So I finally got my MVP to 4.2v battery.

When I first got it, I plugged it in to give it a full charge and had a static green light, which being used to my Ego, I presumed was a full charge so I unplugged it straight away.

Charged it this morning as the battery was on 3.8, thought I'd keep it well charged, and I thought I wonder if it'll reach 4.2v if I leave it for a long time. It rose to 4.1 fairly quickly but took forever to hit 4.2 and the light to go out. I thought it never would.

As usual I didn't read the manual when I got it lol.

Typical lol.

Mine does the same thing. I can go from 3.7 to 4.1 really quickly, then quite a while to hit 4.2. Then, it doesn't stay at 4.2 for long once you take it off the charger but stays at 4.1 for ages.

Here is a charging graph from Battery University for LiIon batteries and it shows exactly what you are describing.

ion2.jpg

During the first 30 minutes of charge, the voltage goes up quickly to 4.1 volts and current stays constant. At about 45 minutes or so, the Voltage evens out at 4.1 to 4.2 volts, and then the battery moves to constant voltage stage and the charging current starts dropping off.

After about an hour, the battery is sitting at 4.1 to 4.2 volts, but it's still at half capacity. As you can see from the second graph there are three phases to charging. Constant amperage phase, where the charging amperage stays constant and the voltage of the battery rapidly increases. Then it goes into constant voltage phase and the battery begins a saturation charge until charge amperage drops away. Once saturation is complete, the battery is charged.

Woohoo! I can finally join the club! lol

Picked up my MVPv2 a few days ago and this thing is a game-changer! From V2, to eGo, to this...I'm finally happy. Two FULL days of chain-vaping 6mg juice, well over 900 puffs on the counter, before it dies. That's perfect!

I've been reading this thread for a while now and this is 90% of what made me get the MVPv2, so glad I did!

Sanding the base of the beauty ring would allow whatever topper to go down more towards the pin was my thought behind it.

My friend's wouldn't fire his clearo when he was not using the beauty ring. Sanding the base of the clearo allowed it to screw down farther than it did before. If the beauty ring is what is stopping the device from screwing down until it makes contact, then sand away. Just try it without the ring to see if the problem goes away before you sand it.

Yes I was aware of that. Don't feel like sanding the 510 connector though. I can live with pulling the occasional pin down.

I'm thoroughly convinced the problem lies in the ego threads being to long so when you screw a ego threaded device down it pushes the device pin to far down. This is also way the K T-2 does not breath properly, the threads are taller and cover the air holes.

Welcome to the ranks.

I think with that avitar of yours, you should be flying the banner!

Thanks for this, very interesting.

I must say that these Lithium batteries are amazing. My mate has two that he's now had for six years and they still hold virtually the same charge they did when new. He's stored them for months at a time and they've lost virtually no power. It's great that you don't have to discharge them then fully charge them again. NI-MH batteries were terrible for that. No battery memory is great.

Yes, temperature does effect resistance... although I highly doubt any ambient temperature will have a noticeable effect on resistance of the coils we use. But in general with conductors, resistance goes down with cold temperatures, and up with high temperatures. But usually we're taking about -100 degrees or more when talking about cold temperatures...
More likely you're seeing the effects of contraction of the o-rings from the cold, and getting less of a connection. Now the effects on your battery are a different matter. Lithium batteries do better than other types at cold temperatures, but they will still lower your maximum discharge rate. Most of the effect is temporary, but there is a small amount of permanent damage done to the cell with exposure to sub freezing temperatures.

You are so wise!

Thanks puf.

Yes I've tooth picked one of the air holes and the draw is now perfect. :)

I'm really trying to get her to take up vaping, think I'll start with a pink EVOD. She is quite a heavy smoker - about 30 a day, so will need decent battery life. I'm going to look round and find the best price.

Already got the T2, Davide and Viva Nova on the way :) But honestly VERY happy with my TS3, not going
to get much better but thought I'd try out as many clearo's as possible.

Ordered a DIY kit today. Really want to start making my own juice. Looks so fun and cheaper too.

Got it from here - DIY Mixing Kit Gold

Started off with vanilla custard (yum yum) and Blueberry and Cinnamon crumble
(two of my most fav flavours).

Can't wait to start, going to be so fun.

cool (da toothpick worked)... ;)

I think get mum a iTaste vv V3 (evod not VV)
then you guys can get a few more of them - they are GREAT back up devices...

going back-n-forth between the Nova & T3S works very well for me (variety)...

thats funny as I read this I am vaping 'vanilla custard' and one of my
top favoites is 'blu-bacco'
- Blu-bacco E Juice Baker Vapor - Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes

also I just bought my first DIY juice gear (250ml-24mg-50/50% & flavor vials)

that KIT looks very cool !
so if you mix that all together you would get:
300ml bottle of 24mg nic - 33%PG / 66%VG

are you aware of this juice mix program--it's pretty cool
- eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

vape on with the MVP

:)

Looked at several DIY kits and most of them had a bunch of stuff that I new I would never use. My best suggestion is get a jug of !00ml/l nic., a jug if VG a Jug of Pg some flavoings and a few measuring syringes and spend a ton of time in the DIY section here. It's not rocket science (but one does have to stay aware). I like ECF's own Scubadans E-juice calculator http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/32206-ejuice-calculator-added-quantity-calculations.html. For some big savings, you can get a gallon of Pharma. grade PG at tractor supply for $21

I never had that issue with ni-mh batteries now ni-cad batteries had horrible memory issues

Hi fellow MVP v2 owners! I started vaping almost 2 years ago, and have been using KGOs the entire time. Well, except for the first couple of months, when I used a Joye 510 (that was awful, but still better than smoking!). I have 8 KGO batteries that I've been rotating, but they're all starting to be a little on the weakish side now, and don't hold a charge too long anymore, so I decided to upgrade.

I just received my two new MVPs tonight. I guess I could have just bought one, but they were 37.50 each with free shipping, and it seemed like a good deal, so I figured I'd stock up. I'm using one right now, with one of the Itaste 16 clearomizers, and it's great! I'm really enjoying it. I'll start playing around with the voltage and trying different clearos after I read through this enormous thread to see what everyone else is doing. :) I also got a Kanger EVOD double starter kit - I'm glad I did, because these MVPs, as nice as they are, are a little too huge to use surreptitiously at work!
