I'm kinda cheap on jigs and stuff. I just use a really small 1" C-clamp to hold mine. Works great when I can be nimble enough to do that. (Guess I'll use the coils I already got built. (Getting tired of the super shorty carto's). And the micro coils always amaze people that see em.

Talking about cheap, took this idea from someone else (wish I could give credit, don't remember who it was)

Question for the experts....

The wife rolled a 7 wrap micro coil with 28 gauge. We put it on the ohm meter and it said 9.27

Put my 30 gauge 4 wrap on the meter and it said 1.0.

Put her's back on and it said 9.26 ohms. Anyone else seen this? The coil fires just fine. Is it possible that there is something wrong with the 4 day old RM2 thats causing it to not read correctly?

Maybe the coil has a short, try tapping the coil to see if the ohm's jump. just a shot in the dark.

It was 28 gauge that we ordered from Rob. Up to this point we have only used 30 gauge. I had her wrap a new 5 wrap coil with 30 gauge and it metered at 1.22 ohms.

I am thinking you might be correct that it might be a bad coil. I will play around tomorrow with the 28 gauge to see if the wire is bad or if it was just a one time thing.

I got rid of my dual coils. Just didn't do that much for me. But in playing the last few days, I've realized that my original micros were wicked with overly compressed cotton, which may have contributed to burning quite a few wicks. So I just did a plain vanilla micro, 28ga nichrome, 9 wraps on a big paperclip, .9ohms, did tilt it this time to see what happens. Also left it a bit further from the edge than I had been. Seems to be a really good, flavorful, vapor full, vape. Also seems to give a lot more audio feedback being closer to the middle. The obligatory pics.

One question did come up while I was making this.... (To be continued)

Hi L. Many guys are using 16 or 17 gauge. A 1/16" drill bit works fine also. Yes, the lower the number the larger the diameter.

Thanks. I just ordered a 14 and 16. I've been using toothpicks which are larger than the standard micro but I like it a little larger so I guess I did OK.

Okay nerd (j/k). Don't know the physics but a good performing coil always heats from the middle of the coil outward. You made a nice one! Cotton wick should just barely provide a little resistance when you pull it through.

Here's the facepalm--about 2 minutes after posting, I burnt the wick in this one. Just didn't have enough that time. Redid it and it's doing well. The wick just starts to run dry at the end of the longest vapes I take.

I noticed that they always seem to heat from the middle--i just thought it was interesting that the whole thing gets red before the middle gets orangey-white hot.

And OT--I work in an office with two mizzou fans--watch out for ole miss. They're the one that might trip you up before the SEC champ game.

The Tigers have already won more games than I thought they would so I frankly wouldn't be surprised. Ole Miss is certainly no slouch team.

Getting the amount of cotton just right can be a little challenging but the vape will tell you. The flavor amps up. Looks like you're getting it down.
