So basically, they're providing your info to Bluecheck instead of you doing it online? If so, what's the difference?
You don't have to give your SS. number or send a selfie. Date of birth and address is easy to look online anyways. I think they are doing as a courtesy for those of us who don't want to use Bluecheck.

Go ALL the way to the bottom of the page. It's there.

Thanks! I did find the link down by the copyright notice.

IDology does store personal information but here's the relevant part I -always- look for;
  • "IDology will not sell, rent or lease your personal information to others. IDology will not share your personal information with third parties except in responding to your requests for services."
Their privacy policy reads/looks good to me. From my perspective the only discernible difference between IDology and Veratad is that IDology does store personal information whereas Veratad states it does not. This isn't a show stopper for me as long as it's just low level information they're storing like my name, address and verified age. The bottom line is I will continue doing business with RTS. :thumb:

If Veratad does not store information identifying you, how could they ever offer evidence to the vendor and/or the FDA (more important) that you were in fact verified, and here's the info we used to verify with?

That's easily done with a unique identifier associated with the transaction.

Uh-Oh, hope it passes TM.
The big bad tornado was way north of me but a funnel cloud was spotted 10 miles south of me which prompted the tornado warning. I can't turn my PC on yet because there's still lightning in the area. I'm using my iPad and I hate tapping on glass. :( BBL

There may be a unique transaction identifier, but what would Veratad be able to produce for an audit trail that establishes who they checked and how they checked it? Otherwise, it's the vendor pointing to Veratad as "they said it was good" and Veratad pointing to the vendor "well, there's the unique identifier we issued, they know who the customer is and have that information".

Pretty much the same basis as you get a prescription filled, your name, address, DOB, insurance ID, and so on and so on is scanned/entered into a database to establish who got what medication, and who authorized it. Someone needs to keep a record of your DOB and a reference to how and where it was verified. Otherwise, there is no method to document that a proper identification was made, making the whole "verification" process useless.

Obviously, this is an online problem, as a B&M shop merely has to ask for an ID of someone under 27, but not keep it on file. They will, however, be subjected to random "stings" to assure compliance just like cigarette sales and even vape sales in many states. But online, there's no way to know who logged onto your site and ordered something, and if it were my business on the line, I sure would like to be able to show how I verified a customer (not just pointing at Verartad, but literally be able to produce a DOB and a reference to what original source was checked for verification). It's also a lot easier for the FDA to run sham purchases through a bunch of vendors with underage information with a fake DOB using just a credit or debit card and seeing if they are stopped from completing the transaction, than to physically send actual "young people" around to thousands of B&M vendors.

To the OP, you might want to correct the information about Bluecheck on your list page. BlueCheck only asks for the last four digits of your SSN, not the entire number, and they do not store those numbers. The way you have it stated on the list, it could easily be construed as saying they want your entire SSN and that they store it and share it, which is not true.

No offense to the OP, I understand why you started this thread, but since some of the vendors seem to be having second thoughts about the age verification company they are using, and others may switch in the future, I'm not going to rely a list which may have misinformation or could very easily become outdated. Not to mention all of the confusing and contradictory information in this thread. Personally, I'll do my own research and would recommend that everyone else do the same, it's very simple to do and you're much more likely to get correct up to date information.

If anyone is interested, as of yesterday Sweet-Vapes has not yet implemented Bluecheck.

Just got an email from lightningvapes where I was considering a wire order:

Now Utilizing Bluecheck.me For Quick And Painless Age Verification!

I replied to let him know I would not be ordering from them (actually don't have a cart with them right now as I found what I wanted at other places) and he replied promptly saying they were looking into other options and asked for suggestions so I told him we prefer veratad at this point.

I certainly hope you're suggesting as a customer, and not implying that ECF has a preference.

Thank you for pointing out my mistake about Bluecheck and SSN. That has been changed. As far as the rest on the info, I copied it from their website. Perhaps they have changed their procedures, I don't know. I don't have time to monitor each AV service for changes nor each vendor. I reply on people like you to correct me and help me to keep the list up to date. We all know that things could change daily.

People shouldn't rely on this list as gospel. It is a good guide or starting place though. If a buyer finds a vendor is asking for unacceptable ID, they can back out of the order and hopefully post their experience here.

How do you know that Sweet-Vapes is not using Bluecheck?

Thank you. Changed from unknown to Bluecheck.
