Honestly? I think I'm just going to stock up K-Y Jelly, and deal with it.

I ain't smoking - that's for sure. Getting even more stressed over it? I'm going to pass.

November cometh.

Vote wisely (Johnson/Weld 2016)
Fortunately for me what I was trying to order wasn't something I needed, just something I thought I would like to try :D I really am stocked up enough to continue vaping for the rest of my life so won't ever NEED anything but I am sure there are things that will pop up that I WANT. I will have to give some serious thought as to what I am willing to do to fill the want

I ordered on the 5th so it might have changed. When I ordered from MyFreedomSmokes, it was just like a name, phone number, date of birthday. It told me they wouldn't need to ask for that information after that first time filling it out. Maybe someone can confirm if they ordered after the 8th if it's the same or not.

Thank you, Koolkiz. I don't see the requirements on their site (first glances), so I'm curious as to what they DO need for verification.

Anybody echoing "This all sucks"?
Yup, that's why I am buying my coils locally now and paying retail, pay as you play for me till the dust settles a bit. I really don't mind, the coils are my only cost in vaping.

That is the same info RTS had to have when I ordered some nic from them before the doom date and they too said they wouldn't need it again. I've not ordered anything since then so I can't confirm as to what they need now.

You've been buying stuff lately. Where have you gone and what was the AVP? (Age Verification Process)

My last State-side order was placed 8/8, and I didn't get ping'ed for Age Verification.

I did just place one to HeavenGifts (Chinese) on Friday, so no verification required (and it's coming DHL, so, signature required w/delivery)

You can add Nicoticket to the list.

Blue-Check age verification requires....
Last 4 digits SS#
Selfie of you holding driver's license without obscuring your face.
cell phone number to receive the 4-digit SMS code that is entered before paying for your order.

This may just be an early-stage glitch but after I placed my order AND received the "shipping confirmation" email from NT, I received another email from Blue-Check stating that they could not verify my "age" and I must send another "selfie" before the verification process can be completed.

I have been going back and forth with these folks since last week and just today, I received ANOTHER "Blue-Check" email letting me know... that since I have not sent the requested information, my "case" has been closed.

Now while this is currently happening, I received my package. I would like to know if anybody else has gone through anything like this. I'm very hesitant to place anymore orders with NT or with any vendor using Blue Check Verification.

Needless to say, I'm extremely frustrated (to put it mildly) with this entire process, especially requiring so much personal information!

Sorry for this long post.

I believe they use name, address and dob. What they do is scrub the web and data bases verifying your identity.

Which means that most of your information is "out there" anyway.

Heck, anybody who is concerned about identity, data mining, and safety from viruses and uses Facebook has already been compromised in every way possible.

All of this age verification is just hoop-jumping. Everybody has most of the information you are giving out anyway..........like thousands of less-than-secure CC processors. (remember, ecig vendors all had problems even back in 2012 getting CC processors......ecig stuff is and was considered "high risk" and they monitor you for chargebacks, etc. and probably an extra fee.) And many of us were getting hacked after making purchases.

It's like some of the pipe and cigar sites.....been in business forever like smokingpipes.........they have to pay their processors an extra fee to be in the "high risk" group. From what I understand, even Paypal has a category like that. MasterCard is the most villainous. I did quite a lot of reading about CC processing 2 years ago.

Veratad just uses your legal name, billing address, and date of birth, and all of that information is already in public databases pretty much.

As for Bluecheck, nobody can "do" anything with the last 4 digits of your SS number.....it's just used to re-check against the other information. Paypal and Amazon and about 1,000 other places (doctors offices) have that info on me anyway and all this info is exchanged by any office in that particular system.

The ONLY reason why they would need a copy of your Drivers License is if they can't verify your data against the databases. I would not bother with that. But I wouldn't have to. If you have owned a home, have bank accounts, have ever ordered a credit report, etc. your legal name, DOB, and billing address is already in a database somewhere.

It doesn't really bother me much. It's much more of a headache for the vendors who are having to choose a system to use with their shopping carts.

Just placed an order at Giantvapes. No age verification except a check mark.
They are using Veratad. I'm thinking its non invasive verification.

This is a copy/paste from their website.

Not surprised Halo is using Veratad. It takes a little more knowledge and work to integrate that with your shopping cart, but I suspect the higher end vendors will use that. ....... and so most vendors will just use Bluecheck.

I agree with the former poster who said they preferred Veratad.

Halo - Veratad _wants SSN

Vipervape-Veratad. – wants SSN.

Are you saying they want your ENTIRE SSN or just last 4 digits?

Any vendor using the "checkmark" thing w/out proper age verification will be in trouble soon IMHO.

These vendors will be losing a lot of sales unless they come up with a better process.

Veratad just uses your legal name, billing address, and date of birth

Maybe you missed this above: Veratad - "In addition to verification of name, address, date of birth, and Social Security Number,"

You're right about most of what you say but having my SSN and/or driver's license in as few places as possible makes them safer. Having my SSN or driver's license in so many different vendor stores makes it very risky. They don't even have to be hacked. An employee can sell that info to hundreds even thousands of buyers. I'm not willing to take that risk. I don't wish to debate it either. Folks want to know where they can get what they need with as little hassle as possible. That is the purpose of this thread. Thanks for your input though. :)

Edit: Sorry @Racehorse. I didn't see you post until after I posted. There is no mention of the last 4 numbers of SSN. They just say SSN.

Edited my post... I shouldn't have said "no age verification" as I'm sure they do like you mentioned, but I just don't remember since I've ordered from them in the past.

Beyondvape will take your order, then you'll hear nothing for days. Then YOU call them and they do an age verification... No email. Just nothing. They said I passed, but still haven't updated the sight to reflect anything might ship anytime soon... still says pending verification.

In regard to MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication), the requirement to enter an access code sent by text to a text-enabled phone number, a recent experience may be relevant ...

Social Security Administration recently added the requirement for MFA to access the mySSA account webpage for applicants and claimants of SSA benefits, such as retirees and the disabled ...

It was poorly implemented, caused a storm of complaints, and the MFA requirement was rescinded within a week ...

During the time when the requirement was in place, I had successfully used a Google Voice "virtual phone number" to receive the access code texts, which were forwarded to my email ...

Shortly after that, I needed to make a bank transfer in excess of $1000 through Bank Of America. They have a verification system called SafePass, using MFA access codes sent by text, necessary to complete the transaction ...

The SafePass codes were sent by B of A but not received by either Google Voice or Pinger. When I called B of A customer service, they told me without hesitation that "virtual numbers" were not permitted for SafePass, only a "physical cell phone" would work ...

Not sure how they blocked GV and Pinger, but they did it, so trying to use a virtual text account to receive access codes could be prevented, if the system is set up to filter them out ...

In the case of SSA, client complaints caused the restrictions to be reversed. Not much chance of the FDA responding to public displeasure, but vendors should certainly respect the preferences of their customers ...
