Ebay vendor. Seems like the latter is never going to get here. I have the means to both crimp and solder. Going to try out each technique to see which I like.

I'm thinking that the gunked up coil I get after a days vaping is due to using a 2.0-2-4 or so oHm at 3.7v and it's not getting hot enough to keep the coil clean. That and I use sweet juices from TV.

Stainless mesh is what I am using for a wick. XC-116 would work as well, but the fiberglass wicking would likely melt at such high temps. It could possibly survive if it could be kept wet enough and the power button was pressed for a second at a time instead of held down for the entire drag, but in most cases I think it would just not handle the heat that the higher wattage generates.

My crimps showed up today, so I will be trying them out soon. (Tiny suckers, aren't they)
I have a feeling soldering is going to be my favorite method in the end.

I would try lowering your ohm's on your coil, it will give you a hotter coil. This might help slow down the carbon build up. I think it is nearly impossible to burn the juice, since the wick is so large in iAtty. It's worth a shot.

I would like to make a point that I think iAtty is nearly perfect. It's super flexible which allows us each to choose ways that suit us best. No other atty on the market provides this flexibility. Pretty sure I am well past a month and half without a dry or burnt tasting hit. Every hit is the same... damn good!

I got my GGTS today and with the 2.8 Ohm coil on iatty, my choices of battery were 3.0 x 2 or 3.7 x2... the 1 x 3.7 seems too low.
The 2x3.7 was a little too hot! ( i set it at 2.8 Ohm for my VV )
I'll try the 2x3.0 again; the batts are very small and I've never used them before, had a time balancing the tele and bottom spring. Seems like if i tightened it too snug it wouldn't fire every time. Not too bad but at one point i thought the batts were down and am recharging... after 1 1/2 hours of vaping.
Can anyone tell me the charged full voltage of the 3.0 123's? ... and what voltage would be time to recharge?

I can either go up in resistance on my next coil, but hell,,,, i owe it to myself to try 1.3 or 1.4 at 3.7 (18650)

AW LiFePO4 batts are close to 3.6V when hot off the charger but settle around 3.36 after a few minutes (unloaded)... I recharge them usually when they drop to around 3.1V.

mine are green and say 15266 1000mAh 3.0V..... and yes, they charge up to 3.6 or so, they stop firing at about 3.1 ... not a lot of time.... they came in a swap, new with a SINCE 3.0v charger.

Hey Uke, you don't want to tighten it down too tight. Did you get the fuse upgrade?? If not, get that, much better feel for tightening up the batts and a better hit.

What setup are you using now? 3.7V @ ~1.5O and I am using the XC-116 with a modified ceramic and the stock NR and R wires, and I'm still having dry hits that I need to take off the mouth piece and cap to get it to start flowing again.

That is odd... I don't have that issue at all. I do find that pulsing the button when going under 1.5 ohms completely corrects any dry hits or burnt taste. 1 sec. on, 1sec. off. Life clean taste, never a dry or burn't hit. I have not had to even look at it except to fill it in over a week.

I am using SS mesh for a wick, but I think the XC-116 should hold up almost as well.

I think I found a way to eliminate the NR wire too. I gotta get me a spare set of plastics to mod up
