I just got a 5lb Roll directly from Kanthal.com of 34AWG Kanthal A-1, I also got a sample of the APM, it is some very good stuff, both of them are. Dont try to place a small order though if you go to Kanthal.com, I had to buy 5LB Roll and it was $232 I got a lifetime supply

You guys could always go in 5 or 10 ways and split up a nice big roll to lower the co$t

5lb roll will last longer than your grandkids...lol

32 is .202 mm... so technically it is not the same when carried to the thousandth.

I just figured out it was in inches! 32 gauge is .008"=.020mm. Crap I hate being slow. Thanks for the help. I already have a couple spools of that gauge in stock.

Thanks for helping me sort that out. I have some of the 32 that I had got on eBay for my other mods. It works very well, but I'm always looking for something that is a little bit better.

I have been using rebuildables for a long time now and I can absolutely say with 100% surety that Kanthal A-1 will outperform and outlast any grade of Nichrome....period. This is from experience, not from some charts, but even at that, every chart I have ever seen comparing the 2 alloys shows kanthal very clearly as the better wire.

Kanthal has a higher max temp, greater hot strength and less carbonization in wet environments that Nicrome does pretty much across the board.

Now looking at the charts you posted links to, they clearly show that kanthal is lighter, stronger and has a higher max tem across every range of element they listed specs for. Maybe you just read the results wrong?

And my final point for kanthal being better than nichrome for vaping. Kanthal has 0% nickel in all it's forms. Many people are allergic to nickel and inhaling even trace amounts will irritate someone that is allergic to nickel when they vape from a nichrome coil. This I have also seen first hand

What am I missing? I'm reading that their conductive properties are similar....

Every comparison I've seen suggests that they're fairly comparable conductors, but that kanthal lasts longer.
