I live in West Central Florida, in a small community that has smokers and non smokers, and then there's me. I know of no other confirmed vapors, and I have a rather large circle of acquaintances. We've got one BM shop in town, run by people who are only looking to sell you the high dollar ($200 batteries) items. I have seen a few kids in this shop (18-25 yrs old) blowing massive amounts of vape out of their drippers connected to batteries I believe I could jump start my car with, but at 61 yrs old I can't relate to these kids. I've taken up vaping as a life saving measure, not a social thing. I have faced ridicule and prejudice from many who know nothing about vaping.

This is just a quick little note to thank ECF and our members for teaching me what I know about vaping and having lend a supporting hand when needed. I love going into the New Members section and seeing some of my old questions asked by newbees. Yes, I always take time to answer the best I can. Thanks again ECF.

Its so nice to hear that the community can help someone out like this, I become more proud to be a part of ECF everyday. I forget how lucky I am to have Vapers around me that understand my choices. I wish you all the best in your vaping venture and hope you find some one local that you can share experiance with! :)

Have a great day my friend :)

You're welcome to join us here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...lder-folks-vaping-front-porch-part-three.html

I'm not in Florida. But, lots and lots of vapers are. Including some of the folks on the Old Folks thread.

Stop by if you feel like it. Maybe some of your fellow Floridians can help you find better B&Ms in your area. Or, just hang out and shoot the breeze if you prefer.

And, don't worry. You're not alone. It's not only old folks who prefer a lower wattage, cooler, more flavorful vape.

Have you tried interacting with some of these 'kids'? When I was 17, my best friend was in his late 50's. In many ways he mentored me, but from a position of friendship and equality. You may be surprised at how little a difference there really is between you and some of them. Ok, you know what you like in vape gear, and that differs from what you see them using. Having faced your own share of prejudice and judgement because of your vaping, I would think you would at least be open minded enough to ask some questions about some of those huge batteries, which, I assure you, stand no chance of even trying to jump start your car.

I agree; for all the "annoying young people" there are a lot of really nice folks who just happen to be under 30. My own son is one of my best friends, and yeah he's a trendy "metrosexual" at nearly-27, but he's smart and one of the funniest people I've EVER been privileged to know, and some of his friends are real hoots too. Then again, I'm one of those rock n roll moms who raids his playlist for good music -- he was astonished when he heard Avenged 7Fold's "Nightmare" coming from MY speakers. :D

Rock n roll will NEVER die. :D

I had people fuss at me about smoking for many, many years and it never bothered me so I don't mind people now. I just try to explain if they ask and smile when they stare at me. It is enough for me to know that I am doing something good (or at least better) for myself. Sorry you don't know any people that vape. I have gotten several friends started on their journey. That is really a good feeling.

Yes ecf is a wonderful place to be. I just don't know what I would do without this place. Like Dancingheretik said, come visit us. I guarantee you'll love us.

Have u checked out wasabi on 41in floral city? There's a new one in Inverness called pandoras box. Haven't been there yet so no idea what they have. Best one I've found so far is queens vapor in spring hill on 19 just north of county line.
No I haven't, think I'll jump on my bike and take a ride out to Floral City...Pandoras Box can be found on line, I checked that out, not bad I guess.

I didn't mean to step on the youth of today...and yes I too have mentored a couple of youngsters. They don't bother me...I can still remember my youth.

I may have to check out Pandoras box, Inverness isn't far from where I am. I have yet to find a good store since we just moved to Dunnellon i. August...Good thing I stocked up on juice before we came down here! But I have picked up a few bottles at various places to try out but nothing spectacular.

Thats why i started DIYing my juice. Just not enough places around here that have what i like. I like to go in the shops when i can to see what they have. let me know how pandoras is. I saw it the other day driving by.

Just to let you know, I've found a vape shop in Inverness at the "roll your own Cigs" at Croft Road Square. They have some junk juice and some premium juice as well,

I hear ya bro. I live in a fairly rural place where I rarely see any vapers in the wild. I do on occasion but most people I run into while vaping are swarms of like 19 year old girls asking me to sign various parts of their body :)
.

.

JK on the last part of course.

That's one of the things that inspired me to make a vlog - so I could connect with other vapers on a more personal level than just typing :)

Congrats on quitting smoking too :)

Hear ya nv. I grew up in Dade City. Last time I was there they'd finally gotten a McDonald's. Seems like an area very much in need of an expert. Being that all you have for reference are cloud blowin' youngsters and a vape shop that sells pens. Super_X gave us a huge gift in the micro coil and I've done my best to perfect it. It's a wonderful tool to move hearts and minds. So here's a challenge to ya and perhaps the pathway to an awesome vape. Check us out on the following links and my following post.

Good luck nv.

Lifted from my remarks on Get yerself some micro right here…

Really nice work, Mac.........:toast:

Don't remember ever seeing one so evenly heat, ie...picture three.....!

A footnote, just sayin'. Key feature of a micro, contrary to popular myth, is that they don't fire inside-out. What tension does is put 'em right smack up against each other…pullin' in arm-to-arm. Like The Rockettes kickin'! That's what perfects the micro. Gettin' 'em as close as they can be. When you pulse them then that's when the nature does the best work…they oxidize in that superbly uniform state. Result? You get that even heat distribution that you see. And, the best part, the more you use them, the more that stabilizes. ALL vape elements can warp or twist out of shape with the rigorous reheating of vaporization. Tension winds lock in that symmetrical geometry inhibiting distortion in use and so run cooler. That efficient concentration hugely bumps the heat sink effect of the wick and coil. You have a finely mated union of the concentrated heating surface of a microcoil with the tension optimized uniformity of electron flow. A perfect recipe for enhanced vaporization. That's what a tensioned micro coil does.

Hope ya gotcha some.

:D

Good luck.

As an ex-pipe enthusiast I was already used to being ostracized so vaping alone doesn't bother me one iota. A tobacco fan, I vape various flavored NET for the pleasure/satisfaction it brings me, not to socialize.

Ridicule? Not here, I've only had one person who sought to "educate" me but she quickly realized her mistake and went about her business. I bite. Most people are just curious about "vaping" and relay what they have heard/read. I enjoy good civil discussion of the issues. Several of my peers have actually converted as a result of such discussions so there may actually be more "old retired" vapors here than young, imagine that.

I "found" ECF early in 2013 while researching methods of tobacco extraction and lurked for months before joining, great community full of lively discussions and helpful information. I try to steer newcomers here not only for the wealth of information ECF provides but also for the sense of community present here.
