Is the Kayfun v5 really as good as they say? Other than the obvious upgrades I don't see how their could be that much difference in flavour between this and say Lemo 2, Monster v3, SubTank mini RBA etc. Slightly thinner bore chimney I guess.

It depends on your vaping style. If you are happy with a single coil atomizer with cigarette filter style inhale for mouth to lung that has flavor that rivals many other similar atomizers, then you will be happy with a Kayfun V2 or V3.

If you are looking for direct to lung inhales and/or clouds, you won't like the 2 or the 3. Lemo 2 was made for direct to lung with "by the way" mouth to lung if you close it down.

That said, you might like the Kayfun 5. It has variable draw. Wide open gives you free lung inhales and if you close down the air intake it's passable for MTL vaping. Lots of people in both camps like the Kayfun 5. Flavor is good on most all Kayfuns if you wick it right. I seem to get best flavor with SS316 coils between .5 and 1 ohm , 2 ohm if I'm vaping Kanthal A1 .

The V5 is pretty much the only atty I use since I got it last year, mines a Tobacco clone. Started with the V2 Lite+, moved on to the V4 when it came out. Thought the V4 was the be all end all, and then got into dripping. My Derringer ruined my old MTL vaping habits and I couldn't go back. Bought a Cthulhu V2 looking for a tank that gave me the same draw and that thing was a nightmare that never worked. Decided to give the KF5 a try and it was love at first vape. Doesn't have quite the wide open airflow as my single coil Derringers but its pretty close, and Im not refilling it at a stop light while Im driving!

Totally worth it.. I would recommend it.. the 5 has a wide range of Vaping styles to fit your mood or a certain types of juice... you can open it up for restricted lung hit, or even get the air reducer kit for an excellent tight draw.. easy to build on.. I've thrown fused Claptons 3mm ID coils in there to 28g wire to suit you mood and style.. never leaks on me..

Ive had leaking in mine, or rather I should say 'weeping' from the airflow slots. But I figured out a couple weeks ago that this means my wick wasn't thick enough. Last couple of times I rewicked it, I made sure to use a thicker piece of cotton and its not seeping out the air holes anymore. At least its not as bad as my Cthulhu V2. That things juice flow ring doesn't work for crap. Fill up a tank, and a quarter of it pours out on you while you're filling it.

Hype? It's a $100+/- atty in a world full of $200 attys. Build quality , performance and flavor are on par with all of them and it's readily available. I'm not sure I'd call it hype....The m-atty was hype. I'd say it's a solid atty and worth every penny ... Unless you need a really really tight draw.

Guess my reasoning would be if you already have something almost identical is it really worth it even for a clone? Really how much difference can a slightly thinner bore chimney make? Like 26 awg vs 26/32 clapton size difference or koh gen do vs muji size difference?
Well, if you're happy with what you have, then why bother? Personally, I like experimenting with different things...including wire gauges, builds, wicking material...etc... They all work, but I get bored easy and there's always the chance I'll discover something I like more.

None of those 3 attys (lemo, monster, or sub tank mini) that you listed are in the same kind of group as a KF... I'm not talking about a $$ thing, sub tank mini well..., it's a sub tank with an rba, not an rta, monster has a different deck with large air flow, lemo is more of a sub tank... if your looking for a sub tank the KF5 is not it. Recommended builds for up to 30-35 watts max...( .5 ohm) the KF5 is ment for lower wattages, that's when it performs at its best.. ( .8 ohm -1.8 builds) if you don't like those ranges than your better off with something else... I love mine and it's my favorite rta, but I usually run around 1.4 coils in it with the air reducer kit.. if you want to throw .3 ohms or (big coils) there are better options out there.. but in my case I wanted to see what the KF5 was all about last summer so I got one, I went from all sub ohm tanks, drippers, rdtas, to basically back to MTL atomizers.... so it is that good that it made me switch my Vaping style.... if that says anything....

Use a K5 every day. To me it's the easiest to use (build, wick and fill) and gives great flavour. The K5 gives a bit more airflow than the K4 but it's still a restricted lung draw which suits me. I can blow clouds if I want to but that's not why I vape.

The clouds bro clouds tanks need more coils and more power to give the same flavour which if you want battery life and don't want to carry dual battery mods kind of defeats the purpose.

I vape so I don't smoke but value flavour from my often more expensive juice.

Not everyone is the same we all vape differently and what suits me may not suit you, and different tanks suit different Vaping styles.

The K5 IMO is a great atomiser, it's definitely not .... and well worth the cost for its ease of use and build quality. It doesn't need hype it's good enough to stand on its own both in quality and price and I don't think of it as a hype atomiser, there are others to take that crown. You can spend less or more on a tank but at the end of the day what works for you is your choice don't listen to what others say it's just their opinion, you have to try stuff out yourself.

My kayfun 5 has been in constant rotation for almost a year now, really like it, and use it in almost the exact opposite of how you use it, I keep the airflow wide open on the restricted lung hit setting. Right now I have a .3 ohm ish fused clapton in it, and vape it around 40-45 watts depending on the juice. Other times I'll use a SS316 spaced coil with temp limiting/control.

It's a great tank, no matter how you use it, low airflow MTL style and higher ohm/lower wattages, or restricted lung hit lower ohm/higher wattages. I don't know that I agree 100% with you that it is better with the MTL reducer and lower wattages, but those opinions are a bit subjective, and I respect your opinion and am glad it got you to think differently about your vaping style. The KF5 also changed my vaping style a bit too, from dual coil high airflow RTAs, and RDAs to now more restricted lung hit single coil RTAs, and restricted airflow RDAs.

TLDR; it's a versatile, and great flavor RTA.

These guys over here know their onions > Authentic Svoemesto Kayfun 5

They can tell you what's what.

I do know however that the Kayfun V5 was created chiefly for direct lung vapers, but what can aslo can be purchased is the "Kayfun 5 MTL airflow reducer set" > Kayfun 5 MTL Airflow reducer set
