I would be willing to bet that the next collaboration between Evolv and innokin will be a DNA20 MVP-3. Followed by the "pièce de résistance" -- The DNA30 VTR....(The Coolfire as we know it is Dead in the water... With the Coolfire1 being hopelessly outdated and the coolfire2 drawing the Ire of the TSA) I have already decided to purchase the SVD/Dna20 when it becomes available and I would commit to a Dna30 VTR just as quickly. Then I'd be set for whatever the politicians and BT threw at us...I think

Noticed something strange with my MVP. Seems to have some kind of strange issue with new coils. This has happened with Aspire coils and the Itaste 30 coil that came with the MVP.

I'll put a new coil on, check the resistance, and get an accurate reading. I just did this with a new Aspire coil and the MVP read the advertized 1.8 ohms. Then I'll hit it. It might hit fine for one or two hits, then it will stop hitting. When it stops hitting, the green light will stay lit after I release the button. When I press the button again, the light will go out. I'll check the resistance again and the MVP will read something sub-ohm crazy like 0.3 (as it just did with the aforementioned Aspire coil). Subsequent resistance checks might yield different but always sub-ohm readings. Just got 0.3, 0.2, 0.8 with the Aspire.

With the Aspire I just tested, after the MVP threw its little tantrum, I unscrewed the atty and attached it to an expendable Ego c twist, because I'm now confident the MVP is wacky. Fired it up at 3.5, then 4, then 4.5 volts and it hit like a champ. Reattached it to the MVP and now it reads a steady 1.8 ohms and is working fine. Same thing happened the other day with the Itaste 30. Worked fine after firing successfully on the Ego c twist.

What the heck? I've isolated the issue to brand new Aspire and Itaste coils, (I've tried unsuccessfully to replicate the issue with several new Kanger coils...no dice), but beyond that I'm miffed for an explanation. Anyone else have this issue? Is my MVP glitching, defective, etc?

Thanks

*Edit: Just to clarify, (1) ONLY happens with new Aspire and the 1 Itaste 30 coil I own. (2) DOESN'T happen all the time. (3) NEVER happens with Kanger or any brand of broken-in coil...only BRAND NEW Aspire/Itaste 30 coils.

believe that is the sign for, equivalent or equivalent to ( ≡ )
but what it means ? same topper/coil giving you these results ?
888 announces ‘code ready to read’ then 1≡1 ?
now I’m just thinking outloud, but Nautilus has dual coil
using non-resistance lead legs, so in my mind it smells of a short
across the NR legs making MVP electronics show error code 1≡1
where a short across live legs would trigger safety protection circuit
which in turn, would set the lights-a-flashing, and a shut down…

haa, sounds good, but really, I have no idea…

I've never had it happen to me, but like I said, just trying to learn along with the rest

how long have you been using 'dual coil' devices ?

what Ω reading you getting, if ONE coil popped and you're only using one (the other)
reading should be way higher

possibility it is something in THE BASE of Nautilus (not coil)

I definitely would stop using Nautilus and see if MVP settles down (so not to harm MVP)

