I'd just leave it at Unknown

Two reasons for the tag.

If they are using something, it implies that we don't know the method being used.

If they aren't using something, it doesn't imply they're not.

That makes sense and creates less clutter on the list. I'll go with that

I placed an order yesterday with My Freedom Smokes. I don't know what AV they used, definitely not Blue Check. I was just asked for my Name & address as it appears on a government issue ID. No phone number SSN or anything else. I did encounter a hitch though I thought might be helpful to others. When I put in all my current correct info, I was told they were unable to verify my identity. I was given the option to upload my Drivers license. I didn't want to do that. I then read why the software may not be able to verify me. If I had recently moved, married, divorced etc I was asked to try the old information that didn't appear on my license. I divorced almost two years ago, and immediately legally took my former name back. Again, almost two years ago. I tried the AV again with my former married name, success! Obviously outdated info. But other than that hassle free. My order is on the way.

I want to restate what happened on my MVS test order I placed yesterday. My order has shipped today and I wasn't ask for any personal ID. Veratad found public records to verify my age. :thumb:

I just made a test order at Myvaporstore, which uses Veratad. I got through checkout without a hitch. Right below the "buy" button was:

Age Verification:
We have partnered up with Veratad Technologies, a world class provider of online/real-time Identity Verification and Knowledge Based Authentication Solutions to ensure all customers meet the legal smoking age of the state in which they reside. All orders are filtered through Veratad's AgeMatch Age Verification Service.

If we are unable to verify your age, we will contact you for further verification or ship your order with adult signature required service. Adult signature shipments require an adult 21 years of age with a government issued ID to sign for the package.

I would have rather seen this info before I placed my order.

Now I'll wait and see how long it takes to receive an email asking for verification or a shipping email.

If my order goes through without requiring verification then I'm golden but I will be checking with vendors before I place my order to see what their AVP is. Inconvenient but doable.

Thanks! I occasionally use MFS and was wondering which way they'd go on age verification. Your post answered that question. :)

Try this: Double secret, unobtrusive, non-invasive, undetermined, invisible and quite probably legal and above board verification system in use. Maybe.

Here is the revised compiled list so far:

Veratad – Searches public files for age verification. If they can’t find a match you will be asked to provide some kind of personal ID such as driver’s license. They say they do not store any personal info. This is all done behind the scenes and could delay shipping until verification is complete.

Bluecheck - Collects: SSN #, IP address, the equipment you use to access their website, usage details and probably driver’s license. They do store info on their server and
share with subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors, service providers and other third parties
they use to support their business.

Unknown means the vendor may be using Veratad which is invisible to the buyer unless they cannot find a match, then you will be asked for additional ID OR they may be using some other invisible AV service.

Misthub – won’t ship to US.

Ecig.com – EVS, photo ID, DOB & Last 4 of SSN

Hoosierecig – Wants cell phone #

Sweet-Vapes _ Blue Check

Yougotejuice – Blue Check

DiscountVapers - BlueCheck

Halo - Veratad _wants SSN

Vipervape - Veratad

* MyVaporStore - Veratad

Yeti Vapes – veratad

Mount Baker – Blue Check

RockinVapeStudios – Wants cell #.

Vape – Drivers License

VAPENW – Unknown

Nicoticket – Blue Check

Vapewild – Unknown

Giantvapes - Veratad

Aquavaporcig – Just enter birth year

Beyondvape – Run your name through Google to find a doc that verifies your age.

Myvaporstore – Veratad

Volcanoecigs – Unknown

swagg sauce – Unknown

ITCvapes – Blue Check

Cheap Ejuice – Unknown

RTD vapor – Unknown

Bull City Flavors (formerly BCVapor) - Unknown
Nicotine River - Unknown

One Stop DIY Shop – Unknown

Kidney Puncher – Blue Check

Vixen Vapor – 3rd party verification. No Personal ID ask for unless age can’t be verified.

RTSvapes – Uses Veratad or a similar service by checking public records.

Heavenly Vapes – Veratad

Myfreedomsmokes - Veratad or a similar service by checking public records.

* MVP says this:

Great idea for a thread, a useful resource for anyone who's selective/discerning about handing out sensitive personal information. Just another reason ECF and its members -rock-. Kudos!

In response to an inquiry of a new.2.me vendor as to which system they use ( bluecheck- Veritad), they replied "We use an EVS system :)"

Meaning they don't want to name them now??

Probably not. And it's not something I'd get too upset about. However, you may be able to figure it out by viewing the source code on their site. ;)

It could just mean the person answering the email has no idea what they actually use. It might not be a deliberate attempt to not disclose the information.

How about "No apparent change, could be using something invisible to us." Anybody?

I'd just leave it at Unknown

Getting a bit wordy....

No apparent change / undetermined ?

I think the FDA is going to have lots of fun sorting all this out.

I still don't understand why all vendors just don't ship with adult signature required. No third parties involved and no need for threads like this. It would seem the simplest and cheapest way to verify age. Am I missing something? I'm sure some will let me know. :?:

Some people don't live in an area that makes it easy for them to travel to the post office (on the off chance that they are not home to sign for the item) to pick up said item.

I don't think a one size fits all will ever work. I do feel like people should be given the CHOICE to pick the one that works best for them.

But then....we know how the government is about people having choices.... they don't like it. :glare:

Thanks ... I knew there must be some things I was overlooking. It just seemed so simple to me. But that option works very well for ME as I get my mail at the Post Office anyway.

And I couldn't agree more. Give the customer a choice.
