well i finally at least got this far with Reo and Micro...
8 wrap... 28g nichrome = .67 Ohms... used a small screwdriver shaft about 1.5mm ID wide enough the cotton was easy to insert.
Vapes better than the previous 1.3 Ohm micro imo... more instant bam factor; not harsh or anything, and maybe unsanctioned but wth!
Didn't do the final stage of compressing coils by torching... .under/acheivement but wth

Don't underestimate yourself. Those exact tools have put more than one logger on the unemployment line and their chainsaws on the shelf.

Nice job Uke. Its good to see you around these parts. I remember some serious conversations we had in the 357 thread back in the day. Crazy how much better life is with an RM2 these days, right?
I love micro coils and cotton!
Now this is heresy I know, but I hate my rm2! (ducks)
Just can't get it to produce flavor on par with Igo-L's, kayfuns, gennies, or anything else. Things I've tried:
1) regular coils gauges 30 and 32 kanthal 5/4 wraps with silica
2) about 25 different micro coils with 6-15 wraps at 1.2-2.5 ohms
3) coils closer to airhole
4) coils further from airhole
5) short and long wick tails
6) fat tight wicks, thin wispy wicks
7) small holed to fat holed drip tips
8) coils way above the airhole to almost touching the deck and everything in between (higher seems better)
9) handed it to my wife saying wow taste this flavor.. she says it tastes "muted"
10) inserted flavor gaps (aka pdib crack) in coil
11) drank a bunch of whiskey before vaping (ok this helped a little)
12) squonked and let sit
13) reverted to silica
14) tried ekowool
15) changed to fresh juice in case the juice in the bottle got cooked or contaminated
16) tore my hair out
17) tested resistance with a multimeter at the posts to see if there's a loose connection at the screw
I know there's nothing wrong with the Reo Grand but could there be something wrong with my rm2?
At least I've aquired a ton of coil building skills trying to get it tuned but I really don't want to give up. As ridiculous as this sounds, I'm thinking of buying another rm2. All my builds in my Igo-L's, klites, gennies, all produce a ton of flavor with the same juices.
Posting this to see if anyone has heard of someone having this type of issue before me. Also waiting on some 27g kanthal to try.
Now it does vape and produce tons of vapor but if there weren't so many people who love the rm2, from my experience I'd just have to say it's a lousy atomizer and something about the chamber gives unsatisfactory flavor.
I hope I'm missing something.

i think i know exactly what you are saying...
I've been on a flavor-quest for a couple years now... spent way too much, but imo its a noble quest.
Started when the conventional attys were like bad dream for chain vapers, and no one was trying sub 1.0 Ohms geni's....
enter HH357... then sub 1.0 Ohms genesis, then dripper RDAs all sub 1.0 Ohm.... voila!
(some of the dripper/tank rba's do great with 1.++ Ohms)
But I've said the same thing about RM1 and RM2 which is a slight improvement, in my experience they didn't match the flavor of a geni or igo L...even with the best juices...
you HAVE to try a sub 1.0 Ohm micro!
Its just now working for me, maybe nichrome has something to do with it but at .6 and .7 Ohms... with micro wrap and cotton, I'm getting improved flavor (and you gotta love the bam! of low resistance)... I am completely stoked.
