easiest ways to distinguish between the two would 1) the LED colour of the puff counter, if it's red it's MVP 1, blue MVP 2.
the buttons at the side will read V+ and V- on MVP 1 and they will read P and U on MVP 2.

The easiest way is if the fire button is black it is a V1 and if it is Silver it is a V2. Never even noticed the LED color before and I own both, you made me look

Yup, it's red.

Did I get ridiculously overcharged, too? Ugh.

Erm, I'm not sure, I hear the V2 is a better price but being in the UK I can't really confirm so.
Just as an assumption I'd say yes.

I didn't know the fire button differed in colour! we both learned something huh

Do shops typically do exchanges? I guess it depends. I really don't want to have to go through the manufacturer and warranty garbage.

Can never hurt to ask.
Here, there'd be no discussion of exchanges, but that's generally britain for ya, "good customer service? I've heard of that! I don't do it myself but I've heard of it"..

Well I wouldn't say you got ridiculously overcharged...But considering I got a new Energy Series Frost (the blue and black one) MVP 2 here for 41.99 and free shippihg, then I'll let you be the judge.

Don't feel bad, I paid 49.99 for my first iTaste vv3. It was 2 weeks before they all went on Black Friday Sale. I paid a total of $60.00 for my next 2 ($30.00 each), and they were the newer 6 Rivet models. We all get soaked once an awhile.

Really? I'm sitting here looking at my silver MVP1, my silver MVP1.5 (when they added the eGo threading), and my new blue MVP2, and the fire button is silver on all three.

Quick noob question for you fine folks here... My MVP finally arrived today!!!! Yay!!! The one down side is that it wont vape my aspire bdc tanks. I remember reading something about pulling out the center pin. Is that correct???? If so how would I go about doing that?? Thanks for your help guys and gals!!!!

I wouldn't mess with the pin, once messed with could cause you future problems, wife got a itaste v3 where the pin keeps dropping down. I use the aspire BDC with the MVP2, and I solved the connection by getting a 510 to ego adapter, which has helped a lot, if really need to mess with a pin, then very slightly pull the coil pin out on the aspire to make connection.

To be honest the aspire BDC's and the MVP2 do not play well together, but I love the aspires and MVP2, so I deal with it for now, hoping aspire will address the coils not making connection, as seems a common problem.

Thank you friend!!! Yeah I might just go the adapter route as well. I don't really want to mess with it. They work fantastic on my SID. The up side is that with my 1.5 bridge-less atty its working and looking great!!!

Could you post a picture please?

Every V1 I have seen has a black fire button. The little symble is silver but the background is black. The V2's I've seen are silver background.

yepper, afraid to say but sounds like your a victim of
    the 'ole bait-n-switch...

paid more than going rate for an older model

version 2 going for $39 bucks a few places almost gets you two
    for what you paid...

you can chock it up to a life lesson or fuss with vendor and maybe they will
    do you right

also sounds like you have an issue with your micro chip
    - green light - fire button - charging -

maybe you can use that to your advantage in return/trade/upgrade :)

So, as I explained last night, my MVP took yet another good drop and then began to self discharge. Not hot but warm and eventually I decided to crack it open and try to save it. I got as far as removing the top and bottom panels and then stopped (note black button :) ).

Tonight I managed to push the buttons down and get the bottom to slide out. Now I think I need to disconnect the LED display and charging ports.

    Edit:

Well, that wasn't all that hard. And here we have it:

I've been using an Aspire Davide on my MVP with no connection issues. I did have a head read 0.0 ohms, though. What's up with that?

    Can confirm.

Just changed out my Iclear30 for an evod. When I put the Iclear30 back on it would not pull at all and the meter read 0.0 . Iclear30 works just fine on other (lesser) devices, but will not read on the MVP at all.

    Weird indeed.

Someone mentioned in one of these threads awhile back that manufacturers should install spring loaded contact pins on batteries. I think that is a brilliant idea. Seems like it would solve most, if not all of these contact issues.

I mentioned it I believe and I didn't invent the idea of a floating pin, they are out there. Just wish Innokin would jump on it.

The evod must have ever so slightly depressed the 510 connector, you may need to gently raise it back up a bit, similar to the ego battery fix.

Ive also noticed that MVP #3 (the most recent from 101vape) seems to have an ever so slightly higher 510 connector pin.

So like the button wobble fix, its entirely possible innokin is making tiny fixes on the fly.