This started happening to me but it was only after I decided, foolishly, to try to use it as a battery backup when I know the thing has been on a downward slope to destruction.
Background: I bought my mvp v2 from 101vape back at the end of May. The 1st time I charged it was after 850+ pulls (yellow). Next charge (at yellow) yielded about 730 or so. Since then, its been less and less. Now, I'm lucky to get 150 before yellow. Two days ago I decided to drain it all the way so I decided to try to charge my phone from it. Flip the switch, connect the usb, connect the phone...nothing. Flip the switch back and the bad boy is off. Try to power on with the 3 clicks and it was unresponsive. So I connected the charger hoping to snap it out of it. This is when I 1st got the 888 / 1E1 messages. This was done at work via usb to computer. This is how I charge it about 50% of the time so I dont think it was a short. Otherwise its charged via the same wall adapter I've been using since I got it (and charges everything else fine). A couple weeks ago I thought that maybe it was a slow charge adapter or some other sort of non-traditional charger so I tried another wall adapter (same specs 5v @ 1A) with the same results. Used to charge in 1-2 hours but now its taking longer and longer to get to 4.2. Most of the time, after about 3-4 hours it'll only be around 4-4.1.
From all the reading it sure seems like I just got a bunk one from the vendor. I've heard rumors that 101 is not an authorized seller but who knows. I've had no problems with anything else I've ordered from them and would hate to think its shady business practices rather than an oversight. Googling shows a large amount of people with these errors all having purchased their mvp from 101. Hey, they're about $20 cheaper than everywhere else. You get what you pay for. There has to be some reason they can afford to charge so low.
Anyways, I'm not going to waste anymore time troubleshooting it but I hate that its soured my opinion of the device. I really want to take another shot at it from another vendor but I find I keep looking for devices from other manufacturers. Problem is, there really isn't a comparable device at the $50 range (the limit of my budget for a new device - papa still needs to reup on juice this pay period!).
Though, I am excited to see the guts of this thing once I replace it. Would be smiles for miles to find a pair of 18650s in there I can just swap out with my old purple efests from my sentinel m16 days.

Makes sense, but what would cause them to work fine and read as they should after getting an initial short?

Still makes sense. There's a short and then there's a dead short. Short could be caused by a positive too close to a negative and it "sometimes" arcs. Dead short would be wire touching. So you wouldn't have a dead short in this case.

But it could also be an intermittent short in the mod itself. Easiest (and cheapest) way to figger it out would be to change coils. If you got a bad bunch of coils... might have to change a few. Or... rebuild yer own. :)

On the eGo, you most likely burned off some crud that was shorting the coil (known as a hot spot by most). Your MVP goes into protect mode and shuts down when it detects the short. The eGo doesnt.

The latest version of the Sigelei Zmax seemed to have the most improvements and least amount of problems. Desert Vapes has them for under $50 and sometimes has 10 or more % discount sales. It can use 18350, 18490/18500, 18650 and stacked 18350s. It works for me and doesn't rattle. I like the feel, size and weight. I like the looks of the round top.

Went to DesertVapes and put "Sigelei Zmax" in their Search...but all they showed was the "Smoktech Zmax".

Are they the same???

Also...the "Menu order" they show does not list Wattage Up/Wattage Down. Are they Variable Wattage?

Smoktech Zmax

AND the passthrough! Yesterday I plugged into the car and vaped away with no cares. All I have nowadays is passthrough but this one has it all in one piece. Make it go to 6v and I'm done!

USB passthrough...only 1300 mAh...but 3.0V-6.0V...

agree with what midnite said, also perhaps;
I think it sounds like a ‘connection’ issue with the MVP (notorious)
you got one of these ?

bet that just might set you & your toppers straight – just maybe
then there is always pull the pin on suspected toppers
hit-n-miss and doesn't hurt to try (adapter)

I think 101 gets labled from Innokin as un authorized seller
because they don’t sell at MSRP (but how does 101 keep getting them ?)
lord knows they’ve sold 1000’s of them…
I’ve only charged my MVP with my cell phone cable (A/C wall)
don’t sub-ohm; hardly ever passthru; charge way before yellow mostly;
and only charge up to 4.1 (don’t allow/before grn light goes out)
as far as I can tell, my MVP works just as it did from when I got it a year ago

I don’t abuse it, over tax it, but use it like crazy ! I’ve dropped it several times
but unless I told you, ya would never know...

and now I think of it, I've never charged from it...

I think the batch as of late has a internal problem
I can’t pin point manufacture start date of my thought problems,
but just from reading around, too many have complained as of late
about wonky MVP electronics… JMO !

this is the ‘guts’ of MVP (not a 18650)
heard refered to as ketchup pak batteries…

Every time I buy batts from FT they malfunction. I use a sort of that one, thing is as it drains doesn't regulate that well. But does the job when I go out for short trips
