I had a notice of a new post asking what the diameter is of the rod in this kit, its 3.4mm to be exact.
Weird that i'm not seeing that post on here right now.

Here it is . . .

What is the diameter of the included coiler "rod"?
I want to build coils at .50 ohm, and was wondering what gauge kanthal I will need.

Thanks in advance.

@whodat2112 . . . @Stegle 's got an answer for Ya' ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Up There . . . ;)

Well if you look at my earlier post when I was looking for the replacement glass I found there were actually 2 different sizes available. The earlier version of this tank took a 23 mm glass and the newer version takes a 28 mm glass. I am pretty sure what you are seeing in the smaller tank is the original version. You can tell the 2 apart because the chimney actually sticks out past the glass. Not sure why they changed it. There is no difference in name so it was only luck that I realised this before ordering possibly the wrong one. That's why I was complaining that these companies are real train wrecks.

Here's the quote.
Sorry Stegle.I am confused myself.lol Yes its the IsubG.After the glass broke I thought maybe the top oring/seal is crushed so I try to remove the one thats in there.Big mistake. All I managed to do is mangle it.I then looked at the replacement that came with the tank and realise it doesn't look like the one thats in there.I tried everything from tooth picks to screwdrivers to get the one thats in there out but in my zeal I think I might have bent the area around the chimney a bit. I am done screwing with this thing. Luckily the place I bought it is going to send me a coupon for my inconvenience (smokecityca). I also want to make sure that everyone knows that there are 2 versions of this tank. One has a longer glass then the other. The old version has a 23mm glass and the new version has a 28mm glass.Theses tanks are not differentiated by any names or numbers but the old version has the longer chimney that sticks up past the glass. These companies are an absolute train wreck imo.

I am pretty sure the description was just never updated on MFS. If you look there is a note that says current version does not have the chimney sticking out past the glass meaning new version.Innokin didn't even change the included manual with my tank. It still has the specs\pics of version 1.

Well here it is from MFS in an email,

Steve,

With the last few shipments we received from them the boxes have been marked 3.8 which caused some confusion when some customers received them. We contacted Innokin to inquire about the size difference and apparently they redesigned the chimney and coil housing so it’s more efficient but does hold a little less liquid. I have included the picture of the differences in the two tanks. If you have any more questions or need anything else, please let us know.

Thanks,
David Hammer

So it seems now there is three versions of the G tank, and by the way each of my rba builds are leaking and are needing new cotton. They aren't tasting bad, just letting juice seep and going into the 510 connection.
On one I took the airflow cap off and installed and used it that way, so I could watch it closely for leaking. It worked fine but you have to be careful not to lift on the tank as it will come right off. It hardly leaked at all for a day using it like that, though it looked like pretty robotic...lol

I think those are just pictures of the 2 versions. The one on the left has the long chimney on it. The one on the right doesn't. It makes sense that they were just very slow changing the capacity and pictures on there site. And maybe they had alot of the old ones and just recently restocked.I just mistakenly thought the new version with the longer glass had more capacity but I can see why it actually doesn't. The old version had a skinnier chimney and you could fill it all the way to the top. The new version has a wider chimney and you cant fill it all the way.Does that make sense? Am I losing it?YES!!!!!lol
Any who. That sucks about the leaks but I can't say I am shocked. It just seems the wick is gonna eventually come out of the hole when you are drawing air in. I think stuffing it with wick is the only way to make it work long term. Even if it costs some airflow. Mine should be here in the next few days so I am not giving up yet.

When I rewick my factory coils, I cut the wick about 1/8 of an inch past the "barrell" and stuff the cotton in using an allen key.
I have had one or two leak, but I have rewicked a total of roughly 50-60 times (about 20 coils two or three times each)
I rewick often:)

The hole not being round is part of the problem.
Oh and yes you are losing it...and so am I...lol
When I've rewicked the stock coils I never pushed the tiny excess back in and they never leaked so...your guess is as good as mine!
Do try using it without the airflow bottom cap, it's kind of cool and you can see if anything starts dripping. On mine most of the time I didn't see juice until it was seeping around the 510 and the mod. I don't like juice getting in there and was one thing I love about the subtank mini, it never ever leaked into there. Look forward to all posts reporting there results.

I think Innokin Frank is mistaken. There are several sites that say 4.5 was the original version and 3.8 is the new version.
Clearomizers, Atomizers & Tanks :: INNOKIN iSub G Clearomizer

I bet they were just using up the old boxes that said 4.5 on them and this is where the confusion is. I am going to go smack my thumb with a tack hammer now.lol:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

OK, well I've been using this thing for a couple of days now, and while flavor isn't quite on par with my subtanks, it's considerably better than the stock coils. I've also not experienced any leaking as of yet.

Seems like a winner to me, and I'll probably be picking up a few more of them in the near future.

Can you tell us how you did yours? Was it different from what Vinny and I have been saying?
Glad you're having no problems with it. For me, if I rewicked every 2 days there would probably be no leaking.
My flavor comparison is that it's right on par with the subtank mini, but far harder to build.
