man i done went off again this month was only going to buy 2 mods max, i slipped!

so far i got the Caravela full set, stingrayX, Copper Nemi, Kylin, andonised 14650 Nemi from FT, pre-order Copper SirLance alot....Copper ring Magma, Veritas and an andonised 17mm RDA for the Nemi.....plus a few orders that i'm waiting on from FT.....and 750ml of Nic and a few flavors.....i gotta quit...when will this affliction stop; i'm hooked bad.

ps the Veritas is a cloud making RDA with decent flavor but is a pita to build in dual, but it's cool cause you can lay it on it's side without leaking, but you have to wrap the posts.

I voted intervention quite a while ago but nobody would back me up.

The biggest continuing expense for me is juice by far . Sando helped me to start creating my own and once i hit upon a good mix i will be in great shape . Kanthal wire is very cheap and so is cotton , i have a handful of clearos and tanks that i stick with. Unless you continue to purchase new vaporizers or RDA's cost should be quite low .

I don't even use the RDA i have , my Kayfun seems to produce great taste as does my Iclear 30's. Even my Pro Tank II i like to use with rebuilt heads (if only i could find a replacement glass tank section) .

Smoking was costing me $3100 a year. I've been able to stay well under that so I don't mind letting shinyitis take over once in a while!

Ive probably blown about 3 times as much this month on vaping as I ever did on cigs. I am hoping that I am turning the corner there though. I have only one purchase I feel a need to make- a backup mod. It will either be an SVD or another MVP2, unless I get wind that a MVP3 is due out soon. Between that, my new RBA, winding my own coils, finding a store flavor I like (cheaper than "premium" stuff like Suicide Bunny), and wicking with cotton, im hoping my expenses will be better now.

My first coil/wick job on the Russian failed miserably. Burnt hit after burnt hit. I rewound another microcoil, and wow- you guys were not kidding it blows my Protank 2 away! I did a side by side comparison and the Russian has much stronger taste. So far I would say vapor production is similar, but I can fix that with dual coils. I also notice that I can run 30 guage and it seems to heat up about the same as the protank 2 with 32 guage? I have a solid 1-2 combo with the protank/russian now, so a backup mod and I should be set.

If any of you Kayfun/Russian users have a killer recommendation for a coil config, let me have it because I can wind it :D

Dude congrats on kicking 4 packs a day. Thats a success story if noone elses is. I smoked about a pack to 1.5 packs a day and my lung function has improved drastically- I can imagine 4 packs to vaping was awesome in many ways. Out of curiousity how many mils do you vape a day? I cant remember which one of you vapes like a train- I think it might be you lol

Im 30 so Im hoping this move to vaping spares me from heart disease and high blood pressure problems down the road. Cancer and high blood pressure runs in the family (my dad died from lung cancer- smoked for 53 years), you guys have literally been (hopefully) life savers.

I have some clear plastic parts for the Kayfun/Russians so I could see my dry hit problem was caused by too much cotton at the juice channels. It wouldn't let air into the tank to equalize the pressure so juice could get to the wick. Too little cotton and they would flood. Rayon seems to be much more forgiving. I set the coil pointing at the juice channels, keep the rayon fluffy and cut it to just touch the lower deck. YMMV

Thanks alot- it just so happens I set it up that way purely by accident the second time. By deck im assuming you mean the bottom part where the threads start right?

coil.jpg

This is a pick of the coil I wound thats hitting good now. I put the cotton in and draped it over the "tower" to the red marks. The first time I had more cotton and it laid all on the "deck" and I think thats what caused the dry hits. Sorry the pic sucks and im pretty sure the coil isnt great looking (especially the legs) but im still getting used to using screws.

**EDIT** Id also be interested to hear whether you think I have the coil at a good height. This is different than the Protank2 coils where it can really only go one way with little variance. What effect does coil height have on the vape?

Freaking amazing , what a talent , Puff is truly one of a kind in being able to find links to anything and at blazing fast speed at that lol.

I would rip my house apart looking for a cig pack i thought i had bought the day before and if i couldn't find that i would put my nose to the floor hoping to sniff out a cig that still had a drag or two left lol.

My husband used to hide cigs behind pictures, inside wall clocks and the sort. Every day as I was heading towards home I would ask "I'm out of cigs, do you have any?" I knew he always had some stashed somewhere.

Yes the wick down to your red marks. The coil itself looks better than anything I wind! It does look higher off the deck than what I do but I couldn't tell you if that's a good or bad thing. It does look like you're wrapping the wire under the screws the wrong direction though. They tighten clockwise so your wire should go the same direction. That pulls the wire in instead off pushing it out. Which will probably lower your coil also.

Smokes in dollars aren't that expensive here, vaping is much more. The cheapest good brand cigs cost me 11 pesos a pack, that's around 1 dollar. That's 66 bucks a month, vaping costs me 100 for starters... In pesos the difference is HUGE!!! That's why when the last time the dollar rose I went back to smoking and hence a heart attack. I know it's my health but this is going to ruin me...

Maybe it's time to buy a Reo...

I make sure a small screwdriver fits beneath the coil and the deck. To me that's enough to have good vapor and flavor. I have to remember to take pictures galore of it. I build with silica, no safe cotton or rayon here....

..........@jandry , prob about 10ml a day, at least....when dripping you use alot more jooze, but when you make your own you have plenty laying around....i prob have at least 500ml just in the storage box festering till ready now not to mention what i have ready to vape which is another 200ml or so.....i make batches of my favorites and stash-um and rotate others until the stash is ready....rinse and repeat so some is always on hand.

i store my jooze and my nic base mix in these baby bottles they have ml increments on the side and hold 150ml with a nice lock-top and are BPA free

Ahh yeah, I see I have the wire the wrong way. I was too excited to care/notice apparently :D

Ill burn this one out (since it works great) and then try building one with the wires the right way and the coil a bit lower and see how it vapes. I went high because I like an airy draw, but since the chimney is so much more wide open than the Protank 2 coils, I doubt it would make much of a difference.

I really like this RBA because the coil bay is so flexible. Ive seen vertical coils, quad coils (! yeah, I know I couldnt get enough ohmage to get the MVP to fire), etc.

Thanks for the advice!

I had to start wrapping my coils underhand to get the legs coming out the right way for a clockwise screw down. But I'm left handed and it makes a difference, I think.
